I just had had turbinate reduction and my deviated septum straightened 3 days ago. Also got my tonsils and adenoids removed. I am breathing much better! Totally worth it. The tonsils are the worst part.
John Rambo hello, i want to ask how are you doing right now and how's ur turbinate condition now? is after the reduction procedure there are possibilities for the turbinate to enlarge again or it is a lifetime result surgery?
@@anbiyaakbar2292 as I know there is absolutrly a risk for turbinate to enlarge again . No life time waranty surgery. Its important tp know the csuse of enlargement of your turbinate such as doing test of allergies, etc
Had this procedure done two months ago and it has been wonderful being able to breathe again. I'm a stomach sleeper (sorry, I can't help it) and my mouth is usually clamped shut all night. Clogged sinuses led to mild apnea. Now, I'm sleeping better at night and breathing through my nose in a way most take for granted.
Turbinate surgery is VERY risky. Turbinates are very important to your breathing---you need them. They are not useless pieces of meat in your body. Look it up on google. Any responsible doctor is going to try EVERY other method to help you before resorting to cutting you open. If the turbinates are enlarged, something could be causing that--allergies, vasomotor rhinitis. If the turbinates are damaged, a person can end up with empty nose syndrome, which is a horrible condition. Think very hard before you rush into surgery---there are a lot of people out there who wish they had reconsidered.
Hi are you a doctor? I have congestion on only one side of my nostril. But the congestion swap place, for example at one time 100% congested on right nostril and breathe 70% on left, and vice versa. Is this caused by nasal turbinate? I am having this problem since childhood.
I'm not a doctor. To me, that sounds like turbinates. But if you look that up on the internet, that happens to a lot of people, especially in their sleep. I think you should get tested for allergies or you might even have vasomotor rhinitis. Do you get congested when you eat spicy foods?
To do any procedure on the turbinates is taking a risk. The problem is that many of these procedures would be avoided if the doctor would try other avenues. No matter the procedure, it will not be as safe as changing diet, using medications, and changing environmental factors.
Mellow Mike you are everywhere on RUclips and dedicated on warning people for months. I did the surgery and did no research before hand but I turned out fine one week post op nose is swollen but I'm improving. If I saw your comments prob wouldn't have done it tbh
@@alanpaschoal7299 8 month ago I did it after 3 months I felt blockage again than doctor suggested rinocleanal spray I use it when feel blockage I am still ok.
Okay, I am going to copy and paste this - I would say a positive comment - to a couple of related videos the same as others are copy-pasting the comments about ENS as I feel like only negative stories are being spread. Before my radio-frequency inferior turbinate reduction, I was freaking out about it because I would read all the negative comments about the ENS and how these people are suicidal. Well, I was aware of this risk, but still, I went through this, because the blockage of my nose, especially the left nostril, was so bad, that I had headaches, dry eyes, could not have a good night's sleep..., basically I had constantly less energy and did not use my full physical and psychical potential. Yes, it can affect your life tremendously when you are not able to breathe freely for a long time. Anyways, before the surgery, I visited more doctors to have more information about the risks and potential ENS and they said that they could not disprove this, but they also said that in my case the risk was minimal as I would have only local anesthesia and the least invading technique. So here I am writing this comment, I am exactly one day after the inferior turbinate reduction done with the radiofrequency method, in the end, only the left nostril as my right side was okay. The procedure was not comfortable but for me less painful than visiting a dentist. I felt pressure, vibration, resonance, and heat, but it was manageable. After I got home, I removed the nose tampon from the left nostril and I knew right away that I was breathing through, but I did not feel the air going through the left nostril because it was still anesthetized from the tampon. There was a bit of blood, mucous, but after about the next two hours, I realized how much-left nose was blocked. I was finally breathing and I felt it, the air and you cannot imagine such relief. The nostril is still pretty sensitive though, so you must listen to what the doctor says, like no much blowing your nose for first days, no extreme temperature changes (no hot shower...), no high physical activity the first week, etc. This is my experience. It ended up well and I want to encourage you, that if you suffer a lot, it is probably worth taking the risk. My advice: before your surgery, make sure the doctor is experienced with this and talk to him about the complications he had experience with other patients. Talk to him that you would like to have the least invading method performed to minimize the risks. And those who are interested, the RF machine used for my surgery was The CURIS® 4 MHz radiofrequency generator, you can google it if you want. Wish you good health and a lot of strength to the individuals whose surgery did not end up as expected.

I had a septoplasty and turbinate reduction done 2 months ago. My breathing never felt any better, and I'm still stuffy most of the time. Went back to my doctor, turns out my septum redeviated a bit, although not as bad as before the surgery, and my turbinates are hypertrophied again. Not sure why this happened, and it is frustrating going through the surgery to not have any relief. The doctor wants to try another turbinate reduction/coblation since they are swollen up again. I don't know what else to do at this point. He had me on flonaze but that didn't do anything for me, so now I'm on rhinocort, but just started it, so I don't know if it will work either.
bloodyangel1 As someone who suffers from Empty Nose Syndrome, it wracks my nerves to know you might have a turbinate surgery. I understand the frustration of congestion---trust me, I fought it for years as well as sleep apnea---but if you have the surgery and end up with Empty Nose Syndrome, you will hate yourself for having the surgery. I feel like I am in some sick nightmare, I see my father watching me suffer every day, feeling helpless to help me. I have never been through anything this cruel in my life. The turbinates have too many nerves and serve a lot of functions to your breathing---messing with them can cause horrendous problems. Google Empty Nose Syndrome and read up on it and ask yourself if it's worth the risk. I would gladly be homeless rather than have this condition.
Wow, that sounds horrible. I've read up about ENS, and it does sound scary. And since then, I've decided to cancel the second turbinate reduction/coblation, and am trying allergy shots instead, to see if they will help reduce my turbinate hypertrophy. Hopefully your ENS will go away eventually, and you won't have to suffer anymore.
Try anything else but surgery. AFTER my surgery, another doctor asked me a bunch of questions and it turned out I had vasomotor rhinitis---this just means that my turbinates were oversensitive. So they would swell up more than the average person if I inhaled dust or dog hair or smoke or ate spicy food. If I had just avoided certain foods and irritants, I could have been okay. Now, I'm in hell. I have been through bad stuff but I never thought about killing myself and now I think about it every single day. Right now, there is no cure for ENS.
