I love Superior Drummer I have been a user since 2006
these samples sound so freaking good, they keep getting better and better. going back to Metal Foundry sounds like cardboard boxes compared to these
Thanks for the demo. Got the software and it is frustrating to use as the don't use standard keyboard shortcuts - unlike pretty much every other program you have to start using the Alt key instead of the Command key! Very frustrating bug!
Great intro and I can't wait to see the videos ur gonna make out of this.
Dude already have it on pre order! Can't wait to see you use it in a production tutorial.
hi have you tried the electronic kits?
Dear Roland Company!
I love my TD-50 kit and especially the new digital pads! (still waiting for the rest of the drumkit to be digital!)
But guys: This is how the module should sound!!!
I don't want to carry an extra laptop and interface to my gigs in order to have a professional drumsound!
Nobody would need those endless editing possibilities in the module leading to nowhere when the onboard samples sound like superior drummer!
Only my opinion, but i guess I'm not the only one!
Great video. Thank you for taking your time and being direct. Love this software
Thanks for a good demo of SD3
sure thing!
Sounds really great and natural!
SD3 is the most realistic drum plugin on the market. if you turn of all the effects it sounds like a real recording drumset in best room with best mics
it's cleeaaan :)
Thanks Sean, finally get to see some of these features! Is it possible to use multiple samples for one drum? Like if I want to layer a SD3 stock snare and my own snare samples that have 5 velocity hits, is it possible to tell SD3 'play sample_1 on this velocity of the snare hit and sample_2 on that velocity etc'? ALSO while that's going on can you stack an x-drum at the same time so a midi note plays a stock snare, an EZX snare and a 3rd party sample snare?
Hi Mark! Just spoke with Toontrack about this... Yes, you can add up to 127 total samples. After importing and stacking your samples you can use the ”Velocity Gate” function on the right to set at which velocity each sample should be triggered. You highlight the sample (blue outline) and then use the "Velocity Gate" to adjust velocity on that highlighted sample.
Hot diggidy! Thanks Sean!
What's your set up, I don't the computer, memory, etc? Are you using all the surroundsound mics? I'm using a late 2016 MacBook Pro with 16 gigs of RAM. 8 GB seems a bit of a stretch when I'm using other sound libraries that are being streamed from the hard drive.
Hey Damian, I'm on an older iMac with 12 gigs of ram, quad core 2.8. This was using only the basic install (not all mic options) and takes up about 40gb of hd space. Your setup should be more than enough :)
Just bought it last week amazing drums.
i have a lot of EZX's and EZD 2 :) hi there ! are there any Simmons, 909 Roland and DMX included ? ?
Aye so happy you were able to get your hands on this and show us the insides. Seems like a nice plugin
Hey Sean, thank you for this demo. I am planning to buy an electronic drum set for using with vst plugins, and I am looking for the best balance between budget and ergonomics. Meaning I don't want to spend a lot of money in a sound module that I won't use at the end, and also don't want some drums that are so cheap that it is a pain to play them.
I am more used to play acustic drums, but my neighbours don't like the noise, that's why I am think about moving to electric drums. Also I would like to record directly with Logic and not use a lot of gear for acustic recording. What would you do in if you were in my shoes?
Hey Mauricio, I have an older Roland V-Drum set (very similiar to the TD-11K). It's a nice balance of responsive pads and a decent sound module with midi. I typically use plugins like SD3 for my sounds within Logic so the module sounds don't get used much but it has a midi output / routing capabilities for any DAW. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the info Sean, it does help actually. Roland TD11KV was my first choice, the TD25KV is nice but other than the HiHat and the size of the pads, I don't see the point of the extra bucks if I am not going to make any use out of the sound module. Again thanks man, subscribed already!
Just curious... what controller are you using to trigger the software? Sounds awesome!
hey Wilson, I'm using the nektar lx61+
Looks awesome. Heard a lot of gd things about Sup Drummer. But no browser? You have to deal with a pop up window everytime you want to load a new drum? Kinda has me looking at Reason Drum Kit instead.
soundwise, the samples are unmatched imo!
3:31 to 3:41 - That was just mind blowing!!
thanks :)
Loving toontrack, but i feel this is too large to download, do they do a hard drive version?
they do! www.toontrack.com/product/superior-drummer-3-ssd-disk/
thanks for the detailed sound quaitly demo.
That is a no-brainer... I already use EZDrummer 2, so this is a must have...
You need both?
These sound great :) Are these personal settings or software?
Wow .. awsome .. great preview ..
Were you ever in a drumline? Just wondering... lol
I'm a drummer first :) played kit / snare in hs
Amazing. Love it !
how can i play SD3 without using the mouse ? it only works with a sequencer ?? i need adding something manual
Great video - your style is perfect for presenting information. Very useful to me as I am going to be upgrading tonight. If you read this, can you answer a question? If I install the whole thing on a non-SSD drive, will it affect the latency, etc? (My DAW is on Drive C, an SSD)
it depends on the drive stats / connection type. That said, I have my samples / sounds on an older 2.0 USB (G Drive) with no latency issues
Whats going on..Well you know. I am watching the video
Thank you for the demo! I love the program and am still learning every time I use it. I am having a problem that I can't find the answer to.. I can drag and drop grooves from sup3 into logic no problem. Once I drag a groove into the sup editor and mess with it, I can't drag it our of the sup3 editor (edit playstyle or grid) into logic. It just doesn't let me. Any tips would be great! Thank you!
My plug in addiction has eaten all my memory up. SD3 is 250GB's is it possible to run plugins from an external hard drive? Or do you just delete plug-ins your currently not into?
Yes, I keep all my larger plugin libraries on external HDs
I am sure you could run this easily off a thunderbolt or usb 3 SS drive
guys, pls help. so far I have been using EZ drummer, and it required to be put in a base program(e.g. Fl studio, ableton, cubase etc,). my question is, does sd 3 work on its own - cause from this video it seems to - or does it still need a daw for creating my own midi track? thanks for answers.
good demo
I like the UNPOLISHED drums. I like to do the processing myself. I just want raw drum sounds
Non standard keyboard shortcuts. No ability to get down to the individual instruments in the groove area like in SD2. Fail and fail. Are they serious about this software being for pros?
Not right now (currently poor due to buying Kontakt libraries). Also, I have so many drum libraries already.
I want to use this plug in to easily play and quantize sounds using my alesir md10. Possible?
I want to use my dm10 alesis kit and this plug in to quantize and record my drums. is that crazy or fairly easy? I dont want to program individual midi channels for each drum!
On my to buy list.
Hi, my superior drummer 3 HAS NO DRUM KITS, HELP!
As far as importing your own samples, how many can you import per instrument? Is it like Perfect Drums when you can have many hits of the same drum so it doesn't sound robotic, or is it just one hit?
I think he meant like different velocity layers and from what I've read this is actually not possible which is a little bit of a bummer :(
I'll look into this!
FYI: 8 samples are nothing if you want authentic Jazz or Fusion drums !
it is possible :)
You can stack up to 127 samples and use the velocity gate feature on the right to trigger samples at different velocities
How was he triggering the sound of the snare drums (maybe everything else)? I saw he used both hands to try the first snaredrum, so i asume he is using a keyboard or something else. Can someone explain further? I´m really intresting in getting my hands on this kind of recording software/setup in the next days.
Hi Mauricio, I was triggering the plugin with a keyboard midi controller
I´ll check them out. Thanks for the info Sean!
Hi! what kind of controller do you use? Master keyboard or what? thanks!!
nektar lx61+. I also use the roland td4 kit from time to time to trigger SD3!
nice i would used it its real
How do roll on the snare like that? is that two keys on the keyboard?
Can the kit be played like that, on the keyboard?
yep! the snare is mapped to two keys next to one another :)
Dope. On my music list.
Can we hear it in a mix ??
when you were playing the toms, seemed like you were on some quints.. lol. Nerd talk.. lol
SD 3 samples have way more "life" to them than any other sdx, ezx!
OK folks, when SD3 is in Logic as a plugin, The record button in SD3 is greyed. I was able to record a Bass Drum in the SD3 GUI, but nothing else. I'm obviously trying to figure it out. The Manual dosen't cover the plugin mode function at all. What I've been doing is recording the midi in logic, then exporting it as a midi file, then draggin the midi file to the SD3 GUI..........Too many steps for software that costs $400. What am I doing wrong? Also, Why can't I play an audio file in SD3 to build a song from, i.e. a guitar track.
Muito real Ezdrummer 2 ou Superior Drummer 3??
Can you separate each part of the drums such as the Kick on its own Individual track, the snare on its own track, etc & import them into your DAW?
sure can! You can make it a multi output instrument with each track routed to it's own mixer channel
Hi Sean, could you help me??
what's up Sheep?
FUCK YEAH
Open question - can anyone tell me if installing everything on a secondary drive (my E: drive which is NOT an SSD) will affect performance?
How do I plug this program with my electronic drums?
I use a set of roland td4s and just adjust the midi output channel for each pad accordingly
I'm up for that
like it
Can i get a discount on it
$400 !? Steven Slate Platinum for $150. Interface is older but damn sounds just as good
I have lot's of Slate's drums going back to his first releases in Kontact. They are alright, but extremely processed and plasticy sounding. These are naturally recorded drum samples with full bleed and you can do a lot with them to fit a variety of mixes. And Slate's software is so primitive it just get's annoying.
Superior Drummer vs Addictive Drums
How are you playing? On a piano? Or what ?
yes, midi controller
Heeey Sean Divine, provide this folder of kicks to us?!?! ;D ;D :D
why is nobody changing the damn kits! dont u have any expansions , sheesh
250GB too much disc space
this video is only using the basic install (about 40gb) and I still think it sounds fantastic!
its a hard drive hog. samples take up over 200GB ffs
0:44 "Superior Drummer Dree" ? - No, it's called "Superior Drummer 3". And to prove that the guy _can_ say "three" properly if he wants to - 1:16
because that's important...
James Hughes I think so, yes. I hate "cool" talk.
addictive drums sounds better
link for download mac osx version ?
