The finished flooring and decor was such a relief for my eyes! The old apartment was painful to look at. You don't need to have a decorator's eye to know when something looks good and when it doesnt. I love how a few changes really transformed the space, it really looks so much more welcoming and neat and like a place you can relax in. Good job on the flooring, came here because a friend's rental has hideous flooring and she's desperate to find a way to cover it up and she is not into carpets either. Don't know why people still want wall to wall carpeting. Its so hot and gross and hard to clean.
This is inspiring! Love what you've done with the apt. I want to cover old carpet in a small townhouse. A question - are the plywood boards anchored to the carpet in any way (double-sided tape?) or to each other and how? I thought I saw tape, but would that be sufficient to for stability?
i would imagine its pretty stable if its cut nicely to the walls. the plywood will probably wobble but since the laminate flooring is clipped in i would think it adds to the structural integrity
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! Got approved for an amazing apartment and prime location only to find out the unit i got is 100% carpet! Ugh!! I can deal but I was freaking out trying to figure out how it would work having 2 indoor dogs and my work schedule. Dogs and carpet dont get along! IM GOING to try this!
Ingenious for rental apartment living! The only thing I’d worry about is the smell of the carpet seeping through eventually. That carpet looked pretty gross before you covered them, dirty and stained, I can only assume that thing stinks. I would recommend pouring a few boxes of baking soda, scattered all around on the carpet to deodorize, before laying that wood subfloor/underlayment over it. Other than that, really really awesome idea!
Hi! Does the flooring feel soft underneath at all? I saw when you were standing on the plywood, it rocked a little bit. Can you feel that when the flooring is put on top? Thanks!!
When you walk on the sub-flooring over the carpet, it moves because it is soft. After you put the laminate down, does the floor still give a little under your feet?

WOW what a difference. It looks so up market and cleaner, brighter, cosy. You've got s great mind and taste.
I'm in a rental in London UK and the landlord won't replace the wooden kitchen floor. I've got planks of wood moving under my feet, it's so dangerous you even slip and fall. I'm looking on you tube trying to teach myself
how to buy more laminate flooring and cut it, measure it, etc. ALONE😰😰😰
Report them to a Housing Department or Dept. Oversees rentals or call a local news station they love doing reports on this kind of stuff
Did you ever give this a shot? Hope it worked out for you.
Love thiss!! Does it squish when you walk?
You are a life saver !!! What are the Wood part your snapping together Called ?
I did this in my apartment 10 years ago, yours looked better:). It’s a good idea. Flipping everybody the bird doesn’t quite match with having scriptural references in your video LOL
Did you have any issues with mold growing underneath and how long did you have the flooring over the carpet?
@@hollymillner2724 2 years. I didn’t, but I would consider the climate where you are, and the water table. I live in a dry climate, and no water got in. I hope this helps.
Omg you are so funny! Loved how it turned out. You have a great eye for design!
Great job! Nothing like non carpeted floors🤗. I would think that the carpet would add an extra underfloor/cushioning, etc,.
Love your art work! Great job on the flooring!
Your work is impressive and I adore how everything fell into place. Excellent job.
Omg ! Looks absolutely gorgeous !! & you have great taste in home decor !!
Did you nail the plywood together first??
Ye sure but what happens when you have to wash it and the water infiltrates between the seams and down into the carpet ?
Will this ruin the carpet underneath? The room I rent has low pile, ugly carpet. I want to do this, but don't want it to damage the carpet, because when I move out, I'm taking the floor with me. :)
