Evolve is an action video game with a focus on both co-operative, and competitive, multiplayer gameplay. The game adapts a '4v1' asymmetrical structure where four players take control of the Hunters, while the fifth player controls the Monster. The Hunters' main objective is to track and hunt the Monster in a limited amount of time, while the Monster's goal is to evolve and make themselves more powerful.
In the beginning of a match, a 30-second headstart is given to the Monster so that they can have enough time to escape before the Hunters parachute from a plane to where the Monster started. Each map features an open world environment for players to explore and play within. To help the Hunters navigate the environments quickly, they are equipped with jetpacks, allowing them to jump over obstacles and cliffs. The jetpack can also be used to dodge attacks performed by the monster, though it consumes a Hunter's energy. The team can track the monster, as well as place waypoints on an interactive map. The color of these waypoints are different based on what players have marked. The waypoint mark turns yellow for environment, orange for wildlife or red for the Monster.
The Monster needs to grow stronger in order to fight the Hunters by hunting and killing other local wildlife in order to gain experience points. When it gains enough experience, the Monster can evolve. Through evolution, the Monster's health bar is extended and refilled, and more abilities are available to the Monster, which makes it easier to kill the Hunters. However, the Monster is vulnerable during its evolution, and if caught by the hunters, the process is disrupted. The Monster can also enter a "stealth mode", allowing it to avoid detection by wildlife and Hunters.
Evolve features five different modes: Hunt, Nest, Rescue, Defend and Arena, which have different objectives for both the Hunters and the Monster. Evolve provides two different structures to these game modes: Quick Play, which starts a single playthrough match; and Evacuation, which serves as a five-match, multiplayer story mode. In Evacuation, each match gives the winning side an advantage in the next map, such as having a toxic gas the Monster is immune to, or autonomous gun turrets to assist the Hunters. The Evacuation mode ends with a 'Defend' match. Evolve also features an Observer Mode, allowing players to watch a match without playing in the match. The spectator can jump between cameras and view the match from both the Hunters' and the Monster's perspectives.
Normally, five players play in a standard round of Evolve, with four Hunters fighting one Monster. Playing with less than five players, including single player, is possible in all modes due to computer-controlled bots. These bots can control up to four of the characters, allowing between one and four human players in any game mode. Players can also switch to play as another class instantly in a single-player match.
Although it was exploited and eventually taken away from the game, I miss the stealth aspect of EVOLVE.
Playing a game of hide and seek with the hunters was fun and added to the intensitivity of gameplay especially for the hunters.
I still hope for a Xenomorph monster in future updates.
responding to a 6 year old comment but yeah, I remember back in the beta, I would play as goliath, because his skin was almost indistinguishable from rock. I went an entire match without the hunters ever seeing me, because when they got close, I would curl up next to a cliff and become invisible. One time, they actually caught up to me, and they chased me all the way up a narrow cliff: I crouched in a bush at the peak right as they broke line of sight, and they completely lost sight of me, I literally just waited out the entire dome until they moved on, it was hilarious.
They even had maggie, but while maggie could tell where I was, they had no idea what she was barking at. I went into stage 3 with 100% health
Bit of advice, when you fling away, in the air turn around and shoot at them with spiders and web snares to slow them down.
Was it just me, or did the audio skip really earlier on, about when he said his screen froze, and then his voice audio was not fully in sync with the game video and audio?

i love the ghostrobo evolve series, been watching series since it came out.
When stage 2 with Gorgon, I usually put one into mimic, one into acid spit to bring it to three, and one into web snare to bring that to two. Try getting all the hunters together in one group and hitting them all with web snare, and then pound 'em hard with acid spit. Throw out a spider trap afterwards, and hit the stray hunter with the mimic. Build tanky and mobile, and you'll be unstoppable. :D
+GhostRobo Mimic can be used when a hunter is down with low health so you can just instantly kill him or when a hunter is being revived and you can just jump in and blow up last second, but overall Mimic has a really small blast radius which makes it nearly useless when it's on Level 1... Feel schooled, son?
Ghost. there are many ways of playing monster. instead of playing big hulking monster taking damage, why not ambush. thats why you got spider traps to set up an area. using mimic to your advantage, and spider traps.

If you owned the first game, you get all the previous characters you own for free. If you didn't, there is now in game currency to purchase stuff with.

I can't ever win as monster :( Do i need perks? I can't seem to down the hunters as easily as he does.
A few tips. First, who is you're favourite monster so far? If you don't have one, start with Goliath. He is the Jack of all trades.
Next, playing Evolve needs you to know the abilities of all 4 hunters you are dealing with to succeed. For example, if you're fighting a Hank, always evolve under cover and focus him first instead of the medic.
Unless you feel confident with your skill, never engage in stage 1.
Next, find a favourite ability and find a least favourite ability. By stage 2, you should have 3 points into your favored ability and 0 or 1 point into your least favourite ability. That's the best I can give for now. If you have a specific favored monster, just tell me and I'll be happy to help.
Okay I've finally got round to watching the video, and I can see why he got them down so quickly.
The support was Cabot who is probably the least defensive support in the game, Also, he used shield burst when there was nothing to block in the first place during the first dome.
Next, medic in this match was Val, the medic with the lowest self sustain in the game. She has absolutely no effective way of protecting/healing herself.
FInally, Gorgon specialises in dealing medium heavy AoE DoT damage. And Val is the absolute worst at dealing with this aside from Laz of course.
In other words, this mostly came down to poor team composition.
