Love this theme.....I may be wrong but it's the one I remember from the late 70's.
When I was in 3rd grade or so (1979) I would try to stay up to watch the Honeymooners at 11pm.. When the Yankees were on id have to stay up later and wait for the game to be over. I listened to bill white and scooter calling the game and instantly became a Yankee fan during some of their worst seasons. But growing up in phillies country I'm very glad I took that rout! This, as well as a ton of the comments brought back some awesome memories!

As a Yankee fan originating when they were in second to last place in the very early 70's, when they demolished the stadium and built the current stadium to serve filet mignon instead of just hot dogs I lost some of the passion.
There was something special whenever a player stepped into the same batters box,or close to it, that Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe Dimaggio, Mickey Mantle, Reggie Jackson, Don Mattingly,Derek Jeter among many other greats took their stance.

When I posted on RUclips two years ago, I said to you. All day, Every day, we never closed; didn't I tell you that.. You do recall it. Right?
Okay.. I must tell you that this 1972-73 instrumental version of this theme song used to be on WPIX-TV Channel 11, back in the '70s (besides from the very best 1966 theme song).. the best theme song I had ever heard before in my entire life. (From the time I was a newborn baby in 1977 towards my toddler kid.).. By 1981, that new theme (new recycling version, if I remembered it well) ....( Don't forget 1982-87 version) ..it went downhill and went into the toilet bowl (no offense 😡😠😭). So judging between the two. I must say that the 1966 and 1972/73 New York Yankee theme song (s) is by far the best music 🎶 song I had ever heard. . . thanks again for allowing me to make the case. As Phil Rizzuto (the money 💰 store guy) says..... Hhhooollllyyyy ccooowwww! Thanks 👍 😊 for playing⚾🎆🇺🇸🍟🍔🥤

As a royals fan, I remember the pine tarr incident. But I still don't mind the yankees. I like them to.

@IceManNJD - Actually, this recording (by Sid Bass' orchestra) was from 1967. That was the year this recording (and the vocal version thereof) was issued as a single on Columbia Records (#4-44083).
This was the recording heard at the beginning and end of every Yankee telecast through 1981 or so, with either of the "Voices of 11 Alive," Bill Biery or Ralph Lowenstein, mentioning who the game's "participating advertisers" were.

Brought to you by: Manufacturer's Hanover Savings & Trust... by Getty Gasoline... by Canon, the official camera of the Yankees... by TWA... by Budweiser; when you say Bud, you said it all... by Oldsmobile... and by THE NEW YORK YANKEES.
    ---
IIRC, when the Yankees' broadcasts ended, the music would be cut off about the 1:15 mark, and the "Next on 11Alive" title card would come up, usually telling us that ACTION NEWS was next.
