maybe my favorite chorus in any song ever. first time i heard it my jaw was on the floor, it was like everything i’ve ever wanted from “emo” music hitting all at once
Got into them during the Clarity tour cycle, when they were flirting with versions of Sweetness live. Same situation for me and my friends, we sought EVERYTHING from these guys that we could. The harmonics in Roller Queen are eternally wired to memories of high school for me. Time is strange.
Holy shit. I have this on the 7" split with Jejune but have never seen this live. I'd argue this is one of their best songs. I like the 'crunch' of it. Although they'd go on to producing great melodies, this songs stands out for me.
I'm trying to get the guy who filmed it to post some himself, but until then, I only have an old VHS tape with one song from each band that played the fest that weekend. I will be posting a few more of THOSE however... and you're welcome :-)
I was there. Bought Static Prevails from them at their "merch table" saw them at The Magic Stick not too long after with Compound Red who was also at the fest.
@ebeatworld Yeah, he's usually a Les Paul guy, but he's always been a Tele guy as well. He even has his own custom Tele, (which Fender is now mass-producing and selling).
a time where singers were valued for their skills as vocalists, as opposed to now, where singers are valued for how they digitally alter their vocal tracks
why does jim strum so close to the bride on his guitar? it seems like it's mess with his tone and make it easy to hit the bridge instead of the strings.

I have a VHS of this somewhere. The 90's knew what was up.

The Detroit Area WAS, IS, and WILL ALWAYS definitely be one of the few "hotbeds" of underground music, art, and innovation.
That is TOTALLY Zach on the drums... a decade or so can really make a difference... heck, I sure don't look the same! :-)
You knew they'd be amazing from the beginning.
Damn I love this sooooo much! 🤘🏻🖤
I wore out this 7 inch. This is probably my favorite JEW song of all time.
Oh man. I have a boot of this from a different angle. Still love this jam.
Awesome performance! I wish I could have seen them back then, but they still put on a rad show.
Totally remember this show. Such a fun video memory!

Jim said that they were heckled a bit at this show because they were on Capitol.
A little. More so when the power went out mid-set and they decided they were done but cooler heads prevailed and they kept playing.
Amazing! Thanks for posting.
este es el vídeo mas antiguo ( y padre ) que e visto un 10+ por aportar un vídeo que me gusto mucho
