Few synthesizers have blazed trails like Roland’s Juno duo of the 1980s. Powered by the same conceptual architecture, the 60 and the 106 synth engines delivered instantly recognizable polyphon...

I could test the Softsynth Plugin E.S.P without using it or without being connected to the Montage's usb audio, do the test with an external asio sound interface to see what the latency and total polyphony are like, because here with my Saffire 6 asio drive it's current win10 os sounds keep making loud noises even though the latency increases, the processor is 14 cores xeon 2680 AVX2 32 gigabytes of ram SSD NVME I have already reinstalled the drive and it only works for a while and the crackles and noises return in sounds with layers, I don't know if it is incompatibility with the Focurite's asio drive but with other VSTs it works perfectly with polyphony of 256 notes or more with a latency of 2 milliseconds or Yamaha needs to improve this E.S.P Softsynth Plugin further.

damn, thats a huge difference between the two.
Thanks for the video. Next time make sure you laptop display does not reflect the window across the room. As for difference between the real one and vst - I could not tell because of your playing. Could you ask a real musician to demo this plugin?
Thank so much for videoo
Great video! Thanks for showing! :)
The structure of the vst plugin sound library is not clear to me. Even saving a simple preset is a problem for me, I can't find the way... And I see that the number of banks is limited. Can someone give me a video or a link to a page where I can learn about organizing and using the plugin library? Yes.. And I would also be interested in midi learn... thanks...
I bought this plugin and I don't want to buy Montage M anymore, the sounds are just great!
You can't buy the plugin. So you use a illegal version of this plugin. And don't support the developers.
there's no such thing as illegal version unless it's available to public. Discrimination is not a good thing.
It sounds identical because it's digital 😉
👌
One thing is for sure when comparing the Yamaha Genos with the Korg Pa5X and that is they are both excellent keyboards but annoyingly, with few exceptions, most reviewers cherrypick the features they want to compare instead of demonstrating all the features each keyboard has to offer. I'm a gigging musician and use predominantly Roland stage keyboards for live performances purely because of the reliability this manufacturer has given me over the years. But I digress. A few years ago I inherited a Yamaha Tyros 5 from an old friend and upgraded to a Genos when that became available. I've only ever used the Genos as a studio creative tool alongside Apple's Logic Pro DAW. I recently part exchanged my Yamaha Genos for a Korg Pa5X after extensive testing of the features of both Genos 2 and Korg Pa5X keyboards which sadly most reviewers of these keyboards completely ignore. I wish I had explored this opportunity when the Pa5X first hit the market. The sounds of the Pa5X are phenomenal and the styles are modern and refreshing but more importantly for me is that the Pa5X offers far more instant access to editing features via button and screen features than the Genos 2. For me the Pa5X is a far superior instrument when compared to the Genos 2 and is pitched more at the professional musician who wants to delve more into editing where as the Genos is seen more of an instrument for the home enthusiast. My opinion is of cause subjective based on my personal expectations and requirements. The most important consideration for anyone buying either of these excellent keyboards is to check out physically in a music shop every feature of both manufacturers and make your choice. Avoid basing your decision on reviewers who just cherry pick features.
Seems like fantom with ex has the the better sounding Jupiter and juno acb models, nzyme synth, supernatural engine and sampling and analog filter. The controls on Jupiter-x change and still menu dive on a small screen. With the fantom you have large color touch screen I cant see any advantage to jupiter-x other than i-arpeggiator and save a few $$
thank you.
do i need yo have the montage to get the VST version?
@@808TZFHY yes, you do!
for the legal way...yeah otherwise nah
thank you for this video
It sounds fantastic! But I didn't understand most of it.... congrats to all you music scientists that can make this sound beautiful.
Do they pack this keyboard appropriately for its size and weight? Thinking about ordering it from sweetwater. Just nervous about shipping such a big keyboard!
@phanuel_1986 they usually double box, but the music series has much sturdier box than the old montage.
The Neo has a horrific keybed! I wish reviews would mention this, but they're all afraid to say anything negative about it!
With this update would you recommend this over the montage if you could only buy 1 board?
It totally depends on how you are going to use any if these both keyboards. For sound designing, Roland Fantom is definitely a better keyboard since it does have direct access to all the filters and has a very straightforward approach. Also, if you wanna record and create the entire track on the board without the need of DAW, the Roland Fantom is superb. The synth sounds and pad voices are really fantastic. On the other hand, the Yamaha Montage (old one) is a very powerful keyboard when it comes to live performance because of the motion sequencer with 8 different scenes that you can use as a backing track and alsothe superbknob is amazing, acoustic sounds are far better on montage in comparison with Roland Fantom. But if you wanna compare the Fantom with new montage m series, especially the montage m8x, the Yamaha has superiority over the Fantom.
i’m an owner of a roland system-8 and love the sounds it produces. That being said, the keyboard and build quality is nothing compared to the Fantom. Not to mention the extra keys.
As far as more controls, you can add the Korg nano kontrol studio via usb and sit it right on the left side
Not really overpriced if you want the realtime controls. No one seems to care about that but it’s the most important feature for me. Nautilus is a tragedy due to small screen and lack of controls.
Thanks video is great but I am still confused between Fantom and m6 can you tell why not Fantom and why montage ?
Are you a millionaire, cause those keyboards in total costs something like 30000€ or even more?
How can I move this vst from one laptop to another. My system crashed how do I instal it into another computer
@@fidelonuselogu8874 you may contact yamaha customer service to get a new activation code with the proof of your purchase.
@@synth.s I have been trying that no response from them
Amazing! Do you have an original M1 to compare the sounds to?
@jokchung Unfortunately, I don't have one
1.Roland, 2 Korg, 3.Yamaha
You get hammer action keys i believe, pretty big difference
The M8X is probably the best keyboard on the market today. That certainly doesn't mean other keyboards are bad, but the M8X is just next level.
Still, this keyboard has a lot of issues with midi is not in sync properly with the other accompaniments especially when you insert a sample loop in drum or percussion track
Do youi have one these? If not, what arranger/workstation suits you best at this point in time?
Hi I want to buy one of these keyboard. I am blind so I need all the buttons I can get so which do you recommend me to get
@@pedrodomingocantantecatoli2550 Yamaha Montage M8x
@@synth.s OK, thank you. I think I will get the 61 keys. Do you have any tutorials on the Yamaha montage M series?
I was thinking maybe put the control panel to the left so your laptop can go in the middle.
This man is telling me im broke wothout even saying it, look ar all them expensive keys he got 😂
It would be great if the Fantom finally got an I Arp, or some editable independent arpeggio that can be set for all 16 Zones. It would throw a lot at the Fantom's abilities. The sound is very fine, but the Juno X basics demonstrate its potential very well. I hope that Roland will finally add I arp or a more advanced arpeggio. I've been waiting for this for years. Because of this, I think Montage M solves this issue much better. Now I'm waiting for a Montage M7, hopefully it will arrive in Europe soon. I think all synthesizers have the things that make us love them. I also have a Korg Nautilus, and the AL-1 engine is amazingly good at programming sounds. It can reproduce many of the sounds found in Fantom very realistically. I programmed a couple for Nautilus. The Juno 106, Jupiter 8, and JX8p sound very similar to the sounds found in the Fantom.
I love my Fantom. Both great boards, sounds good!
Its a great keyboard if you just want to play other people's songs!
Hi, can the Super Know be automated (midi automation)?
@@Rafaelsoffer yes, it can.
Thank you for your reply, how do you do it?
Montage M ESP using in other DAWs, as Korg or Roland???
They should release this vst to the people who don't own a montage
That’s against what they are trying to do which is to sell their flagship synthesizer.
I'm deciding which to buy between the two at this exact moment! Price is a slight factor, the Montage being around $1400 more
Can you connect Genos2 and Montage m8x together, so you can play styles from genos with left hand and sounds from montage with right hand?
@heianorgetralala you can control only the Genos2 sounds with Yamaha montage through MIDI. However, when you have both, you can easily use both to play with 2 hands and use Genos2 only for styles.
You got a good job hahaha
I think it was better to compare sounds, without style
Thanks sharing your setup , that's a nice one 👍🏻 The Nautilus looks great to me , the new grey edition is so beautiful 😦 The Fantom seems to be a very good one too . What a great period we live for synths ...
👍
Hello sir, Nicely explained. I need your expert advice on Fantom8. I have a Roland RD2000 and I am getting Roland Fantom8 for around $3000 from one of store. I love the PHA50 key action although it’s not the best one action but it’s definitely good for any serious piano player. I know that price around $3000 is amazing. Only thing I am missing on Fantom8 is combination sounds like Korg Kronos and Yamaha Montage has also not so impressive on guitars on Fantom but I have a many vsti and I am happy with the vsti sounds. My confusion is whether I go with the Fantom8 or not? Also one more thing as a piano player I love the key action of Kawai MP11se but that’s a very different instrument love the piano sound and key action of Kawai MP11se. I am more of a piano oriented person but at the same I love the synth sounds too Fantom has very impressive synth sounds definitely not like a dedicated synth but any day better than a vsti. It would be great if you can give your expert opinion. Thank you so much 🙏❤
@bhaveshmistry3255 The Roland Fantom is a modeless keyboard which in that regard, is much easier to work in comparison with Nautilus or Montage. Also, controlling the external sounds is very easy ,same as Rd2000 If You want something with much better acoustic sounds, especially guitars, then I would recommend the Yamaha Montage M8x, but it's more expensive. Otherwise, the Roland Fantom is one of the best synths/workstations on the market with solid built quality fo years to come!
@bhaveshmistry3255 Fantom is definitely one of the best workstations on the market, I recommend you buy it for sure.
Dreams Sweet Dreams Man! Lucky You! Best Regards!
May be your preferences is for yamaha montage but if find someone who can explain about roland you can hear different thing
I wonder how it sounds compare to other VST like Kontakt etc… Have you tried that ?
Nice review! Which key action do you prefer more?
@@bhaveshmistry3255 Roland Fantom
@@synth.sThank you so much for your reply. 🙏
@@synth.s Sir, I have a one question. Recently I bought the Roland RD2000 and same time I was inquiring about the Fantom8. I got fantastic deal on RD2000 but before that I was negotiating for Fantom8 but then a end up buying RD2000 but I am getting a Fantom8 for $2,800 which is really a good price compared to world market price. Frankly speaking in my country Yamaha Montage & Krog Kronos2 is very popular. Roland Fantom series is failed in that category because of many reasons, like you have explained in this video. Like you said I love the key action and Piano sounds on Fantom, PHA50 is a great action and very responsive. I am a Pianist composer but to arrange my music I use vsti I have good collection of vsti but I still believe in hardware. Like you said o am totally agree acoustic instruments voices are not great on Fantom except Pianos and Montage performance is very inspiring and it help to generate the musical ideas. Only reason I am confused because price for Fantom is very catchy and if I can upgrade the Fantom to Fantom EX then I will get good synth & V piano sounds I only need to spend & $200. Actually I love the Korg PA5X 88 key version I have played the 61 keys but it’s little out of my budget and surprisingly Korg has not mentioned anything about the key action, Its a Fatar key action but no details about the model, which is very sad and shameful. Also I don’t much believe in quality of Korg that way Yamaha and Roland is more stable. It would be great if you can share your thoughts as you have all three keyboards. Roland Fantom synth sounds are nice but still it’s sounding synthetic. Thanks 🙏
@bhaveshmistry3255 Roland Fantom is one of the best synthesizer/workstation for years to come. It has a very great keybed with built-in VST and a large variety of sounds!
