@markatl84 did you look at the other 1 minute and 51 seconds of the video? Because for all the other approx. 50 or so m&m's/skittles they were sorted correctly. It's a homemade project, that's unpatented. Congratulate the guy and give credit where it's due, bitch.
That bowl is where the "undesirables" go to. Or probably the color sensor not sensing it thus it gets diverted to that bowl. There are 6 total bowls but only 5 flavors (colors) in the original skittles.
This is going to go viral! OP, REFUSE ALL REQUESTS FROM ANY COMPANY TO LICENSE THIS VIDEO! It WILL seem appealing, but they are there to take money from you. Please just monetize this video yourself, do not let anyone place ads on it for you.
This thing is way past prototype! Fantastic job, really went the extra mile on your design. A duly deserved round of applause! (As a plus, this could serve as a SERIOUS time savor for those with OCD/other order-based maladies! At least for candy, anyway. ;) )
Now if only someone would invent a machine that could magically transform crappy apple Skittles back into the delicious lime Skittles that they replaced.
There is a small wheel with four indents connected to the shaft of the stepper motor. A microswitch triggers when it passes through the indent, closing the feedback loop.
Mooi ding. Nu aub een die de verschillende kleuren paaseitjes van Jamin op kleur sorteert. Hoef ik de smerige niet eerst te proeven maar kan ik ze direct weggooien.

I'm not only impressed by your technical skills but the device shows some truly beautiful industrial design as well. Good job!
Exactly, that is what impressed me more. The final product! It looks elegant and minimalist - such a fine design.
1:04 you can see a dark (purple?) one in the green bowl. Still very cool!

PRETTY sure he was being sarcastic!
HEY, THIS GUY'S A PHONY

+Notes of a Melody tfw comment gets to the top and everyone can see you embarrass yourself
I love the pleasant plink as they fall in the ramekins. much like a chime. love it! aesthetically pleasing on all levels! ^_^
And it seems to be sort of aligned well with the music too!

Fuck Storyful, ViralHog, Newsflare, etc! Ignore em and they'll go out of business.
Hugo Cornellier or lisence the patent lol
But they're just gonna steal the video anyway. With the caption "Who did this?" or some other shitty title.
it was the music that made this video for me
Darude - Dooblydoo
Yes but no... not the background music but those tinkling little bowls....
What a time to be alive!
Now, I want "Alexa, sort my candeessss!"
Not only is the design great, this actually could be used in serious industrial settings. Congratulations.
WOW this is cool! You've made the world a better place, good sir.
Awesome. It's a similar principle to a fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) machine, but for Skittles rather (and more importantly) than cells.
This is hilarious and simply amazing.
I love how I always find this stuff out reddit first. I loved your DIY post OP
The future of skittle sorting tech
This would be great if modified for Lego!
R.I.P Dan
He died screaming
Oddly mesmerizing.. I think I could watch this all day.
Love from,
The Nerdcubed fanbase.
At last, OCD sufferers worldwide will be able to enjoy nicely sorted skittles.
Wow I'm truly impressed. Now I can separate my candy while I'm doing something else
the sound they make when they fall in the cups is great too.
Actually all the sound going on here are fantastic.
I could watch that all day
this could be one of the best videos on the internet
The singularity is near!!!
This is great when kids want what colour m&ms or skittles they like

The greatest invention of all time DEATH TO THE GREEN SMARTY
Now if only someone would invent a machine that could magically transform crappy apple Skittles back into the delicious lime Skittles that they replaced.
I was sent here by a man who went out with a fucking impressive scream.
I need to buy one of those
I was sent here by a man that went out with an awesome scream.
I see you are using 2 Arduinos, to control 2 steppers. Is this because controlling both steppers with a single Arduino is difficult to program?
This is brilliant! Thanks for posting!
Awesome!I feel this may go viral!
DMAN D might make some headlines. don't know about viral...
Excellent work, looks great
The M&M And Skittles Sorting Machine For All Your OCD Needs
I am extremely impressed! however did anyone else notice it put a purple in the green dish at about 1:10?
Very good work & super designed!
this. is. AWESOME!!!!
That was so satisfying to watch!
i got sent here by a guy who went out screaming
wow. that is amazing.
I wonder if this will work with the tropical flavor package of Skittles?
We need more of this
This is the solution to all of my problems.
Be prepared to go on trending
great work dude
i was sent here by a man with an impressive scream
How cool is that!
Top content. Thank you sir
Nicely job. But how much percent is sorted wrong?
At first I thought the title was m&ms and skittle snorting machine lol
Amazing Work !
I thought it sorted skittles from m&ms. LOL
me too lol
Is there an encoder attached to the stepper? I am impressed by the precision....
There is a small wheel with four indents connected to the shaft of the stepper motor. A microswitch triggers when it passes through the indent, closing the feedback loop.
Can it sort peanut m&ms as well, or only chocolate?
I was sent here by a man who died in screaming in agony
U mean wick cubed?
Idk how that happened or the relation of the video, but me too😂
But will is sort m&m's from skittles, that may be a little more important than color
This is so awesome 👏 need one of these
Why did I read this as "snorting machine "
Mooi ding. Nu aub een die de verschillende kleuren paaseitjes van Jamin op kleur sorteert. Hoef ik de smerige niet eerst te proeven maar kan ik ze direct weggooien.
Satisfying!
This would make an amazing random number generator.
Very cool I'm looking g to build something similar for one of my classes. Do yoynshare the code so I can see how you programmed it?
Genius!
I love it. What skill level would you say this project was? (beginner, intermediate, etc). Thanks!
This is so cool
You can clearly see it messing up in the background at 1:09, it puts a green and purple in the same bowl.
I was sent here by a man with an impressive scream.
But,but, WHY?
Great job
You based it on ivcvideo m&m sorter right?
Needs bigger top bowl and should time drops to create musical melodies.
you are my hero!
I was sent hear by a man who died with an impressive scream.
Same here. Impressive scream, it was.
what is this strange magic??
Beautiful design, but why two Arduinos for such a simple task? It just doesn't feel right.
RicoElectrico One arduino is used to animate the LEDs (WS2812b) which require a very precise timing.
reminds me of all the time I've lost watching how it's made
thanks for this
that's so cool
are the stl files and arduino sketch available for this?
Now we just need a larger one for the people of our society. Ayooooooooooooo!!!
...I'll just leave now
genius!
That's amazing! Can I buy it, or a copy? Name your price!
Hello Willem , is the machine for sale ? how long would it take to separate 10kg and would it work for 100kg
what country are you in ?
>
This machine is not for sale. It sorts a 400g bag in 2-3 minutes.
@1:09 you can see it put a purple with the green..
Cool, blueprints? or maybe a tutorial? :)
So where can we buy one 😂

Why does this system have 2 Arduinos?
1:04
unbuyable.
At 1:09 you can see it made an error :p I wonder what caused that though cause it seems to work really well and really fast
amazing
YEAH SCIENCE!
in what application would this be practical
ExoTic Legend In what application is Netflix practical? I hope you see why you're silly McGoose.
ExoTic Legend For example, if you want to decorate a cake only with some of the colors or make a pattern with them
But can it distinguish a Green M&M from a Green Skittle?
Has it sorted incorrectly yet?
SO LIKE IM ON MY WAY TO THE STORE TO BUY A SHIT TON OF SKITTLES FOR THIS EXACT PURPOSE
WHERE DO I BUY ONE???
I was here before this went viral - 975 views
nerdcubed?
wow!!
this would be food for OCD people like me
