    • @ThorMaximus
      @ThorMaximus 4 года назад +25

      JackgarPrime Bret Hart had genuine passion. The problem with Hart - he didn’t work against top names outside of Piper to help him be perceived as a “top” guy. I saw it at the time & I didn’t get it (no clue what was politics in business as a kid). Hart’s first run had him defending vs. Shawn & Razor - who were 2 years of building away. SS should have been Hart vs. Ted DiBiase (with a proper build & Jimmy Hart/IRS). DiBiase was few years removed from Main Event vs. Hogan/Savage but was still a credible Main Event (he WAS originally planned to be WWF Champ). Royal Rumble should have been a Ric Flair rematch or vs. Savage. UnderTaker should have won Royal Rumble for WrestleMania vs. Hart; teasing “dark” UT & let fans decide; with UT going over. Michaels should have been booked vs. Bob Backlund & Backlund booked properly as a Mick Foley like threat to win, given he was 5 year run of WWF Champion-giving Michaels “the wrestling level of his life” with Michaels barely escaping with win. Would have really pushed his past success & not as a mid-carder.

      Yeah I mean it depends what you're looking for. Bret's promo I actually thought was okay here, but it's really not the way he told his stories. He was a straight shooter and he felt real...when it came to the stick he wasn't dripping with charisma. In the ring on the other hand, he could be electric. And while you can never confuse him for a mega-star the level of Austin or Hogan, he was a legit top guy/main event talent.
      I'm looking forward to KOTR '93 because he has a really awesome night, especially the rematch with Perfect. Such great storytelling and psychology, coupled with really hard hitting action. I think V1, OOC, and Jay will be pleased--though they've surprised me before :-p

    About that last "move" Shawn tried on Bret that got transitioned into the Sharpshooter - it would've looked a lot more believable if Shawn was attempting a flying double ax handle smash, only to have Bret catch him, hold him for a quick beat, then drop him on his back for the Sharpshooter. That would've seemed like a more credible move instead of that "flying barse tackle" he attempted. Perhaps Shawn was too heavy to allow Bret to catch him in midair for the double ax handle transition, so Shawn just jumped at him legs-first so Bret wouldn't have to catch him?

    44:00 storyline for that episode was basically that Macho Man asked Perfect to be his partner, Vince suggested it would be a great payday to be at the show, and then the Brain said that Perfect doesn't really have the ability to wrestle again and isn't as good as Flair, which Perfect was insulted by and did join; in the alternate storyline, perhaps Warrior would have turned on Macho Man after the match if they had lost, and then made a challenge for Bret Hart... I can;t really see UW as a heel, but the Hitman could have worked with it at least once for a PPV title match.

    Razor Ramon is a great midcard gimmick, but the big problem is that he was pushed as a top heel right off the bat. Even as a kid, I never bought him as a threat to Savage or Hart; hell, just a year prior he was the Diamond Studd (from the Diamond Mine!), and now I'm supposed to view him a main eventer? It's no surprise that after maineventing Royal Rumble 1993, Razor Ramon quickly got shunted down the card, where he finally got the money angle with the 1-2-3 Kid.

    The Mountie is undefeated against Bret Hart. (Not counting 80's tag matches). Bret never got the win back after losing the IC title. Curtis Axel is 2 and 0 over Cena and he is also technically 2 and 0 over HHH (in one single match lol ). That's Hall of Fame level right there. Curtis Axel GET IN MY BOY STABLE ! The Genius is undefeated against Hogan. Not bad.
    Matches Bret Hart never had: Texas Tornado, Jimmy Snuka, Sgt Slaughter, Tugboat/Typhoon, Jake The Snake,
    Ravishing Rick, Marty Jannetty (tags with Rockers) ,
    Max Moon (though the did face Konnan once in WCW)...
    WCW missed out the most: Bret could have really worked several matches apiece against Lord Regal or the young Jericho.
    The first match against Sting should have been face vs face "dream match" instead of just two NWO guys feuding for the bullshit baseball bat finish.
    Bret was in the ring with nearly everyone but there were a few, particularly Rude, Regal and Jericho that would have been neat to see.

    Nailz story actually makes sense, because Big Boss Man started in WWF as a heel with the specific gimmick of a violent and abusive prison guard who may or may not have been fired from his job for abusing his power over the inmates. WWF could've done a really interesting storyline here with Boss Man admitting to his past wrong doings but has since found the light. But no, back in PG Hulkamania era, once somebody turned babyface, history was rewritten so that he was always a babyface and there had never been a thing wrong with him. Kinda like what happens in Orwell's 1984 when the governing party changes allies...

Also, am I the only one who thinks that his chin lock looks absolutely terrible? That said, it's amazing how much the 'thing on a pole' match is over. Like it hasn't been diluted yet. They then had to tell him it was a blatant rip off of Tony Montana in Scarface of which he had never even heard of. They had to actually sit him down and show him Scarface and explain it to him 🙈🙈
