Oh boy, this brings back some memories. We at US Intervention and Project Reality had so much fun modding this great game, providing more fun for everything and everyone. Unfortunately, today this isn't possible anymore. Thank you for reviewing this awesome milestone of gaming history :)
BF2 is the best BF unfortunately the series got dumbed down to appeal to the COD players and it worked sadly. The only thing better about the new BF games is the graphics and destruction other than that the series is just as shallow as COD. I wish BF would go back to it's roots but we all know EA wouldn't let that happen it would be to hard for the kiddies.
Indigo 99 The reason COD is dumbed down is because the maps are 3 lanes and are essentially straight-up polygons. They’re small and limiting. Battlefield maps are not even close to that. Amiens in BF1 is a very good map with power-positions, effective cover and learnable routes that give you an advantage over players who haven’t bothered to learn the map. In COD you can learn the map but it won’t give you an advantage because the maps are designed with random in mind, so that a Noob is on equal footing with a veteran, because a good player has nothing to gain and everything to lose from random. In BF1 random is indeed more present than in past titles but not nearly as much as in COD. There is still class depth, vehicle depth and weapon depth that COD simply has less Of or none at all. There are still skillcurves that upset COD players, they need to learn how to fly the plane, how to effectively use vehicles, when to revive players. And I’m pretty sure BF1 was a speed bump in the BF series, an anomaly, I wouldn’t consider it to be the status quo. BFV looks like it’s going to fix all of my problems with BF1, as for BF4 and BF3? They actually have more depth than BF2 because they have far more weapons, far more attachments that have to be learned how best to be used, they have vehicle customization. Class customization adds a whole new layer of depth that BF2 never had. I’m sorry but BF3 and BF4 are still better than BF2, take of your nostalgia goggles.
Timothy Scott I would still being playing BF2 today if Revive wasn't shutdown I played it last year and had a blast. The graphics may be dated but I can look past that since the gameplay is a million times better then any other BF especially BF3 and BF4 it's NOT nostalgia. The series went casual when the Bad Company gamesstarted it has been getting more dumbed down through each title. What made this series dumbed down are straits that started from COD like. Regenerating Health: I hate this shit why have medics if you can just hide behind a rock and wait for your health to regen the BF games do not need this hand holding garbage. Grenade indicators: another COD trait I don't need to see a flashing grenade indicators I can see the grenades just fine by itself this also kills the immersion of the game. Unlimited sprint: The pacing of the BF games these days feel like COD getting rid of the sprint bars from BF2 ruins the flow and makes it arcadey everybody is running around like headless chickens it's a twitch shooter just like COD no strategy just run and gun. Killcams need I say more. Here's a list of stuff that's not in COD but made for casuals anyways Spawn on any teammate you should only be able to spawn on your squad leader. You don't even have to take off on a runway anymore you just spawn in the air with a jet more dumbing down. In closing the BF series has lost it's depth just because it still has big maps and vehicles doesn't make it anymore strategic then COD. Especially since what made BF respectable is gone now and it's just plays like COD with vehicles.
Indigo 99 It has not lost it’s depth, it has a fuck ton of death. First off, BFV is removing regenerating health, and the regen health was much slower than COD’s regen health, therefore you still require a medic. Grenade danger indicators are a minuscule problem, if they bother you, than that is a subjective thing because I’ve never heard that complaint, and I’ve never met someone who claims it kills immersion. BF3 and BF4’s gunplay is 15x more fun than BF2’s clunky ass gunplay. Not to mention BF2’s game breaking hit detection, maybe you can stomach that shit, but I can’t stand it. Most of the shit you described is pretty minor, and saying that the modern BF game’s are as shallow as COD is an incredibly inflammatory statement and just not true. Pretty much everything that COD has BF has a version of it with more depth. Health: Slower than COD’s regen health and medics are present as well as revives Vehicles: Non-existent in modern COD Gunplay: Tap-firing, bullet drop, tactical reloading, Custom Classes: 10x more Weapons, 10x more attachments, 10x the variety Maps: 10x the detail, 10x the size, 10x the player count, far more freedom Oh and the squad system is perfectly fine the way it is. If you like the BF2 squad system than you must be a masochist. I’d get where you are coming from if you could just spawn on anyone, but you can only spawn on 4-5 people out of 64 people. The BF2 squad system works well in BF2 today because everyone playing it is a veteran, but in a modern BF? The squad leader would Rambo around and die fucking his squad in the ass. At least we’ve got more options now.
See, you're not wrong. And yet most of the reasons you state just reinforce the reasons I reckon BF 1942 is still by far the best Battlefield. Now I will definitely grant BF2 squads- that was a fantastic addition- but overall the tradeoff in graphics at the cost of smaller and smaller battlefields began with BF2, and as a result seems like a skirmish simulator compared to the GIANT battlefields in 1942. Not to mention while choppers are fun, they don't make up for the loss of all the ships, subs and various aircraft lost from the original. Finally, this was where guided weapons first raised their ugly head, bringing down the series to such a turgid level that the fanbase went *nuts* with joy when BF1 was announced set in an era before any of that crap was available. Same with unlocks, but that trend ain't about to die any time soon....
Battlefield 2 will always be the best. Its not as apparent with 3 and 4 but when you look at 1 and 5, its clear that battlefield lost its soul. I only hope they will go back with the new game. But after this new one if its terrible, I can't justify giving them another chance.
ya, IF you can get it up and running...i have the battlefield 2 deluxe edition and have tried to get it working on a win7 pc, win8 pc and as of recent a win10 pc and can't get it to work with any of them. as far as i can tell there is no official patch or anything......there are "patches" and no-cd fixes out there but they are not the OFFICIAL ones so i don't really trust them as i have enough of a hard time keeping viruses and malware off my pc. it would be nice if EA or DICE gave enough of a shit to care abut people being able to install and play their games on modern computers.
@@BlitzvogelMobius of course they did!!! Damnit, love the video man you hit the nail on the head, this game was life and they just lost it after this one

I remember being a 4 year old kid, just sitting on a chair next to my dad and brother playing this game on a potato old pc.
Couldn't agree any more.
I wish EA and Dice would do a remastering of BF2, and not that crappy BF: Play for free.
There's plenty of mods for Battlefield 2,you know?
This video deserves far more views and likes. I experienced just the same thing as you. :)
Well let me shamelessly plug the rest of my channel then :D
I have been saying that for years ..agree 100%.. the best BF ever )
Well I can say that the game is still alive in 2022 and it is still fun as hell to ram through enemy defences on Karkand :)
The dolphin diving and dusting!!!! Seat switching 😍

Indigo 99 Battlefield is NOT just as dumbed sown as COD, not even close. You’ve lost all credibility.
Timothy Scott please explain?

anyone remembers 'Duck & Cover' by Redux?
Battlefield 2 is much more immersive, much wider angled, you see better your opponents, the platform is much more intuitive and easier to use.

I triggered because of the thumbnail.
Battlefield 2 is my favourite, but yeah,I feel triggered about that thumbnail.
"Blitzvogel" German?
German name, though I'm not German in nationality.

No equal to this game

Theres bf2hub that works
Yeah, that's what I use. It's only too bad that server selection for NA players is limited because of ping.
I have a new PC since I used to play, where can I download the game itself??? You guys are awesome
The gun mechanics were not that good.
