Why You SHOULD Visit DOVER In Kent!

- I’m sure we’ve all heard of Dover because of the port right? It’s probably the busiest international port in the UK, with international cruise lines and direct ferries to France.
However Dover is also renowned for the iconic White Cliffs which tower over the English Channel, visible for miles around. The coastal path is one of the most famous in the UK and as well as having spectacular views, the cliffs are historically significant, having been used for defence in both World Wars. It is a tourist destination like no other and a perfect day trip from London (just over an hour by train)
In this 4K walking tour vlog I am taking you from the top right down to the bottom! On the way we’ll see views of the French coast in the distance, the South Foreland lighthouse, the Fan Bay Deep Shelter, the medieval fortress that is Dover Castle, the port, the Visitor Centre, the seafront and harbour area. If you haven’t been already, this video shows you exactly why Dover is a great place to visit in Kent.
My name is Jack and I’m exploring the UK, making travel vlogs as I go. I’d be so grateful for your support, so please do like the video, leave a comment and subscribe to my channel here - / @jackryanmiller

Ah that was lovely, so much pretty scenery
That’s right, one of the best walks for views I reckon
Love your videos! We will be visiting soon, next year we hope.
Ah thanks so much Deb! Glad you’re enjoying 😁
That's so cool how you can see France!! And those cliffs are very pretty.
I know! My camera zoom isn’t good enough to see on this video but seeing it in person on a clear day is a great experience
Take us for a tour of the actual Town I am sure your viewers will enjoy that!
That’s in my plans actually so great recommendation 😄the town centre and western heights
the beach below, Fan bay also known as dead mans beach is fully acceseble via the zig zag path down the cliffe face, then a steep stepladder onto the pebbles. on low tide (not advised) you can walk to st margarets bay. i done it as a youth as grew up in the area
Thanks Dean, that sounds great but I don’t think I’d be brave enough to try that now! 😅
Great job Jack. I will be there in a fort night (as you Brit’s say). Thank you for paving the way. If I can find a boat ride in the harbor, that will be enough for me :)😊. I am going to combine my trip with a stop off at Canterbury.
Hey thanks so much Sam and I hope you have a great trip! If it’s of interest I did another video from Canterbury a few months ago if you want to check it out 😄
Hi Jack ... I have just watched this as I am going there tomorrow. (April 24) I am retired and have just finished several years working as a volunteer and need something easy but active to do. I have a bus pass and a senior rail card and am doing 4 hotel nights at a time around the coast by public transport. I started in Greenwich, went to Sheerness then Sittingbourne, Whitstable, Herne Bay, then home via Canterbury. Next, I did Isle of Thanet to Deal 3 weeks ago. Tomorrow, it's Dover and Folkestone and then maybe early May it's Dungerness. Train or bus only and some walking stretches, and if i can manage it, maybe some by boat. So thank you for your preview! I have missed a couple of things I would have liked to have seen to date, so I am doing more research before I go now!
That is fantastic Philippa I am envious of your travels around Kent and you’ve visited some of my favourite places! I’ve done a few videos from some of them! I hope you have a great time in Dover and Folkestone, and hope the weather stays like this for you
Dover is wonderful. Went there back in 2011 for a daytrip. Would like to go back there and stay for a few days.
Oh yes totally agree. I love that it’s not a typical British seaside town
Not to be rude but honestly don’t bother
yes you can walk dome the beach its called langdon bay its got a ship reck down you can see it on low tide
That’s amazing I’ll have to go back and check it out, cheers 👍
@@jackryanmiller you're welcome
On the western heights there is a napoleonic fort. I lived in deal and Dover for 15 years as I worked on the ferries. Dover was a nice town when I lived there but not so much now. It’s got some interesting history. Mobile phone connecting to French network is a common issue.
Oh yes Western heights is somewhere I’ve really wanted to visit but never have! Will be sure to check it out
I kind of want to see the incredibly zoomed in photo of the couple, just look like a blur of pixels. What if they fell off the cliff after and that was the last photo they were ever in
Ha ha hilarious, I felt very bad at the time but hey I was in a rush 🤪
Hello Jack, nice video! There are a lot of swimmers that go down early morning and early evening. On you next wall to Dover, I'd recommend coming on the third Sunday of the month and heading up to The Western Heights, not only because its a fabulous fortification to look around, but on the third Sunday of the month, the Grand Shaft (a triple staircase that goes directly through the cliffs, top to bottom) is open to the public - free of charge and very interesting! You also get incredible views looking back to the cliffs, castle and down onto the marina. 😊❤
Hello Georgie and thanks so much for the suggestion! I had heard about Western Heights but I never knew about the Grand shaft - that sounds fantastic and I’ll be sure to check it out soon!
Hahaha 'that's how old I felt walking over them'
Also those houses and the backdrop is beautiful
Hmmm i wanna come here bc Baby Queen has a song called Dover Beach lol
So she does! And the music video is actually in Dover !
What an amazing place!
It really is. Thanks for watching 😁
Nope never would never Will id only see people shouting at the incoming tides too go back to wherever they tides domes from😊
Ha that’s usually me 🤪
I don’t understand why people hype up Dover. It’s an awful trampy town with nothing to do especially if your young and you live there
Ah I see your point but I live in London so whenever I visit Dover it’s such a massive change from that scene!
Nothing special
It tells you what it is like with 2 public toilets from everyone in the whole town .
