Well, you need a pink one now lol.
Ha! I would love a flat pink one with ebony board!
I love this!
Can’t wait for the pick up comparison!
I learned over a decade ago when purchasing two production basses that were made a month apart in serial numbers. They were high-end but not handmade. Both the exact same model. I absolutely loved one and really did not like the other.
Yeah man, it's cool how similar yet different they all are. Luckily they are all great but it's funny how unique the neck shapes are and stuff
Love the walk through of the collection and can’t wait for the comparison video. Your content is top tier and extremely well done. Thanks!!
Thank you!
Also lusting over the new baritone 7string as my first phoenix though
Nice work Jon! As much passion on pickup swapping as me in different guitars!
Still waiting on ads for video to start but just from the title and pic of the video I have one little thing to say. Years ago when schecter first released their blackjack atx, I loved it so much I bought another one. My original is black and the second is the off white one. Its my yin and yang set. Absolutely love those guitars. Schecter at its best. 2 flawless instruments.
Thinking about getting a 7 string set but I may be more interested in a newer model. Still haven't decided. I haven't played the atx 7 strings yet so I'm worried I won't like the neck as much as another model or brand. I have a cheap 7 string schecter from early 2000's but I don't think its a good example of their current neck profiles.
I have the Deluxe 1000 cream model and it's a killer guitar. Love the shape, the neck, the overall sound. Did not love the SB bridge pickup though. Changed it to Bare Knuckle Boot Camp Brute Force and it's a monster now. Do you it's a good idea to make another video with detailed comparison of all the Phoenixes? For example it was interesting to find out that the neck on the new Arctic Metal is slimmer and faster. I'd think that the bodies and the necks will be very similar. Greetings from Bulgaria and keep up the great vids coming.
Been trying to save up for the white one for a bit. Thank you for this video and review!!
I love this channel and am excited to hear demos of all these. If you haven't already, you should give the EMG X series a shot like the 81X, as they have a much improved preamp that doesn't clip so badly so the pickups are less compressed sounding and closer to a passive. They are a drop-in replacement now that you have the solderless system in there
Yeah I might try one in the future!
@@SonicDriveStudio exciting news. Right now I'm using an 85X and 60X in my 2009 Korean LTD MH400NT, damn they really do make excellent guitars. The 85X in the bridge + Soul Food + Recto is a killer combination with tons of pick attack details. Keep up the excellent work
There’s something about Metal Offset guitars, so cool 😎
If you feel like it, try the SD Blackened black Winter in the black metal, its great! I have it in the EC black metal omg
Love mine. One day I will have more
Love it! I’m going to search for a left handed version. Such a sick guitar!
Looking forward to the pickup comparison video. I have a couple of those Duncan pickups myself (JB SH-4 and Distortion) and am very curious to hear what the active ones bring to the table.
Stay tuned! Planning on posting it on Thursday
I'd love to see your opinion on the other LTD Phoenix guitars, the ones that are more traditional. The vintage white and the dark cherry ones with the humbucker on the bridge and the p90 on the neck. Nice video!!!
Those are also killer and obviously more versatile. I just prefer these simple ones overall
JB is a fun pup for sure but I'm digging the Custom right now, just does everything right.
Now all you need is two of the original 2008 model phoenix 1000s.. you need the white one and the black one. I personally prefer the scratch plate design on the original phoenix model. I'm a fan myself and own 3. I have the original white model the original black model.. and a black metal phoenix too. Great guitars!
phoenix is my favorite as well. now i want every iteration of them.
I know the feeling...
I can't wait to hear the PU comparison. Would they all have the same sets of strings?
It's coming in a couple of days! Same strings, same gauges, same tunings etc
@@SonicDriveStudio I love the phoenix shape I just wish they were doing a bridge only pu version with the evertune. ^^
Great video. I'm genuinely considering getting a 6-string M-HT Arctic Metal and a 7-string M-HT Black Metal.
I have a 6 string arctic metal M-HT and use it in drop c. A very nice guitar. I wanted to get a black metal 7 string as well but sadly nowhere to be found in good condition in my area, the one I ordered was with factory defects and I just didn’t find other options that weren’t damaged or in stores as “testing” guitars. I chose Ibanez az24047 after that lol! A badass dad rock 7 string machine.
I've done something similar with Jackson soloists. I have 2 that each have fishmans fluence one that has Duncan black winters another with a Duncan distortion bridge and jazz neck and another with Duncan blackouts. I love soloists and having a variety of pickups is bad ass.
I’ve always wanted to try black winters. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I had the vintage white one and didn't gel with it and sold it. I agree they look killer but man, they are HUGE guitars!
Seem made for guys 6' plus in size!
Ever tried swapping the JB's alnico magnet for a ceramic? I've done this in most of my guitars for years and it makes a world of difference for drop tunings. More powerful mids and tighter bass.
Good tip. I was curious about doing this myself. Love the chug of the JB but not a fan of the muddy ness.
@@TheShreddDude This is EXACTLY what you need, then. Fun fact, the only difference between the JB and the Duncan Distortion is the magnet. Distortion has a double thick ceramic magnet so if you get a standard one, the pickup is halfway between a JB and a distortion in terms of aggression. It's a super cheap mod. No reason not to! 😁
@@MesaMXR dude this is heaven. I had the distortion and it was way to HOT for me so this is amazing info thanks again!
@@TheShreddDude Hope it works out well for you. It probably will
You read my mind brother…I’m hit for a Phoenix right now and have been for awhile. My EC Evertune is incredible. I wish the stock pick up on the black metal was a Duncan. Maybe the Distortion… I can’t do the Fishman thing. Curious about the Evertune model.
The Duncans sound soooo good
I got my 7 a couple wks ago! I hope they do an arctic 7 phoenix eventually, i'd love to put a black p/u and black pick guard on it...always loved white with black accents. Also have fallen in love with offset guitars (i have 4 now!).
So i got the transblack quilt. Man this thing is nice
Man you should paint them, that would be awesome. find some great artists and make each one unique, they would look killer
Could be cool!
Damn what a collection, I would love to try the 1000 deluxe. I'm a 2 pickup guitar guy, need that bridge pickup for leads and clean. The Black and Arctic metal models are so cool though.
You mean neck pickup?
@@guitarpunkcovers yes I do. Thanks.
@@Fredlund666 didn’t mean to be a dick, sorry if it came out like that. 🤘🏻
@@guitarpunkcovers haha I didn't think you where. Everything is cool. 🙂🤘
Great looking guitars
Superb guitars
1:56 “polar opposite” I see what you did there 😂
Haha I'm glad someone noticed ;)
I have the arctic metal, it’s my favourite guitar , and I really want the black metal with the fishman modern
Nice collection. All of us have our favorite guitar models. Im more of a les paul fan but the Phoenix's look killer and clean
I love my Vintage White LTD Phoenix 1000 Deluxe
I love the artic metal MH however I had to return due to a cracked fretboard. Sucked to have to return and realized they were out of stock
Damn i also returned an ltd bc it had a cracked fretboard. Im kind of scared of ebony now and obsessively oil all my fretboards :(
Phoenix Black Metal is my favorite guitar
Congrats
I have the red Pheonix 1000 with the Fishmans. It's such a great playing guitar. First saw the model on your channel and had to have one. They sell out quick.
Those red ones are beautiful!
What case or gogbag do you use for these? My wife gave me the red cherry one and I can't find a good case for it
Would be cool to switch the pickguards and pickups from the black one to the white one.
Man you made me gas on the phoenix. Are these very neck heavy?
I play them sitting down so I'm not sure but I imagine it's not a problem since the bodies are fairly large.
Not really. Nothing compared to a Firebird.
I’ve been eyeing the phoenixs for a while now. Im torn between getting the black metal one or holding out for that grey burst with the evertune dropping in fall. 😮💨
Those Evertune’s rule.
I haven’t seen that guitar yet…
I don't need the evertune at all but the Silverburst finish looks cool!
@@SonicDriveStudio I’m just a sucker for block inlays. If the black metal had em it would be my perfect guitar haha. The black quilted maple top phoenix looks sick too.
Gosh! Impressive, but how on earth can you afford it? Do you use these purchases to offset your self employed tax contribution or something like that? Look forward to a back to back comparison which compares pickups - I think this will be really good content 👍
Well as I explained, I sold a guitar and returned an amp in order to afford these
Oh and the pickup comparison will be posted in a couple of days!
That wolud be interesting. So now lets wait.
You mean the pickup comparison? It's coming in a day or two
@@SonicDriveStudio Yes pickups
I have an EX-50 (with an EMG 81 on the bridge and thats it) and you are definitely inspiring me to get an EX Black Metal. Definitely you are a bad influence 🤣
What value pot did you use in the guitars with passive pickups? Great video! Thanks
I believe 500k iirc
Do you have a baritone Phoenix? Maybe I missed it, but they just put out a new range of them and they look sweet
I would love one but you can't buy them anywhere yet
Need the new silverburst!
Amazing. I’m dying to try a Phoenix! Anyone play these in classical position? Comfortable?
Yes, got one for my son, who lives in another town, and kept finding excuses for not delivering it. It are much more balanced than my '76 Firebird.
I really like the LTD white Arctic Metal series. Does the white fade to a yellow over time? Can't wait for the pickup comparison!
My old one is slightly starting to change color. I'm just going to have to accept that it happens :)
@@SonicDriveStudio A pity, they look killer brand new.
Pls. Try the dimarzio X2N on one of those black phoenix
I wonder if the same is true for the 57/66 TW set.
Nice guitars indeed!!! One question: I see you have 2 identical orange tiny terror, I say ok,maybe you changed the tubes, but how come you have 2 Whammy DT? I also have it but 2?? Is there a particular reason? Just asking, don’t get me wrong :)
I collected all the whammies basically and I couldn't help myself, I had to get a couple of duplicates here and there
I don't have any duplicate amps though
these are the two guitars you got instead of the 50w stealth head? you said that in some commenz here i think, i hate you for that but i have to admit that i love your guitars, cheers bro 🎸🖤
Haha instead of the 6L6, yes! :)
@@SonicDriveStudio maybe its the same for you, sometimes i have a uncontrollable GAS for just amps, sometimes for just pedals or guitars..-🤷♂️😂
@@Turbo-D Yup :)
Hey! So we not gonna see an Iconic on your channel any soon?
I don't have one
What case do you use for your phoenix
I would maybe switch the pick guards of the two new ones ? not to have two times the exact same guitar - black on white would look great, white on black maybe not so much but yolo or not yolo
Coule be cool... Not sure yet
Nice😍Set!!!
"When I win the lottery or simply make a lot of money - I won't tell anyone, but there will be signs..."
👍👍
You planning to get the 7 string version?
I hope so. Can't get it anywhere yet
10:40 "TBH, I don't have an endless budget for" more than these 4 identical guitars and the other 2 of this model that are not quite identical.
You know I want more right? Haha to be fair, 4 of these still cost less than a custom shop Gibson
waiting for the 7 string video haha
Haha me too
@@SonicDriveStudio hi john, this is random but I just want to say you sound American, never thought you are from Netherlands
@@AceBambam Thanks! I do my best. I think my accent is far from perfect but the fact that my dad is from England has helped me a bit...
Sell all the rest and buy more Phoenix! :)
obviously it's becuase the black one is for metal and the other is for rock.
Are those guitars neck heavy?
Not particularly
I would sell them all and buy the M8M ;)
Man, the M80M should not be underestimated!
@@SonicDriveStudio True, I have that one and completely adore it! The M8M is insanely expensive too… I was just thinking 6x the Phoenix, and the M8M will rise ;)
I love these Phoenixes so much so I'm definitely not looking to get rid of them anytime soon
@@SonicDriveStudio and you shouldn’t! Looking forward to hear them in an upcoming video! Cheers mate.
Great guitars. Make it with a floyd. Make it with 2 PU's. Make it with flag inlays. Make it not a boomer axe even though I'm a F"in boomer. Make it more metal. Own 3 firebirds(Gibsons of course)but hate chopping them up for this shit.
Every non-professional guitar player should only have 1 electric guitar. To save forests
You know what, maybe there will come a day when most guitars aren't made out of wood anymore. I'm excited to see what the future brings! I've yet to play a non wooden guitar though
because that is rock n roll. dont even need to watch this. ha ha ha
