I remember randomly getting that LJN undertaker figure but, I had no other wrestling toys so Taker just beat up my Star Trek tng figures... Take that Riker!
Anyone else notice that Jimmy Del Ray seems to have put on a little weight since he made his first WWF appearance at the last Survivor Series? And he's still doing the sexy gyrating? Yeah, it has to be a rib.
Holy shit, the music during the WWF's hype package for the PPV is the same music that ESPN uses for NFL highlights! I don't know what to think anymore.
At the intro was expecting/hoping for "Which leaves this as V1, Sergeant Slaughter, cause he...is probably racist." Always love to see a new video from you guys!
I remember at King of the Ring 93 when Howard Finkel announced that the referee had "reversed the decision" Hebner went absolutely ballistic on him, and Finkel had to correct himself. Also, a mention of Kanyon, but no mention that Jason Arhnt was Joey Abs in the Mean Street Posse?
OH you let me down, you did not mention that they said "The Rocket's Red Glare" in reference to Bulldog's entrance. They said this EVERYTIME he came out. Can you think of any less appropriate wrestler to make that comparison about. I mean it's a lyric in the national anthem of the US describing a brave stand AGAINST BRITAIN. Booo, that was a good one to point out!
Oh man, I remember seeing that IRS promo when it aired. My uncle had recently passed away and I was upset that IRS might come and disturb his grave. lol.
I’m loving this heel laugh/grunt that Jay is now punctuating sentences with (in the Mountain Dew, KFC etc pre-show). It’s getting over with me. Keep doing it, brah.
This is when I started watching. I was 6. If it wasn't for my dad, older cousins & uncles I wouldn't be a wrestling fan. 😂 Gimme that NWA show alll day, every day plus old rentals of WWF from late 80's-90's helped my fandom. New Generation was not good. I was a kid. It wasn't good. I rather watch the old stuff. Until the Attitude Era started between WWF & WCW. 😆 My first ever wrestling event was a WCW house show w/8 of us. The main event was Sting vs Ric Flair. Holy Shit!! (LoD) Road Warriors vs. Nasty Boyz & I remember Rey Rey being there too.. I didn't see Hulk Hogan (in person) until 1998 when he was NWO. 1st ever WWF show was a house show w/ Vader vs Kane then, Stone Cold vs The Rock. *chef kiss*. What a way to start off a fandom.😅
Just when I thought you guys couldn’t get more awesome, you make a Trailer Park Boys reference. I’m from Nova Scotia and it always amazes me how this ‘Little Show That Could’ has gained global popularity.
I think the arc should end with Lex dropping the belt to Hogan at Road Wild. That would be the perfect way to end the arc. Lex is on top, he is the World Champi... just kidding Dave Dragon wants his belt back.
The Million Dollar Man facewashing Matt with the money is genius character work. In one move he says that the jobber is a jobber and here is your blood money; That he backs his paid stooge IRS to win comfortably, giving the rub to IRS whilst also showing off his talent scouting; That he, the Million Dollar Man, can buy you all. He gets wrestling in a way few modern wrestlers do.
In all fairness to Yokozuna, being even an average sized person locked in a casket would be terrifying and suffocating. Imagine how hard it'd be to expand your chest to catch a breath of the limited oxygen left as you panic. Imagine how a man the size of Yokozuna would feel having to face the likelihood of that predicament with the demonic master of shoving & locking huge dudes in caskets being after him.
interestingly - AEW do the same thing as the Yokozuna. Note how Lance Archer or Brodie Lee, or Brian Cage, if they have squash matches it'll be announced as "Lance Archer in action" much like Yoko. Makes a lot of sense really.
Despite all the packages, I liked that Countdown a lot more than some of the past ones. Looked different and the behind the scenes stuff was neat! (like interacting with Vince and Gorilla)
