Keep in mind this fight was October ‘95. In February 1996 Morrison tested positive for AIDs by the boxing commission. Rumor is he hid it for a long time. He was clearly already sick in this fight. This was a dying Morrison, not a prime healthy Morrison. This fight was all heart and all he had left.

I agree. That beating he took from Ray toward the end of the fight was terrible. The ref shouldn’t have allowed it to go as far as it did. And you’re right that Tommy wasn’t the same fighter after that.
Mercer would have ended Mike Tyson. Morrison was ended by drugs and AIDs. He’s clearly sick already by this fight.

Lennox under the tutelage of Emmanuel Stewart was an absolute beast. The only way one could beat him, was like McCall and Rachman did: set him up, time him, and level him to the chin. But his (Lewis’) defense was really good. As for Morrison, he just couldn’t hang with the big boys of the heavyweight division. He was a B fighter at best, but very entertaining.
Lewis lost those 2 fights because he underestimated them and flirted with Hollywood but he picked himself up and put both the results right.
I would like to see Lewis to fight all these good boxers like Tyson and Morisson in their prime..
I may be mistaken, but pretty sure Lennox has the longest Reach in Recorded history for a Heavy weight. Only chance Morrison had was to move inside and hope to land a knock out. But Lennox was incredibly agile with excellent footwork

@@DaDominicanDawg you’re stuck in the Tyson fantasy. He was never as good as marketed his record. James Tillis went 10 rounds with Mike Tyson. Tommy knocked out Tillis in two minutes. I know of at least three boxers who fought both Tyson and Morrison. All three said Morrison hit much harder. Tyson was not a good boxer. He looked good against the scrubs he fought. When he fought true boxers he got schooled. I do agree Morrison was not a great boxer as far as movement but he was good enough to beat Mike Tyson.

Unfortunately Tommy never reached anywhere near his potential because he partied hard, drank too much and even by this fight was a drug user. He could have been way better than this effort.
Morrison is clearly sick already in this fight. It’s unfortunate he contracted AIDS and got mixed up in drugs. A prime healthy Morrison would have hurt Mike Tyson and maybe KOed Lewis.

Morrison has good drugs, but they always tend to wear off after the fifth round. And here is the proof that Lennox Lewis could have easily beaten Rocky Balboa and saved the film producers tons of money by closing the film more quickly, and making re-matches and come-backs unnecessary.
