I have both the Genos 1 and the Pa5x; You are very correct on the Korg; it is more contemporary, the styles are more punch and have a better groove than the Genos. The settings and menu's are deeper, the Chord sequencer on the Korg is Much much better with a single button access with a database of chord progressions which can be activated on ANY song. The vocal harmonizer is better with better controls both tactile and menu selected; the organ section on the Korg is MILES better than the Yammy; they use COSM modeling with many more customizable settings; they are much more realistic. I do like the registrations on the Genos better, however the Korg Songbook is much more elaborate and the setlist function is much better as well. You can save a songbook entry with a single button press!!! Some of the sounds on the Genos are better and some of the sounds on the Korg a better including the pianos, strings, and Synth. Genos has better Sax, Brass, and Electronic Keyboards. I do agree having both keyboards is the best of both worlds and they do really complement each other; but if I had to pick one it has to be the Korg; Its built like a tank and its more up to date.

It's disappointing that the Pa5X didn't evolve over the KRONOS after 12 years. The pianos are half the velocities levels and have less use controls. I have to keep the KRONOS because of issues like this.

The UI/Workflow is thousand times more intuitive for me on tyros/genos. I gave up completely on korg after my first tyros. (for me) menu system on korg instruments are a huge p.i.t.a....but I realized that only after trying out the other side :D So I will buy the Genos2. Its new FM(DX7) part is huge addon as well... Sounds: both sounds ridiculously good both have its advantages in some sound categories.... Plastic? Really an issue? Hmm dunno, never had any issues with pastic cases (except the t2 where the silver paint was wear off) but for me metal case is only a 10 kg extra weight. If you want to use it as a weapon (in close comnbat) it surely helps. :D In all other cases it just dead weight.

I have the Korg Pa5X coming from the Yamaha Genos and there is so much more you can do with the Korg. It's a matter of what you want to do. Just play with some basic editing the Yamaha Genos is great. Do you want deep editing and create your own sounds, the Korg Pa5X is the choice for you.

Sorry to each their own, but as much as I like the look of the Genos 2, the Korg Pa5x wins hands down for me. A lot of those sounds are derived from Korg's workstation variants (Kronos/Nautilus) and I'm not sure but I'm going to say M3 too. Plus the fact that Korg has ported over Smooth Sound Transitions into the Pa5x again from the Kronos and Nautilus. I have a Pa3x currently, and I'm seriously considering upgrading to the Pa5x.

No SSS and a cheap plastic build is why I'm going to try the PA5x. Real studio quality needs to look like the Korg. I've had Yamaha for years and I have the YC73 & M8x so the PA5x seems like a better compliment and the quality of the Korg with double players is a cool feature.

They would have had to totally reprogram the VLSI's to possible get the SST, which would mean they would have to break with the compatibility and "easy" switch from the smaller SX models or the G1 to the G2. and that is one of Yamaha's key design philosofies, that even you had a Tyros 1 or 2 you won't have big issues with updating as most things is very similar even when switching from an older to a new generation that is over 10 years. Korg is totally software driven so the SST is much easier to implement, where Yamaha have chosen to pre alocate each DSP to each sound channel in the SW70P's, hence you have only SRT between eg Right1, 2 and 3. So you switch from a sound in eg Right 1 to Right 2 and they won't cut off as the sound and effect is already prealocated. So if you are smart and just cycle thru Right 1,2,3 for each sound change and only switch sound on a channel that is not currently enabled it won't be a problem. Only if you constantly use 2 or 3 sounds stacked at once. There is pro and cons on each brand. Even it's nice that the Genos don't weigh a ton, I do wish Yamaha would make their top board more Premium build Quality. As for the keybed Its the exact same FSX bed as featured in Montage and Montage M 6 and 7 models. I still prefere some of Yamahas older keybeds, but I was pleasent surpriced that the aftertouch is much better implemented in the G2 than the G1. The G1 was sluggish and had a big issue with requiring to wait a short time with using aftertouch from the initial hit or it would not trigger the aftertouch. This has been fixed in the G2. IMO the G2 has clearly better instrument sounds than than the Pa5x in most areas but greatly falls behind the Korg in "sound design". It's not a full blown Synth but in the Pa5X you have much better sound edits available. If your not the type that can sit for hours and tailoring each sound tho, the available factory and expansion sounds in the Yamaha is just top notch for the most part while the Korg clearly wins for more "Synth" textures. Yamaha is f***in scared to give their arrangers some better control over the waveforms, just like even most people just use those DX7 factory presets, it's kinda silly they did not add the ability to load DX7 Sysex. a full bank of 32 sounds only uses like max 32k and you have almost 15gb user space for expansions and you mostly just use that for Expansion sounds, Styles and stuff. you can load all your own styles, midifiles, Mp3 and multi pad audio direct from USB. and all the original expansion packs they have released so far only take up like 2gb.
But both 2 keyboards is great instruments whatever you like the most .. if you can afford them 😉 The G2 was almost double what I payed for My Kronos 2 🥴 but still worth every penny 😊

ANALYSIS: 1 - YAMAHA GENOS 2: Genos wins on Drums, Buttons disability, Cover Songs - all from old to new, Hundreds of New Styles Available for free you can find Genos 2 styles converted for Genos 1 , better acoustic instruments ( strings and guitars) 2 - KORG PA5X - wins in : a few more modern styles, capability to combine 2 styles and fade into another style like a DJ, better keyboard feel, metal case, inclines the screen, a few better sounding instruments for solo, you can pitch the drums up and down, the kick, snare, etc - so you can adapt your drums to different styles, you can just write the chords for a song and they will play for you, while you only play anything else - it already has chord progressions for each style to choose from. Seamless transition from 1 sound to another with no sudden mute. Calculating the total - KORG PA5X BEATS YAMAHA Genos 2

Thanks, Synth S for this informative video.
I'm currently thinking of switching to Montage 8 and now checking through Montage features to be sure it matches my style of stage performance. I have some questions about the Yamaha Montage:
    1. Is it possible to create custom styles or rhythms that can be used in the accompaniment (Yamaha Montage)?
    2. Is it possible to create an acoustic guitar strumming pattern in one of the tracks of a style/rhythm (Yamaha Montage)?
    3. Which of those arranger keyboards (Korg Pa5x or Yamaha Genos) would you recommend for a one-man stage performance that the sound could be more realistic (close to live instrument sound)?
Thank you once again, looking forward to your answers

You can use the multi layer arpeggios along with motion sequencer and create something similar to style in different scenes in yamaha Montage or even guitar strumming. Also, you can use the Cubase and sequence everything with DAW.
As far as arrangers, if the weight isn't a concern, I believe pa5x has a better built quality, more pro features, and is a better value for the money. However, Genos2 is packed with tons of styles for famous songs(if you play cover songs) and has nicely published sounds.

@CyrusAryan Roland fantom has 256 notes of polyphony, same as Yamaha montage (original one). The preset scenes in fantom have some sophisticated layers with tons of filters added on top that eat up lots of polyphony. Those are beautiful scenes . If you are playing along with a band or even backing tracks, you are not supposed to ad layers on top of those. However, if you wanted to compose your own songs, using all the 16 timbrals as different layers, you won't have any polyphony issues, Roland Fantom has too many amazing features, including n/zyme weavetable technology (including in new EX upgrade) tons of amazing pads and synth voices, vary powerful piano designer, amazing keybed, and best built quality in my opinion, it's an amazing piece of equipment, some of the acoustic voices aren't as good as Yamaha though.

I would personally choose Yamaha arranger over Korg even though some of the Korg sounds are a bit more realistic. I would at least choose a
Yamaha Tyros 5 over a Korg PA-4X. Appearence, the Tyros 5 certainly looks nicer than the PA-4X but I do prefer the look of the PA-5X over the
Genos and Genos 2 but at the end of the day if your buying a high end keyboard you are buying it for it's sounds and capibilities over it's looks.
One reason I prefer Tyros 5 over Korg PA is because Tyros 5 also has Legacy sounds from all the previous Tyros models, I'm not sure if Genos 2
comes with Legacy sounds out of the box or if they are an expansion pack option but I know from original Genos they disenabled you from being
able to play the general midi and XG sounds on the keys but you can only select them in songs or styles.

Genos2 and Genos are both home keyboards with high-quality sounds for home players or elderly people who want to play their own favorite songs, that's why it's packed with tons of cover songs styles, however it does have too many features if you really wanted to compose or create your own styles, the sound quality is amazing but, it's plastic body, same as PSR series to make it light weight and easy to carry around, specially for older keyboard players.

Hey my friend, I have Genos one , and just Aquire a Pa5x, which is brilliant, so is the Genos in a different way. But am very dissapointed in the pa5x, you can’t record the arranger section like and arranger keyboard, I change and edit the arranger section to make arrangements of original and cover songs, is There way. .Come visit my channel. Cheers. Lugero.🎹🎶

Just i playing on Genos 2 very rubbish keyboard for the price what they asking! The keys are China rubies not quality 100 times better the korg pa 5x keys, the pads not playng in the acords when you play just in one instrument whiteout accompaniment, and the acords what shows in the screen not changing when transpose just you note te sound change but korg transpose it,s change when you transpose and shows you exacli what acord you took!, a lot of things quite different and i can't compare korg with genos 2 because korg it,s passing away long way then the yamaha i will bay definitely a korg pa 5x 76 chipper and better quality! The right price for the genos 2 should be 2500 max not doing any penny more!

Quality has nothing to do with China but Yamaha. You'd be surprised at how many excellent quality Chinese products there are out there.

Thats just rubbish. The keybed in both the Genos 1 and 2 is the same FSR keybed as in the Montage 6 and 7. And its their top synth keybed. You dont get a better synth action keybed, and certainly not from Fatar
