Whitetails snort loudly when they are startled to reveal to them whatever predator might be nearby. They swish their tails as they run away and glance back to see what might be chasing them. It's a way to foil an ambush.
@@walkwithcarrie she smelled you. The only defense is to sit downwind of the deer. They have a more keen sense of smell than coyotes. The sound she makes is called "blowing'. @@homeostasis4me485 I've seen tons of does stomp when they know something isn't quite right or they see you in your stand but can't quite figure it out. It's usually the older, smarter ones. I had to watch a nature documentary years ago to realize they made noise, and then I moved to a wooded area that was laden with deer, and experienced the sort of "mewing/howling" noise they make after a few minutes of direct eye contact with you...
i had this experience today. two of them were romping. i stopped to look back and they were watching me. we all stood there for about a minute. i thanked them for showing themselves & turned to walk back to the house. i heard a screech. looked back and the one screeched 2 more times and then walked off. the 2nd one was still standing there quietly.

Never once heard the deer running through the woods so I thought the sound moved cuz it was flying! 😂 It was to my far right and then in front of me a few seconds later. It was dark so I could not see but I sure went inside after I heard it. My dogs went crazy! 😂 So they didn’t get eaten, I made them come inside immediately. 😂😂😂 I later heard the same noise when some does were in my back yard grazing. I was like: OHHHHHHHH!!!! That’s the mystery sound!!!!
Just heard a deer in my backyard (I'm in the deep south) make this noise several times at a feral cat several times. Never heard a buck or doe make noise IRL. Wish I'd had my phone on me to record it.
I was watching three deers in the meadow outside my house, I watched one gallop away into my neighbors and heard some commotion from them and their dogs lol. Then the other two were watching me. I sat and watched them a little while they ate the tall grass, and then they both turned and looked at me as I got up to walk away, the one in the front started making that noise and I was so confused lol, I turn back kinda scared and when I look back I see that the third one returned and they were all making that noise, I was so freaked out and confused i ran back to my house lol.
Man they really are similar to sheep, the way they behave is just like how a sheep does when cautious, yet at the same time its alot like horse's way due to that they move carefully (unlike sheep)
Something just got eaten (made a real racket for a few minutes, you could hear it from far away) in the woods beside my garden in north-eastern France, trying to figure out what it was, I heard it being brought away by whatever got it, when I first heard it I thought it might be the cats fighting but ince outside you realise it is much bigger and noisier than a cat fight... don't think it was a young wild boar, didn't make pig noises and schreaks... my cat came running looking worried and glad to come in...
The vast majority of hunters have a deep respect for deer that none hunters can not understand. Deer hunting pumps millions of dollars into conservative efforts. There is actually a tax on hunting equipment that goes to conservation efforts. Hunters have done more for conservation that groups like green peace could ever dream of. Millions of acres of land have been protected for public use because of hunters. Those public lands are then available for year round use and at the most people are hunting on those lands 2-3 months out of the year. Most hunters aren’t just about the kill it’s about the experience of seeing many different animals interact in a natural environment. Harvesting a deer that provides health organic meat for their families is just a bonus
It’s not like the hunters don’t love the deer. Overpopulation can be very dangerous and the deer can starve to death because there wouldn’t be enough food for them
People don’t realize that whenever deer look at you and then look away, they are trying to get a better angle to see you so don’t move until they start walking again. Deer don’t have amazing eyesight so they look for movement instead of a silhouette.
Did we all hear the same sounds one late night and come running to RUclips to confirm that it was indeed a living creature we heard? 😂

Yes! Ty! This is what I was looking for. That sound is so loud IRL
3:48
Just heard a deer in my backyard (I'm in the deep south) make this noise several times at a feral cat several times. Never heard a buck or doe make noise IRL. Wish I'd had my phone on me to record it.
I hear the frog. And.....finally the deer.
Am I the only Marauders fan that suddenly asked themselves "what noise on earth would Prongs make on a Moony night?"
DOE'S ARE SO PRETTY.
I feel sorry for deer they have to always take a second to hear before walking because of predators and hunters these amazing creatures stay safe 👍
As a hunter you obviously don’t know shit about deers lol
I had no idea these noises I hear in the woods were deer!
That's beautiful doe. Honesty deers are thrilling creatures non deserve to be hunted its just wrong also wolf hunting and etc
It’s not like the hunters don’t love the deer. Overpopulation can be very dangerous and the deer can starve to death because there wouldn’t be enough food for them
Gorgeous!! 🦌🤎
So all this time I thought a ded gum pterodactyl was in the damn woods?
People don’t realize that whenever deer look at you and then look away, they are trying to get a better angle to see you so don’t move until they start walking again. Deer don’t have amazing eyesight so they look for movement instead of a silhouette.
