I have watched these movies for years, and NEVER noticed, that when CiCi was walking away from the tv, Nosferatu was playing, I’m assuming paying homage to her show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Can’t believe I’ve NEVER noticed it before lol
I loved how Sarah Michelle Gellar was cast in this the same year she did I know What you Did Last Summer (which was written by the same writer as Scream) and Buffy The Vampire Slayer. A small fun detail in her scene is she’s watching “Nosferatu”, as if she’s studying it for her eventual role as The Slayer.
Buffy (mar-jun 1996) was filmed almost a whole year before both I know What you Did Last Summer (may-jun 1997) and Scream 2 (jul-sep 1997), it wasn't broadcasted until march 1997 though.
I love Scream 2. People nitpick the hell out of it sometimes, but it's a worthy sequel to an amazing movie. I'm glad you recognize the state of mind that Sid is in at the end of this because it's very present in Scream 3.
Also, Gale likely had decent sources within the police that could feed her info on both the murders and the subsequent investigation for her book. And then she'd probably add a bit herself here and there for the missing parts. The opening scene to Stab is also clearly an exaggeration of the actual event from the first movie - so it's both taking some leeway in terms of facts, while in a meta way commenting on the fact that real events are often polished up or exaggerated upon when adapted for Hollywood entertainment.
@@DunlinRoad exactly, in the reaction edit we didn't see if they noticed that Gail wrote the movie. Just as a reporter she would have had the wherewithal to find information or surmise about struggles throughout the house and of course the final result.
Porgy T, I'm guessing they didn't see that because when Gale sees Dewey for the first time Dewey talks about his character in the book "The Woodsboro Murders" which he didn't like the way he was written. And the movie Stab was based off Gale's book. Which leads further to their lack of understanding why they don't understand why Dewey gets snippy with Gale each time he sees her.
forensic investigators more or less could piece together what happened after Steve was killed. The chair through the window, the fire, the other broken window, and after she was stabbed they would know where she was standing because of the blood on the ground and when and how far she made it after. And the conversation is mostly wrong and doesn’t follow the first movie. I think it’s more weird Gale apparently knew and wrote about Sidney and Billy talking in the hallway at school.
I noticed between scream 1-4 gen x loves scream 1 & 2 the best Gen z- loves scream 1 & 4 the best Millennials love them all Scream 3 & 5 (scream 2022) was written by different people and both have different vibes
A little Easter egg - in the beginning, prior to the first kill, you hear the killer in the stall talking in a high pitched voice like a child, and you can hear the words "kill" and "Mommy" (among other things) several times. When you factor Mrs. Loomis into the plot, I always took this as a nod to Betsy Palmer's Pamela Voorhees from the original Friday the 13th, who did that throughout the film. Rewatch that scene with the volume turned up, and watch a clip from the original Friday the 13th with Mrs. Voorhees doing that voice off-screen, and you'll see what I mean. It's a clear reference! I prefer the first film over the second, but the second might have the sharpest writing. The commentary, not just about film and sequels, but about crime, criminal celebrity, violence in media, and conservative backlash, is so biting and clever that the script oozes 1990s.
I love that when Derek is shot, she immediately covers his wound, essentially checking it to make sure it’s real since Billy faked his in the first movie
I didn't realize it until the 2nd time I watched this movie, but Mickey almost always has a camcorder with him. That's the footage that the killer plays when Dewey and Gale are reviewing their footage.
Gale wrote the book based on the events of the first movie. I feel like she probably took some artistic license with what happened. Obviously there weren't witnesses to the opening kill,so she probably made a lot of it up. On a side note the opening sequence has one of my pet peeves of going to the theater. People who get up to go to the bathroom and for snacks after the movie starts is so annoying,it disrupts the others wanting to watch the movie.
This was satisfying to watch. First time I watched this I also guessed Mickey and the Reporter, but like you two I was extremely shocked it was Billy's Mother. Made for in my opinion one of the best killer reveals.
loved the reaction, guys :) the next 3 are a continuous streak of great ones- scream 3 is both super campy and funny and has a great commentary on certain things (don’t wanna spoil it though), scream 4 has aged amazingly and two of the new characters are massive fan favourites for a reason and 5 is a perfect blend of super creepy and super fun
Are you insane? Scream 3 is already a big step down, mostly not really funny, and it was badly written. Kevin Williamson did not provide the script, and they decided against an age rating of 18. Scream 3 was dumb, especially the resolution. Scream 4 was nothing but stupid and not remotely on the level of 1 & 2. It was as bad as Scream 3. And Scream 5: no words. Complete shit, trash, a dumpster fire of mdoern movie making with woke shit, weak characters, badly written, a stupid plot etc. There are only two great Scream movies: 1 & 2. The rest is like Terminator: They don't really exist and should have never been made.
Eh, 5 comes close. People don’t give it enough credit now cause it’s a new one and as far as the internet is concerned, all new movies suck until they’re old enough to be nostalgic and cool to like, but it’s a solid return to form, imo
Wow! Amazing reaction!! You guys were killing me; pun intended! I saw S2 in the movie theater with some friends. The intro of the movie takes place in a theater. That alone completely freaked me out so much that I sat on the edge of my seat. I purposely didn't sit back in my chair out of fear that someone was going to shove a knife through the back of my seat! Something about seeing a movie like this in a theater will mess with you. Anyway, fave part of the reaction? When Samantha yelled “F*CK!”😭😂😭😂 FYI: The original killers in Scream 2 were Sidney’s boyfriend Derek and her roommate Hallie. When this film came out, the internet was really taking off. Well, the script for this film was somehow leaked online which circulated like wildfire. Kevin Williamson had to rewrite the ending where he then came up with 2 new killers; Mickey and Debbie Salt aka Debbie Loomis. If it felt like certain cues in the film were being pointed at Derek and Hallie, it was because they would have been the ones committing the murders Please watch ALL the films. I would love to see y'all do the rest of them! ⭐️🥰🙌🏼
This film is brilliant. I had the same reaction as Sam when Dewey got knifed. I seen this opening night in the theater and I wanted to walk out when I thought Dewey was dead. I loved how this started in a movie theater and ended on a theatrical stage. Laurie Metcalfe knocked it out of the park as Mrs. Loomis. The whole cast is awesome. Also, the killer is the reverse of the Friday The 13th trivia question that tripped up Drew Barrymore in the first one. It was Jason’s mother, Mrs. Vorhees, who was the killer in the original F13 and it is Mrs. Loomis, Billy’s mom, who is the killer in the sequel. All of the Scream sequels are worth watching, but the best are one and two. Loved your reaction.
Fantastic reaction. Loved how much you guys jumped. So excited to see you watch the rest. Scream 3 has a lighter tone due to world events at the time (Columbine shooting), but it's still a fun ride. The beauty of the Scream movies is that there's no real "bad" entry. All of them have something great to offer.
Scream 3 has a lighter tone because Kevin Williamson didn't write it. He didn't leave because of Columbine, he left because the studio wanted to change too many things about his script same as what happened with Scream 4(he wrote half of it but then left). Weinstein and the other people at that company screwed him over and then the Wayans brothers with Scary Movie and many other people.
Have you ever seen kevin bacon’s tv show “the following” apparently the plot of that tv show was the original plot of scream 3. Kevin Williamson couldn’t work on scream 3 so he took his original idea and made a show about it years later .
@@Guy_Dude I haven't seen it, but I heard that it was Scream 3's original storyline. Would have been amazing had the production companies not meddled with his ideas.
@@Guy_Dude I know he didn't leave because of Columbine. The tone of the movie was made lighter because of the Columbine shooting. They had to tone down the violence because the world was in a dark place.
I liked your reaction to the discussion in the Film Theory class about sequels. I'm sure this channel has been similarly educational...without the added student loans.
there is no "3rd rule" officially and it was cut on purpose because it may have spoiled the movie. A good 3rd rule for a sequel would be "don't kill your main girl" like so many horror movies did back then and killed the franchise with it. But stating that would have been a bit too much that's why they cut it.
I love that they had Nosferatu playing during Sarah Michelle Gellar's scene. The second season of Buffy had just started airing 2 months prior to the film premiering.
I've seen every Scream film in theatres. I actually got to see Scream 2 in theatres a couple of weeks ago for its 25th anniversary. The Scream films are my favorite films of all time. Thanks for your reaction. I hope you do the rest of the series.
The original killers in this movie were supposed to be Hallie and Derek but the script leaked online and they had to make changes. Mickey was killed early on in the original script that's why he's missing for almost the entire movie.
Some fun facts for you. 1. During CiCi (Sarah Michelle Gellar) scene, there are quite a few things happening. She was talking to Selma Blair on the phone before she talked to ghostface and in between. They are best friends and they co-stared in "Cruel Intentions" together and when they were talking on the phone they were talking about Bailey on "Party of Five" which was the tv series that Neve Campbell (Sidney) was doing during all of the three Screams. Also, Jennifer Love Hewitt was also in "Party of Five" as Baileys girlfriend thats who they were talking about regarding a break up. She, of course, also co-stars in IKWYDLS with SMG. She also turned on a vampire movie as a reference to her Buffy. Sarah Michelle Gellar was very busy in 97 she was doing this, I know what you did last summer and 2nd season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. - Neve was also really busy in the late 90's. Same year Scream 96 came out her and Skeet Ulrich (Billy) did "The Craft" together, she was doing her tv series "Party of Five" and also filmed "Wild Things" with Kevin Bacon and Matt Dillon in 97 the same year Scream 2 came out. Courtney Cox (Gale) was doing "friends" the whole time she was doing "Scream, Scream 2 and 3. 2. Originally, it was supposed to be Ms. Loomis hiring Derek and Hallie as the killers and Mickey as the supportive friend to Sidney, but it got leaked while filming, so they changed it to Ms. Loomis and Mickey as the killers. I'm glad it was changed, or it would have been repetitive. 3.) Chief Hartley is David Arquette father. He died in 01. 4.) Matthew Lillard and Neve were dating at the time, and when he was visiting on set, they asked him if he wanted to be an extra in the party scene, lol. He was in the background kinda blurred, but he had blonde hair and could hear him saying hi to Mickey I think it was. He was standing in the distance behind the sorority sisters while they were talking with Sidney, trying to get her to join.
Imo the only sequel that could possibly top the original. I love this movie sm it’s my favorite sequel and it’s the only opening that doesn’t involve a house. Like the idea of being murdered in plain sight is scary.
6:49 Dewey's theme in this is one of my favorite pieces of movie music, it's actually the track 'Mine' from Hans Zimmer's score for Broken Arrow, it was used as a temp track during production and they decided to keep it in the finished movie.
I don't know if has been mentioned, but the Ghostface flying out of the screen and over the heads of the audience is a nod to director William Castle; who had a gimmick called "Emerge-O", where a skeleton would fly out over the audience during one of his movies.
I love your reactions guys, you never fake anything,or fake excitment or curiousity. You are super genuine,100k soon thats big big :D Keep it up guys. May i request Game of Thonres and House of Dragons? Even if youre sceptical youll still think its best show ever, especially Game of Thrones.
You are right about Jada Pinkett. She was an even bigger name in the 90s than she is today. They used her and SMG in the promo material, much like they did Drew Barrymore.
I've had this theory for as long as I can remember regarding the car scene. I believe Mickey was knocked out originally, but when Sid hit the horn, I think it woke him up but pretended to still be knocked out. That way, the girls mostly Sidney were out of the car since he wasn't allowed to actually kill her and for her to be lure to the theater building for Ms. Loomis to act on her revenge. Because he got out WAY too quickly after they did and then did like a syke trick, making them think they are safe just to turn around and kill Hallie to mess with Sid mentally and emotionally even more.
Fun fact: The actor who played the older police officer when Gale and Dewey are working out the details of the first couple of murders is Lewis Arquette, David Arquette's (Dewey) real life father.
Derek and Hallie were supposed to be the accomplices in this movie. Their motive was the same as Mickey's, get famous from the trial. The same thing still happens, Mrs. Loomis is planning to get her revenge and disappear, so she kills them. Someone leaked the script though, so the ending had to be changed, and thats how we got Mickey as the accomplice.
So for in this movie, it's pretty easy of a breakdown on which killer did what. Ms. Loomis was only interested in Gale obviously since she was constantly on her heals lol and Sidney, but she couldn't risk Sidney seeing her till she was ready cause she'd recognize her like she did right away in the final Act. Gale because she literally wrote a book about her son and how she helped Sidney to kill her beloved angel of a son lol. Sidney also for obvious reason cause she did kill her son and her mom was what broke her family. Ms. Loomis tried to kill Dewey as a collateral he was someone that Gale really cared for, like how Billy was someone she cared for. Randy was NEVER the target he didn't play any critical role in her son's death it was meant for Gale, hense, the statement, "Why are you even here Randy?" But HE answered HER phone and talked bad about her son, so she got knife happy like she explained to Sidney at the end. Mickey was the actual copycat he gave the tickets to Phil Steven's and Maureen. Also killed CiCi, obviously Hallie, Derek, and the detectives. He was only allowed to torment Sidney, which he did mentally, but she was to be left for Ms. Loomis to act on her revenge

@@clevelandcbiI always thought everyone knew this as John Woo's Broken Arrow was just as popular when it came out.
@@ChadSimpson-ft7yz You'd be surprised. I was literally the only person in my friend group that recognized it.
I have watched these movies for years, and NEVER noticed, that when CiCi was walking away from the tv, Nosferatu was playing, I’m assuming paying homage to her show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Can’t believe I’ve NEVER noticed it before lol
Glad you enjoyed. This is a great franchise. Looking forward to the rest of your reactions.
xo
Closing in on 100 K guys, get that plaque ready youtube.
For a rushed production they did well but their are some justifiable criticisms while still have some good chase scenes like Gale's chase.
There were no eye witnesses to some of the kills in Scream 1, but the killers could have left a diary with detailed accounts of their murders.
It actually isn’t hard to discern what happened with a few police photos and hearing the MO from over characters
forensic investigators more or less could piece together what happened after Steve was killed.
I noticed between scream 1-4
gen x loves scream 1 & 2 the best
Gen z- loves scream 1 & 4 the best
Millennials love them all
Scream 3 & 5 (scream 2022) was written by different people and both have different vibes
So who loves number 1 then 3 then 2 then 4?
True scream 3 was written by someone else although the first 4 was directed by Wes so that still counts.
I saw this film in theaters and the theater had employees dressed up as Ghostface creeping around the theater lol..
I love how Cotton ran for dear life when Mickey popped back up at the end as the ladies shot him dead. Priceless!
“Okkk… I think he’s innocent” 😂 💀
I love that when Derek is shot, she immediately covers his wound, essentially checking it to make sure it’s real since Billy faked his in the first movie
Lol what? Or she’s just just putting her hands on it in some feeble attempt to stop the bleeding. Don’t pull a muscle with those stretches lol
I think she knew it was real by that point.
Made for in my opinion one of the best killer reveals.
loved the reaction, guys :)
the next 3 are a continuous streak of great ones- scream 3 is both super campy and funny and has a great commentary on certain things (don’t wanna spoil it though), scream 4 has aged amazingly and two of the new characters are massive fan favourites for a reason and 5 is a perfect blend of super creepy and super fun
Scream 3 is so damn funny! I snort laugh every time I watch it lmao … god I love this franchise
@@bobbwc7011 it was fucking hilarious lol
@@Steef_Lee I'm so glad you love it too! Parker Posey stole the show for me in the third one
@@bobbwc7011 I am not about to read all of that, Bob, but if you wanna be that pressed about movies, then knock yourself out
I like that you added the words across the screen whenever a character does something stupid, nice touch 👍🏽
I always love y'alls reactions and this one was no different. I'm really looking forward to the reactions to Scream 3, 4, and 5.
I am writing this to help out Tbr Schmitt and Samantha and this video and this channel with the algorithm ✌️❤️😚☺️
Such an amazing sequel. None of the others come even close but they are still enjoyable.
Eh, 5 comes close. People don’t give it enough credit now cause it’s a new one and as far as the internet is concerned, all new movies suck until they’re old enough to be nostalgic and cool to like, but it’s a solid return to form, imo
Samantha's "FUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKK!" made me laugh out loud 🤣 😂
Man, I hope Top Gun (and it's sequel) is on your list of upcoming reactions! This was really fun to watch, thanks guys!
Wow! Amazing reaction!! You guys
were killing me; pun intended! I saw S2 in the movie theater with some friends. The intro of the movie takes place in a theater. That alone completely freaked me out so much that I sat on the
edge of my seat. I purposely didn't sit back in my chair out of fear that someone was going to shove a knife through the back of my seat! Something about seeing a movie like this in a theater will mess with you. Anyway, fave part of the reaction? When Samantha yelled “F*CK!”😭😂😭😂
FYI: The original killers in Scream 2 were Sidney’s boyfriend Derek and her roommate Hallie. When this film came out, the internet was really taking off. Well, the script for this film was somehow leaked online which circulated like wildfire. Kevin Williamson had to rewrite the ending where he then came up with 2 new killers; Mickey and Debbie Salt aka Debbie Loomis. If it felt like certain cues in the film were being pointed at Derek and Hallie, it was because they would have been the ones committing the murders
Please watch ALL the films.
I think Scream 2 is and will always be my favorite of the series.
It's got a lot of issues but it's still good despite them.
You guys should watch Broken Arrow (1996), you'll notice it has Dewey's theme in it!
Yeah Broken Arrow came out first but the theme was used well in this.
@@Guy_Dude That's not why. Williamson was working on other projects and the Weinsteins didn't want to wait until he was available.
I loved the reaction as always 😂😂 but the way you guys reacted when you thought Dewey died was priceless I love it 😁 🤙🏽
I love that they had Nosferatu playing during Sarah Michelle Gellar's scene.
I saw scream 2 a couple weeks ago too! In theater
@@williamweber9390 Nice! Fun experience.
Recommendation: Ghostbusters Afterlife with Mid & Post credit scenes.
Great reaction! Def have to continue with sequels as they all keep you guessing! You will luv them.
“YOU SUCK”
I literally giggled out loud 😂 it caught me off guard haha. I really enjoy y’all’s videos ❤️❤️
As I’m typing I saw
“F###CK!!!”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The original killers in this movie were supposed to be Hallie and Derek but the script leaked online and they had to make changes. Mickey was killed early on in the original script that's why he's missing for almost the entire movie.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Scream 2 is my favorite in the franchise.
love this movie! cant wait til you guys get to Scream 3.
3 is under appreciated.
Wow... so cute her reaction "No i dont watch this anymore!" Second and the fourth are my favorite.
Perfect timing y'all, can't wait to watch.
Ikr
I waited a year for this to come out since y’all reacted to the first movie! Glad to see it.
Haha when he asked what SMG would do if GF was there when she checked behind the door was my first reaction too.
6:49 Dewey's theme in this is one of my favorite pieces of movie music, it's actually the track 'Mine' from Hans Zimmer's score for Broken Arrow, it was used as a temp track during production and they decided to keep it in the finished movie.
PS Sorry if people have already said this, I didn't read all 400+ comments before posting 😅
You're my fav channel for reactions by far. I love how you take time to analyse the movie and share your thoughts.
I saw this movie in the theater when it first came out and I still think about it every time I go into a bathroom stall.
LOVE scream II. one of the best sequels.
6:37 the delivery of that entire line is the greatest in cinema history dont @ me
I don't know if has been mentioned, but the Ghostface flying out of the screen and over the heads of the audience is a nod to director William Castle; who had a gimmick called "Emerge-O", where a skeleton would fly out over the audience during one of his movies.
If you pay attention, when Ghostface attacks Dewey and Gale in the classroom, you can hear Mrs. Loomis grunting when Gale hits her in the face
I love your reactions guys, you never fake anything,or fake excitment or curiousity. You are super genuine,100k soon thats big big :D
Keep it up guys.
May i request Game of Thonres and House of Dragons? Even if youre sceptical youll still think its best show ever, especially Game of Thrones.
I guess you guys will not be able to avoid Gayle Weathers bangs in Scream 3. Arguably, the most unsettling part of Scream 3 😂
You are right about Jada Pinkett. She was an even bigger name in the 90s than she is today. They used her and SMG in the promo material, much like they did Drew Barrymore.
In these films, I am always curious as to which killer is the "active killer" in each murder. Most especially in the first film.
Mrs Loomis only killed Randy
I've had this theory for as long as I can remember regarding the car scene.
I believe Mickey was knocked out originally, but when Sid hit the horn, I think it woke him up but pretended to still be knocked out. That way, the girls mostly Sidney were out of the car since he wasn't allowed to actually kill her and for her to be lure to the theater building for Ms. Loomis to act on her revenge. Because he got out WAY too quickly after they did and then did like a syke trick, making them think they are safe just to turn around and kill Hallie to mess with Sid mentally and emotionally even more.
LMAO!!! I didn't realize it till he held the bloody knife toward the camera but Mickey is Timothy Olyphant!!!! Holy shit!! 🤣😂🤣😂
Fun fact: The actor who played the older police officer when Gale and Dewey are working out the details of the first couple of murders is Lewis Arquette, David Arquette's (Dewey) real life father.
*Chief Hartley
21:36 "Oh my gawd. They got him with a bunch of p... OH MY GAWWWWWD!" 😂😂😂😂
"Never, ever, under any circumstances assume the killer is dead."
The Third rule
This is one of my favorite movies. It's actually my very favorite Scream film.
I think of this movie every time someone starts whispering in a public restroom, which happens astoundingly too-often.
Best thing about the Scream movies is that they are so clever and it's never repetitive. You gotta watch all the others! Best openings are 1, 2 and 6!
Great reaction, guys! Just discovered you two, will go down the rabbit hole! Congrats.
21:33 love the obvious dummy on the car 😆
Derek and Hallie were supposed to be the accomplices in this movie. Their motive was the same as Mickey's, get famous from the trial. The same thing still happens, Mrs. Loomis is planning to get her revenge and disappear, so she kills them. Someone leaked the script though, so the ending had to be changed, and thats how we got Mickey as the accomplice.
They actually leaked the real script but by the time it was leaked no one cared because scripts got leaked so much.
In the orginal script killers was Mrs Loomis, Derek and Hallie.
They change it afrer script appeared in the internet before movie premiere.
Rule #3 is actually in the trailer........“never, ever, under any circumstances assume the killer is dead"
Y'alls content is some of my favorite. So chill and kicked back. Love it. So happy I came across y'all. Much love
