Aqua isn't really useless. It just she always do her job randomly. Some times she just can't do anything. But when everyone lost hope, she suddenly fixes their problem without any difficulties lol.

She ain't useless its just that her usefulness is for specific scenarios. Like she's useless vs normal monsters that doesn't have any holy and water weakness.

The problem is the spell Aqua used is a high level spell. However because her intelligence stat is still lvl 1 it has a low level effect. This is most evident with Wiz. Had Aqua had her intelligence stat higher the spell would have vaporized Wiz very quickly but instead she slowly began to disappear until Kazuma recognized Wiz is a good Litch and saved her from Aqua multiple times.

Aqua is a goddess, her weakest holy spells can clear any undead. Ainz said that because he was hurt by a weak holy spell yet Kazuma walked up, smacked her and carried her away with zero issues. If someone could harm him like that in his world their stats wouldn't even let them feel Kazuma's punches.
After Aqua broke the curse on Darkness' father, I felt like a total moron for believing they would let him die like that. As if I forgot I was watching Konosuba. OF COURSE Aqua was gonna break the curse.

I remember some really old D&D fantasy series, where God of Light traveled with our heroes (as old demented mage or something) , of only one dark mage ( much to his horror) was aware. And his behaviour was similar. Not something you can rely on, but in pinch can pull miracle out of his arse.
I was waiting for the punchline for so long, but they held this sad moment for so long the nano second I thought this was getting real Aqua just zaps him.
