You get a job, start working to pay for own classes. And if your parents don't take you seriously you just have to keep moving. Do it for you. They may not understand it. Just love them. As your career progresses they will start to see that it is real.
Wendy, I get what you’re saying, but I also hear that CDs, Producers, Directors, etc. don’t want people with “other” careers cause they want to know you’re available to take an audition at a moment’s notice. If you have to host a seminar or do things related to our non-acting hustle & can’t make an audition or meet & greet, that’s a liability.
I tried to do that. Took me years to get a job that didn't pay well, fell into a catatonic depression and forgot who I am. Sometimes things don't work out for actors and your passion does die. It's called "losing your will to live". Realistically, things don't always work out and you have to fight tooth and nail to get back up out of the dirt and live your life.

I've learned sooo much about the business just watching your videos. Thank you for taking your valuable time to help us out. I hope that it comes back to you a 1000 fold.
Btw, I like how you talk about "brand" and "building your brand" I'm still relatively in my infancy, but branding is close to my heart. "Jobber" is not my real last name, it is a "brand" based on a character I created from my passionate study of the Professional Wrestling business. I have been thinking a lot lately on working on a new brand specifically aimed at the acting business, and that's been on my mind lately. You have been a big help in getting my creative juices flowing! Thanks for doing what you do!
Love your insight. The process is very similar to becoming a firefighter. Understanding the business & how it works while building your brand, type, image & resume. Building relationships and studying the craft becoming not only a better artist but being better professionally. All this can be done at home including taking classes and submitting to roles online now days gaining experience. You can do so much yourself before even talking to an agent or manager. It’s gotta be something you love and constantly be in execution mode with no expectations and just have fun. You can also get a camera and shoot your own film & enjoy yourself. At the end of the day become a better selfless human being by paying it forward to other artist that don’t know how and build a circle of a positive community and keep each other working. Fall in love with the process.
So true, what most people don't understand is that for almost all talents you have to build your name/brand or brands, you need to have a profile, marketing drive, business mindset!
I think many of us are guilty of believing all the old tv shows that depict how things used to work. That's what makes your videos so captivating - they present the real truth about how things work today! We know the world has changed in so many other areas, why do some people assume the acting world has not changed as well?
Thank you so much for all these videos. I've watched almost all of them. As a mom who is trying to learn the business for her children who are interested in acting and modeling it has been so helpful. There are so many scams out there when it involves kids. We have had a few agencies interested in us only to find out they are not legit. Does your book have some lists for commercial agents in the NY area? Thank you for any advice.
I have to admit i was first suspicious about your intentions, but i now do see that you truly care, try and do bring so much value through your videos, would love to meet you in person one day! Xoxox from Paris
Hey Wendy, about to purchase your book and absolutely love your videos! I binge-watch them almost every day, they're so informative. You really do motivate us actors so much, thank you for being your genuine and honest self. Hope I get to meet you one day as I'm moving to LA next year for college as well as acting. But for now, your videos keep my head up! xo
I have about 15 theatre credits and 2 short film credits along with a tv paid gig (that they cut) on my resume. I'm saving up this year (as a gap year) and will be moving to LA a year from now. Been watching your clips, but haven't watched all. Was wondering should I get an agent while i'm in school (was accepted in Stella Adler) or wait until I'm done with the 2-year conservatory? Thanks!
I used to work as a security contractor, met 2 producers and a few A list actors in that time. One of the producers tried to convince me to become an actor. The other said I looked like a young mark wahlberg. Clearly I know how to get and use contacts being a prior security contractor. It would be great if a couple of those guys look at me and say "he looks familiar... Oh crap he was my body guard one time" XD I want to act for ME, not money or fame. If I like the role I will take it. I will embody it. ?My brands?: War movies, Villain roles, Trauma and depression roles, Horror roles (probably as an antagonist--- one that the audience can get behind). Dark comedy roles. What I REALLY should do is WRITE movies people ACTUALLY want to watch. So much CRAP comes out of Hollywood now.
I am resurrecting my career after a 15+ year hiatus working as a professor (ironically I teach branding).. You video inspires me - I love the challenge. So much has changed but I really like that your fate is much more in your own hands today and there are so many opportunities in the digital age. I realize I am starting at 0 but my question is on my IMBD pro, my Actors Access Backstage profiles should I add my credits from the 90s?
I have no idea why I'm watching this old video about acting when I have no intention whatsoever to become an actress and am in a completely different field of work but damnnn I didn't realise becoming an actor is so stressful and difficult lmao its very interesting tho
Solid advice! This still remains the case and continues to be so. No when I submit with LA casting or Actors Access I see them ask for my social media links. Casting frontier even added the social media feature built in.
You are amazing, I am starting actress in UK sign up with lots of acting lessons thanks to you! Will watch all your videos and buy ebooks. Absolutely love your energy!
Wendy!! I found your videos because I have been doing more research about moving to LA for acting, I'm attending the IMTA in January 2016. I love all your advice and what you do is truly amazing because not many people share their secrets to success! I appreciate it tremendously!
God bless you. your videos are sunshine . your personality is electric. You've completely Inspired me to get back in the game the right way. I stumbled across your channel a couple weeks ago and I can't stop watching all of your videos! :) . Thank you , for your kind and generous wisdom!
Thank you for your generosity! I have been enjoying benefiting from your advise. I've been acting for about 15 years-- but love picking up a few things I've missed and being reminded of good practices.
Hello Wendy! guess what? You're the best and I bought your book! you are such a realistic thinker and idea person. Your articles are amazing and true. This is my go-to book now. yes! I bought your book!
Informatively adorable- Or, was it adorably informative? Anywho, I'm really enjoying the book, and it's keeping me pumped for my upcoming move to LA; Truly a gem!
Thanks for professional advice. My market is in Ohio/ midwest but I can still use your advice which always seems to be professionally solid. Thank you.
I just saw few of your videos and I already love you. What an energy! Wow. Thank you so much for YOU. You have opened my eyes. I love to learn and now? I have to learn more, cuz I'm hungry for that. Only thanks to you. Can't wait to see more. Wish you an amazing day as you are. 😊

Hey Wendy, love your content. Thank you, for what you do. I'm a returning actor, meaning I was an actor when I was younger (age 5 through 13). Now I'm 29, and thinking of getting back into the acting business. I've been watching your videos, for a couple days now and have no intention of stopping. My question is, I used to be part of the Actor's Guild when I was younger. When I contacted them last, they told me I need to pay a pretty large sum of money so that I could start working as an actor again. Is that accurate? Or can I do what you've always said, which is get out there build my brand, and start looking for work on my own? Thanks again for taking the time to read my comment, please keep sharing those golden nuggets, they are extremely helpful.
Thank you so much for sharing. There is so much good content on your channel. This has been so helpful. I have learned so much already and just watched a few of your videos.
hi I'm living outside of America and unfortunately I can't buy your book from my country. I'd really like to read your book, is there any other way I can have it? thank you, I love your videos they are really informative.
Thank you for all of your videos they really help. You look so beautiful I love how you talk just like you are talking to me in person. My Mom, my brother, and I all watch your videos.
Thank you so much for your awesome advice. I really appreciate it. You are really a God sent. I wish i would have found your channel earlier. I am learning a lot from you.
Lol you're so funny and personable in all of your videos. Thanks so much for this. I am enlightened and so will my family be when i break the news to them about how agents don't just come to you, but i have to build myself up first. . I did just move here in January and i just watched your video about the fist year n CA should be just a hard working year saving money. i have about the amount of money you mentioned in my account (lol) and thats just from taxes. I almost have two jobs locked down. Super excited to begin the journey the right way.
Love the advice, still trying to figure out my type and what would make me stand out from the crowd! By the way you have the poise and fiery passion of Nina Simone in this video!
Hi Wendy! I know this is an old video, but it is still so relevant and helpful. You mentioned your client has a brand called Executive Class abou etiquette for professionals including actors. I tried finding it online but can’t find anything. Would you be able to provide a link to your client’s business? I’d like to take such a class. Thank you so much!
Hi Mrs Wright I hire extra agents to book me for movies that need extra background talent. When we talk I was telling you I going Central Casting this month to get Register on the 20.and I getting my resume and I call my photo guy to set up appt for my headshot and commercial and other stuff.I am getting my 3 outfits together now and the thing she want me to have when I return.so everything is coming together. Thank god for that, AND I am still booking party like crazy and wedding also and that my moneys I will put up for my acting career.I just want to say thank you so much on the conversation we had you inspiring me more. But I still need your book. Thank you again! Chantae
Hi Wendy! I really need your help. I wanna be an actress but I just can't afford acting classes and my mother won't support me. Scenebot isn't that great and I need you. What do I do?
The Hollywood Talent Manager Wendy Alane Wright Yes, I am an actor. I'm up in Northern CA. I went to school and lived in L.A. before, but left to gain more experience and perspective. I've built up my resume a bit and I'm thinking I want to spend some time in L.A. I've got headshots, a resume and a reel. I've been researching and educating myself on how best to dive in, and I've really enjoyed your videos. They're informative and interesting. I can tell you like actors, I think it's great that you take the time to give out solid advice, thank you!
I guess it's two of us out here who really care for the talent and wanting to help them develop their talent and/or their brand. Very good information we will share this with our talent so we aren't explaining this to each individual person. Thanks for sharing. BTW where can we find your book?
If I was a Dancer only in a Short Film would I still put Supporting? Or does that not go on my acting resume. I am professionally working as a Dancer and an Actor as well as supporting myself from my RUclips series and I don't know whether to have entirely different separate resumes for Dance and Film or if I can amalgamate them. Any advice?
(directors and casting reach out to me directly to ask for projects so I've never had to submit my resume for professional Dance jobs and don't know if those go on my Acting resume if they are dance jobs on film or television)

If you wouldn't mind, could you list all of the websites to go to to make an online resume and to be able to audition for short films. I am 18 years old.
I wanted to just say thank you for giving us this wonderful advice. also I audition for Seattle talent there was a fee and when I audition for IMTA I couldn't affirmed it that's why I had to pass up the opportunity so would that mean if I audition for an agent I would also have to pay a fee too and if so how much
what do i do if they want a demo reel but you can't offer that bc it's your first time...? i feel like you need a demo reel in order to book a job but how do i get a demo reel if i didn't act for movies yet? i know there are some sort of "film school movies" but we don't have that opportunity in my county....

You talk about being a blogger and etc. Do you mean that since I have my youtube channel and twitter, Instagram, google+, and website, that I should put this on my resume?
well,i am almost 15 and i have played only in some school plays .This summer i'll take some acting lessons but i am thinking off taking some extra on September,The only thing i wanna know is if it is too late...

Hi Wendy! I really need your help. I wanna be an actress but I just can't afford acting classes and my mother won't support me. Scenebot isn't that great and I need you. What do I do?
Dont know how old you are but if money's a concern. Take drama in school. Audition on your own at a local theatre if its accessible.
Do background extras need experience or a good way to gain it? Is extra work enough to gain the attention of an agent/manger?
Extra Work does not matter. It's only fun to do for a little while. It does NOT count as acting.
You're awesome! Thanks Wendy.
Thanks Joe! What city do you live in? Are you an actor?
The Hollywood Talent Manager Wendy Alane Wright Yes, I am an actor. I'm up in Northern CA. I went to school and lived in L.A. before, but left to gain more experience and perspective. I've built up my resume a bit and I'm thinking I want to spend some time in L.A. I've got headshots, a resume and a reel. I've been researching and educating myself on how best to dive in, and I've really enjoyed your videos. They're informative and interesting. I can tell you like actors, I think it's great that you take the time to give out solid advice, thank you!
awesome advice, your the best...

I like it! I'm getting your book right now. 💥
I guess it's two of us out here who really care for the talent and wanting to help them develop their talent and/or their brand. Very good information we will share this with our talent so we aren't explaining this to each individual person. Thanks for sharing. BTW where can we find your book?
Blissful Entertainment Talent Group Thank you:) You can find my 4 books here: www.secretsofahollywoodtalentmanager.com
I had to pause at 1:00 So I could laugh and write this comment.
