Ngl Lydia, you take the cake with the way you produce your videos! My Gosh! So well produced! Such quality content! I'm Ghanaian and I've never really appreciated the pageantry and the production behind African traditional events until I watched this video! I was gonna skip a traditional wedding but this video has made me want one! African culture is honestly superior!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was so cute to watch 😊really, i couldn't stop smiling, the live they have for each other is something else, Lord i need this type of love in my life
As a fellow Kenyan-diaspora Luo babe, this brought me to tears. I've never seen our culture and wedding festivities narrated and captured as elegantly and fully as in this series. It's perfect. It's painful how so many of us grow up not understanding these traditions, or even resenting them. And yet, this is so educative and celebratory of who we are and what we stand for. Truly, thank you Lydia for sharing your life and love with us, and illustrating how beautiful it is to be Luo, Kenyan, and African. It's such a beacon of light and an example for younger girlies like me who loveeeee their culture but rarely feel like it's understood, seen, and celebrated. This is how we keep our culture alive. I've always dreamed of doing an ayie, kisera, and nyombo, and this just set the standard - I can't wait, not just to celebrate my own one day, but hopefully to capture it in a way that inspires others to do the same, just like you. Can't wait for Part 3 - love and hugs, God bless!!! 💕💕💕
Well said. I have learnt so much. Lydia knew what she was talking about when she said we have to wait. So informative May God bless your beautiful union 🙏🏽❤
I cried multiple times. Watching your culture on full display really made me so emotional. I'm Caribbean - black people all over the world have such beautiful customs and traditions. And the cinematic quality of these videos??? Lydia PLEASE 😩 the girls need a COURSE
17:20 This looks and feels like a real marriage of two families. You can see the Dinga family really welcomed and host the O's with joy, dignity and love. This is a reflection of what Christ wats for marriage. I love it ❤❤❤
In other cultures they deliberately leave out the bride to make it more entertaining and he will definitely choose wrong then he will be fined for not knowing his bride, if they have more girls and her friends this process can repeat two or three times then eventually the bride will be brought in.
No no no I’m not the only one who has cried through these videos ?? The wedding in London was beautiful but this thisssss this’s speaks to the real meaning of marriage a unity of family’s . When you sell to Netflix darling you invite me to premier ooohh love it
Wow Lydia...this was so special. The dancers...the singers...the inclusion of subtitles so we could understand the songs...seeing how Damini's parents and representatives came to honour you. Can't wait for episode 3, thank you for bringing us all along.
As a Haitian American I feel close to my African culture because my family is from Haiti but there is still a longing feeling that we have lost out on so much. So beautiful to see our people in the motherland land continuing these beautiful traditions. So many of our traditions were lost crossing the Atlantic.
OMG Lydia. This episode just literally brought me to tears. I’m seriously crying tears of joy just watching the HAPPINESS on everyone’s faces. I am African America and this just makes me want to experience these traditions. I LOVE everything about your Nyombo wedding. I watch all your videos but I never comment. I HAD to come here today just to say THANK YOU for inviting us into your family home and your tradition. So BEAUTIFUL ❤
Hey Lydia Girl! Im actually a luo babe from Ethiopia and we call our ceremony Nyom. So when I saw that you call your wedding ceremony Nyombo I felt like a distant cousin lol Watching this series puts joy in my heart because I get to watch our beautiful culture in HD quality!. I wish you and Damini nothing but joy, love and MORE MONEY!!!!!! Can wait for episode 3.
@@michellekwaka7215 Yes, I am sure as we traveled down the river nile we started mixing in bantu languages. The "bo" now could very much be Swahili influenced. But is still Luo based. I love it.
Love the way you are unapologetically Kenyan and always showcase the culture, as a fellow Kenyan its always nice to see our culture appreciated ❤ and can never say this enough but you're cinematography mwuahh eats everyyyytimeee
This was absolutely amazing and I must say S/O to the uncle that said "Lydia is worth more than any monetary value" 👏🏽💯 The process and concept is very similar similar to the South African (Lobola ceremony combined with gift exchanging) however gift exchanging in South Africa is for both families 😊😊 Congratulations on your union and May the Good Lord be the corner stone and the cover of your Union🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
This was so lovely. It’s so funny my mom passed by and was like “oh is that your friend? No. She seems like a friend of yours you watch her so often” lol
As a luo I am proud of how you showcased everything Lydia. Our culture is beautiful and we should show more of it. Very well done and narrated. Reminded me of how my day was.🎉😊 Love this so much ❤
"Chech the back....check the back" that comment when identifying the bride so funny but also so true! I havent attended one of these in a loooong time since moving to the diaspora! This made me miss home (Zimbabwe) so much! I love our wholesome traditions and the similarities. Thanks for sharing.
Now I see where that beautiful spirit derives❤❤❤Your Culture …What a Blessing ..Your ancestors must be so proud . You Go Lydia & Damani..May what god bring together ..no man take apart ❤
Another Banga!! I was smiling throughout. This vlog is rich! Rich in colour, rich in culture, rich in love and happiness. I’m really enjoying learning more about your traditions, thanks Lydia 😍❤️
LYDIA! LYDIA! LYDIA! This gorgeous vlog simply radiates love and made me cry at several parts. As an African American girlie, thank you so much for sharing your love for your family and culture ❤
I see where Damini gets his mannerism of really immersing himself into people's cultures... His parents were lit and really feeling the dance 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Congratulations 🎊
I'll say this again it's so amazing how similar our African culture are this was so beautiful to watch Especially him identifying his bride this is so cool
I'm just in at five seconds and the edit is fire. Thanks for posting. Congrats again. I'm a northern Kenyan mum to a young luo ten Yr old luo babe so this is nice to watch.
I cried from the beginning till the end. The production behind this is insane. The editing, the tradition, the cultural side, the sound track , the angles. Lydia we don’t deserve you. Thank youuuuuu honestly.
This is NOT A VLOG!!! This is a documentary!!! ❤ I loved watching your culture in action was so beautiful to watch as a westerner. The level of planning you’ve done. The White House being built JUST for your traditional wedding! All of the stories behind the process is astounding! Like your brothers home being built on the right of your father’s due to custom. You hiding away and being selected out of all of those women was AMAZING TO WATCH. THE CROWD that came to support your union. 😮. Everything was soo well put together.
Yes, Lydia I agree with him...your worth is priceless! Thank you & Damini SO much for educating us with a glimpse of Kenyan culture. I'm African-American & my husband is Nigerian. We celebrated 21 years of marriage back in May! May the Lord's hands always rest upon your union that He joined. In Jesus's Name.
I got teary eyed watching this. What a beautiful celebration. I never imagined the ceremony being romantic, bringing the family together in harmony, good vibes. This was amazing to see for the culture. The story was told beautifully, execution and everything was phenomenal. I’ve been watching since you were on your internship, this has now become my favourite series.
Watched this with my mom then we went back and watched the wedding video from the first time together. Love seeing your cultures and traditions. Love always Lydia
Thank you for sharing your culture with us! It was lovely learning about Kenyan traditions! And the editing... SIS YOU ARE EATING!! Really enjoying this series

I love watching your traditional wedding videos. I am from South Sudan (Dinka tribe) and our traditional are very much similar. It made me happy and excited to watch as if you were my sister getting married. Thanks for explaining the process well, very educational. Congratulations! ❤️
Well executed video, showing the beautiful Kenyan culture 🇰🇪. I am South African, specifically from the Basotho/ isiXhosa culture and I have noticed similarities the Kenyan dowry and Basotho dowry with is called lobola. Both cultures do the identification of the bride, the bride does confirm she knows the family that has come to negotiate. The only differences is the groom is not part of the negotiations only his representatives and the brides family is given gifts and not money in the form of showing appreciation. Our Nyombo is called “umhlabiso” which is a traditional wedding held in the brides home.
Being first generation Canadian to kikuyu parents I’ve always wondered if I’ll have a traditional ceremony or how that would look like. These videos have been so beautiful I know I most definitely will thank you Lydia!🤍🤍🤍

Such a beautiful part of the culture which needs to be preserved and passed down to the future generations
Mummy’s “check the back” “we know our own” “you can go, thanks for coming” was everything

When the man said, Lydia is worth more than rubies, something in my spirit agreed. Love this cultural experience, Lydia and Damini❤️
I love African culture. I find the part where the groom has to choose the bride so entertaining 😂😂😂😂😂😂 can you imagine if he gets wrong
He gets penalized…
In other cultures they deliberately leave out the bride to make it more entertaining and he will definitely choose wrong then he will be fined for not knowing his bride, if they have more girls and her friends this process can repeat two or three times then eventually the bride will be brought in.
I love our cultures as well and it’s amazing to be those from outside of my own country. We are all soo similar I love it ❤
One time a groom picked the brides grandma,😂😂it was too funny
So lovely how not only Damini but his parents embraced the Nyombo xx
My girl is carrying "nyash", check the back 😅
As in... Shuuuu🔥🔥😅
That's right 😅😅
The way Damini confidently shooed away the imposter Lydias even after the uncle had put the frighteners on him if he got it wrong 🤣❤️💪🏾
