Dave, in honor of Eiyuden Chronicle, I ask that we put away all pachinko machine references... and Game Dave finally makes that Suikoden 2 retrospective we have been waiting years for. lol nah you're alright! Would like to see it though!
I actually had a pachinko machine growing up, amazing how many old units ended up in western living rooms. O_o??? We had a rat problem and funny enough they collected balls making little treasure piles of the shiny. ^_^ Never tried the dial version of pachinko but I did spend a lot of time dropping the ball in Shenmue2 trying to win at Lucky Hit. ;) Yeah no gambling in Japan, add more steps and it's not gambling. 9_9 Well made "controler" with not much use, could say that about many NES accessories heh.
the crazy thing is for years a large chunk of the pachinko parlors were owned by people affiliated with chongryon, the north korean resident's association (people who were ethnically korean, mostly brought over pre WWII) in japan. they funneled huge amounts of money to the north korean regime up until a few decades ago. also a large percentage of the yakuza is ethnically korean, and a portion of those guys were sympathetic to the n. korean regime, which also helped facilitate things. like this, and the meth trade but that's another story
Not really any different from Bemani / Guitar Hero / PIU controllers, to be honest, they're made for one game or set of games... but if someone could play Sonic Adventure with the *fishing controller,* who knows?
I just found your channel from the Wii sports club videos you did years ago. For some reason they take me back to an earlier nostalgic RUclips reviewer. I love these!! You should be more popular, never change.
While not specifically a pachinko game, Peggle takes pachinko 'style' elements but it let's you position (choose direction of) your shots. This lessens the feeling of randomness.
I always liked the antique pinball games that have no electronics in them they are collectable and fun wont cost you money to play once owned. Thanks you Sir, much appreciated controler & history review.
Way to Go...Dave!! Another great Famicorner episode of Famicom gadget that many people don't know its existence. As a Famicom collector, I owned all those 6 Pachio-kun's pachinko games loose cartridges, except for that bizarre controller^-^"
I remember my cousin had a Pachinko machine in his room when i was a kid, I remember playing it every Thanksgiving and Christmas, my cousin is 10 years older then me so when i was 6 he was 16 and i always remember he had whatbi thought was the coolest stuff
Amazing. I've wanted that controller since I first saw it. I played a little pachinko at Game On Expo (they had a pachinko setup) and see why it's so popular.
My man will you be releasing that famicorner shirt as merch? I'd like mine with a nice v-neck. Even better a tank top with that logo and those colors would be FIRE!!! I guess I could make it myself but I'd rather give you some bucks as I got much joy out of your famicorner series 💜
Lived in Japan three years, never went in a pachinko parlor. They were everywhere though. edit: Might be funny to know our US military bases had slot machines on them.
I never played a real Pachinko machine before, and dont think I'll get my fix via video games ha. Also Dave said "Shallow Grave" so I'm counting this review as a Halloween Special ha 👻 🎃
I just wanted to let you know, I did a parody of "Game Dave" at about the 17 minute mark, of my video review, and recreations, retrospective of the film "Transylvania Twist". watch?v=WW61dVM91b8 in a segment I like to call my vampire/alien theory. I also toss video game boxes around, as if a used car salesman. In a parody of the movies second intro sequence, a mock advertisement for coffins. Hopefully I got the "Game Dave" voice right... ;)
A shame that controller wasn't used by other games for other purposes - an analog racing wheel immediately comes to mind, for instance. An NES version of something like the Ultra Racer 64 or the Namco JogCon, basically. The NES/Famicom barely had any racers of note, sure, but _at least it would've been something_ to do with it besides play those two pachinko games...
There are a handful, not "plenty." Besides, ExciteBike is sidescrolling. Micro Machines is top-down. And Super Off-Road is isometric. None of them would benefit from any kind of wheel controller. There aren't even _turns_ in Excitebike, dude :D That one's more like a basic Motorcycle-themed platformer than a proper racing game, really. And that's what I'm talking about in general; the NES didn't have great racing games because the racing genre hadn't yet cemented into what it was going to be. And when people started to figure out it needs to be behind the car, the 8-bit Nintendo machine didn't have the horsepower to do it. Now, Rad Racer, F-1 Race, and Mach Rider DID an admirable job of getting an approximation of that experience on the thing, but compared to 80's games like Outrun? The NES just never could compete. So y'know... not a lot going on there. And far too many isometric games when people did attempt 'em. Nobody would want a wheel-like controller experience for RC Pro-Am sessions :P
So.. I know old rumor of how Pac Man was invented etc etc, but really, the real inspiration must have been pachinko; collecting spheres in a vertical obstacle..it even shows in the name! Is Pac Man short for Pachinko Man? Share your thoughts
I lived in Japan, and I hated Pachinko Parlors, they are so absurdly loud. I only walked through one when I wanted to take a shortcut to a different street.
Sounds like modern loot boxes. It's not gambling because you can never win your money back. I'm still trying to figure out how the house winning 100% of the time is more ethical than "real" gambling. Good thing it's adult only, and kids can't play these "not gambling" games! Wait a minute!
So Nintendo tried to sell the famicom to the addicted father of childs with their gaming console? I mean, they did not develop it, but they gave them the permission to produce Software for the system... And yeah, Videogames were also hot among the adult demographic, but given Nintendo aims their products primarily to kids and had a strong grip on the licenses? They used the court to do promotion...

Balls.
Always a good day when a new Famicorner arrives
Hey Dan
I heard Konami is remaking this controller for the PS5.
This is a controller to surpass Metal Gear.
Hopefully he does Metal Gear in a minute.
@@shawnparker7415 Roy really should play MGS with this controller it would be a hoot! 😂
They should. I would have them make a pachinko game and controller if I worked there and could offer ideas. It would be funny.
Dave, in honor of Eiyuden Chronicle, I ask that we put away all pachinko machine references... and Game Dave finally makes that Suikoden 2 retrospective we have been waiting years for. lol nah you're alright! Would like to see it though!
You said Ball 12 times before you asked (11 if you don't count the word Pinball) and 32 times in the entire video. Another great video Dave.
This comment deserves a heart
Are you counting the ball in the word "pinball"?
*Legendary Comment Award* 🏆✨
Pachinko is a fun word to say. Pachinko.
there is a pachinko game from 1985 called "Pachicom" also for the famicom
I actually had a pachinko machine growing up, amazing how many old units ended up in western living rooms. O_o??? We had a rat problem and funny enough they collected balls making little treasure piles of the shiny. ^_^

but that's another story
Interesting, ty for the info
If you're buying a whole controller for NES/Famicom gambling... you have a problem.😂
I wish i have that problem, none are on Ebay : (
For NOT* gambling, you mean.
Not really any different from Bemani / Guitar Hero / PIU controllers, to be honest, they're made for one game or set of games... but if someone could play Sonic Adventure with the *fishing controller,* who knows?
They're called surprise ball mechanic machines and are totally ethical and fun. It's not gamnbling we swear!

Best video in a while, in my opinion, really interesting, informative, enjoyable and fun. Nice one Game Dave!
I am surprised Konami hasn't made anything like this
I always liked the antique pinball games that have no electronics in them they are collectable and fun wont cost you money to play once owned. Thanks you Sir, much appreciated controler & history review.

Another amazing video
Love how you make videos on the more obscure stuff!
"Heh, heh, gambling in 60 seconds, all right. What? Shut up!"

"SOMEONES GOTTA BUY IT"!!! Great video bro!
A new episode of Famicorner! A great surprise to wake up to.
Great video love when you have these random gaming peripherals showcased :)
I don’t know if you’ve ever been in a Pachinko place bud GOD DAMN it’s sooo loud in there it almost physically hurts..
Gods bless Game Dave.
It would be neat if Roy did a full review of pretty much anything. Lets make that happen XD
Lived in Japan three years, never went in a pachinko parlor. They were everywhere though. edit: Might be funny to know our US military bases had slot machines on them.
I almost thought this was something that Vinnk sent to Sean on Famicom Dojo. But, Game Dave's Famicorner is a good surprise
Such a great video!
high quality content, as always. way too underrated channel, compared to similar youtubers
Great video. Thanks for that Dave.
I love family corner for it’s weird obscure subjects.
Gotta love how far people are willing to go to gamble.
Great review, and explanation of Pachinko! I’ve heard that even Konami makes Pachinko machines.
1:22 Uh oh, Twitter wouldn't like the name of those machines, haha.
I’ve been considering buying that same controller for the PC Engine!
I hope you can travel to Japan one day if you haven't Dave. It gets weirder 😁😁😁
I never understood pachinko but I know they love that stuff in Japan
great video as always
One of your best vids!
Gamedave why you no longer plant a kiss on your games. Stay entertaining sir. Best.
I got 3 NIB controllers with a famicom lot I won on ebay Japan, I've still been waiting 2 months for the game to get here
I’m amused by that DD Hokuto No Ken pachinko machine.
Someone needs to use this controller on Doom.
I love these games
I never played a real Pachinko machine before, and dont think I'll get my fix via video games ha. Also Dave said "Shallow Grave" so I'm counting this review as a Halloween Special ha 👻 🎃
Using Japanese SMB3 is a nice authentic touch!
Thanks, Coconuts.
...Coconuts _Japan._
I have this exact same controller but for the PC engine. It came bundled with a pachinko PC engine cd game
Can you talk about Ai Senshi Nicol, for de FDS?
Love your content ♥️
I don't think you said 'balls' enough, Dave
Great, put all notifications on
Man, this video has more balls than ball festival.
I'm here for the Onomatopoeia.

I wonder if the analog knob works with arkanoid.
What mic do you use Dave ❤️
That actually looks kinda fun lol. I want to try it
I have an yellow version of it, and for PC Engine. Still don't know why and where it came from.

Quite an interesting video tbh
What a weird device, but I am not a pachinko player. Is there a way to get this to work on a NES?
Arrrgh.... New Fmicorner ,yesss
Quality content EDIT: _*High quality content_

not sure if it would be compatible with this controller, but I have a pachinko game for the disk system
Where can I buy a famicorner shirt? I bought one at a convention and need another please

Hey Dave, you made a video assembling the ultimate GameBoy, could you do the same with the famicom? I'll give you more hints on twitter...

Aw dang
Ebay don't have any right now... they have the PC engine version.
I lived in Japan, and I hated Pachinko Parlors, they are so absurdly loud. I only walked through one when I wanted to take a shortcut to a different street.
Funny cause I walked through and got sucked in lol
Yo I didn't know Patton Oswalt's younger brother made youtube videos
is there any pachinko game on ps4, switch??
Is there a fun pachinko game in existence?

Will this controller work with a clone nes?
Only if it has the Famicom expansion port.

Am I able to buy a famicorner shirt?

I mean, they did not develop it, but they gave them the permission to produce Software for the system...

Hey I got one of those
Heh, funny.
Gambling, not gambling
