Because... well afaik Darkness is a virgin without any relationship experience. And i think the bath scene on the first season show she is all talk, but very insecure when things get intimate. Plus, she describes often her desire to be bullied/degraded specially by Kazuma. Though acording to the light novel, Megumin is fated to be Kazuma's love interest.

It's this arc which made me so sad kazuma ended up with megumin. Literally the perfect setup to a kazuma darkness romance and all just for character conflict later on.
You know what, this is the only other anime where I could accept a “we never learn” finale, LN readers get his relationship with megumin, manga readers get darkness And anime watchers get harem route that is nobody wants Kazuma.
