The 1st one hits harder with joe buck commentating west coast 1 pm Saturday games, and also by transitioning from an out of stadium capture like of the ocean before panning in the stadium for the beginning of a game like at padres, dodgers, giants stadium
Best decision they ever made. All this talk about getting the younger fans interested again. Why the f did they ever get rid of this legendary theme. Glad it’s been back. And there’s been some legendary post season moments since it’s been back.
THIS is baseball music!!! The football music during baseball games makes me think of football. All these years later it doesn't replace this theme and I wish Fox brightens up about this.
Unlike football, hockey and basketball, baseball is more sport that you take in rather than sit at the edge of your seat for (barring key moments like full counts with bases loaded and victory on the line, etc.)
I first time heard this theme back in 2001 when the Angels faced the powerhouse Mariners. The theme was so awesome that I got into the MLB. The funny part was that I read baseball books including the baseball rule book as a kid. I was so happy the Angels won the World Series a year later at that time while the MLB on Fox themes were played during those times.
0:00 - intro, commercial breaks, etc 1:29 - pregame with commentary before they go inside the studio, game breaks 3:31 - I think we all remember this one...starting lineups
This year MLB: The Show brought back the feature where you can put your own music in the game. You can put broadcast music in too, and you can even specify the point where you want the music to start. So guess who's game sounds like a Fox broadcast?
"And welcome to Shea Stadium and welcome to the FOX Saturday Baseball Game of the Week, the New York Yankees and the New York Mets. Welcome to our broadcast booth. I'm Joe Buck along with my partner, Tim McCarver. This is the start of a historic day in MLB as for the first time since 1903, two major league teams will play two games at two different sites, but the story within the story has to definitely do with Dwight Gooden making his return to Shea in a Yankee uniform."
And here is the starting lineup for the home town Chicago Cubs. And they face this Defensive Alignment for the visiting St Louis Cardinals. Seems like that cut @ 3:30 was always to introduce the lineups
04:45 2001 D-backs WS game 7 Tony Womack is leading off. He's shortstop, Craig Councell is batting 2nd Luis Gonzalez hitting 3rd. Matt Willams is Cleans-up, Steve Finley is Center-fileder. Dany Bautistia, Mark Grace, Damian Miller is Catching. And Curt Schilling is Pitchin and Battin 9!
3:32 Let’s take a look at how the Marlins are Lining Up against Pettitte, Juan Pierre leads off in Centerfield followed by Castillo at Second Base, with Pudge Rodriguez behind the plate Miguel Cabrera in Left Field, Conine as the DH, Mike Lowell at Third Base, with Derrek Lee at First, Rounding Off with Juan Encarnacion in Left Field and Alex Gonzalez at Shortstop.
Elijah Ackerman That and not re-signing the NBA contract with NBC. The NBA on NBC basketball theme song Round ball Rock was another all-time great sports theme song.
as a big Cards fan growing up in a house without cable in the 2000s, this song was the sound of an awesome Saturday and I still hear it in my head whenever I'm headed into Busch
“Tigers baseball on Fox Sports Detroit is presented by: BELLE TIRE!!” *this theme plays* “Another beautiful day in downtown Detroit, it’s a great day for baseball as Justin Verlander and the Tigers get set to take on Chris Sale and the Chicago White Sox. Hello everyone, Mario Impemba alongside Rod Allen...” Those were the days man. Bring this theme back!!
This is a great theme! It produces a vast amount of expectation, provokes emotion and memories, and is instantly recognized! Who the fuck changed it to the nfl theme?
nice job. I thought Fox's coverage was a lot better for using these older themes and it felt very generic and shitty when it just went to the NFL theme for everything. I think they even used it for their UFC and NASCAR coverage too now. They think it represents their FOX brand since NFL was the first sport they covered and thus is their longest running and most recognizable theme music. I just think it's lazy and not as appropriate for the other sports.
@billny33 -- i totally agree. It makes me tear my hair out that they got rid of this for baseball. I don't like baseball at all, but I associate the MLB with this. So unfortunate that they aren't using this for the LAD vs HOU world series! Even the NHL theme by fox is GREAT.
I agree. I like their NFL theme a lot, but I think they should even get rid if that. They have used it since 1994, the premier season of the NFL on Fox, and I feel like they should eventually come up with a new one. Plus, this theme just sounds like baseball.
We're live from Globe Life Park in Arlington Texas welcome to the 2020 World Series. The NL Champion Los Angeles Dodgers vs The AL Champion Tampa Rays. This matchup is going to be a good one for the ages. I'm Joe Buck and this is my partner NL Cy Young Award Winner John Smoltz.
The memories of the 2002 Anaheim Angels winning season always come back with these MLB on Fox old themes. Those game-changing home runs, hits, and K-rod strikeouts were a thing of beauty. Those telecasts were nostalgic especially the 1:21 mark when the Angels pitchers walk to the dugout after the third out to end the innings.
K-Rod celebrating striking out the side in the 8th in Game 7 >>>>> That series is what got me into sports. And the end credits after Game 7 still give me chills.
@@BHTheKid5 I started watching baseball in 2001, but the Angels were mediocre at the time. The team in 2002 had the players from the previous season, and they stayed with their core and signed good free agents. The farm system was really good too. K-Rod was fun to watch and he made a big difference in the postseason. I like his celebrations and his fiery spirit. A 20-year-old doesn't do that, and that's what veterans do. The 2002 World Series had a great Fox telecast and it seems, it doesn't compare to today's broadcasts. Even baseball games were televised on national TV at 1 pm. That's a great time to watch baseball, and even better when I see the Angels on MLB on Fox during the regular season. I always like to see K-Rod pitch in 2002 and he looked like a mean starting pitcher with his wind-up. However, he became the closer instead to replace Troy Percival, who is also a vital pitcher for the 2002 championship squad. I honestly miss the 2002 MLB on Fox telecasts and those World Series games. It was amazing and memorable.
At least FOX Sports Nets and FS1 use a variation of this during the regular season. (Rabbit ears FOX doesn't use this for their Saturday casts.) Now if we could only get FOX and FS1 to play this theme during the playoffs...
Ah this theme is so nostalgic. This was the theme that opened all the Mariners early and mid 2000's games when I was growing up in the Seattle suburbs. It was always awesome because you knew you were gonna see some great highlights of Ichiro hitting a homer, stealing a base or Felix throwing a vicious strikeout. Then they signed with Root sports and got this generic theme that really isn't very good at all.
This music brings 1 thought to mind "Good afternoon everybody. Joe Buck, and beside me is Tim McCarver. Welcome to another 4 and a half hour Bataan Death March of a game between the Red Sox and the Yankees"
3:30 makes me think of childhood memories of a bright summer afternoon, having friends over to enjoy the pool with the BBQ going in the backyard. While playing in the pool, we would intermittently come inside to check on the score of the Fox Saturday Game of the Week. Can't think of a better summer/baseball song association for me.
baseballdude21345 that was everyone in the 90s and 2000s. Call it the last television decade. Smartphones destroyed shared culture :( I remember waiting eagerly for Memorial Day every year when Fox Saturday Baseball started up again. It was like welcome to cookouts and summer

I miss this MLB theme music a lot. I was just thinking about it the other day and said "gosh I need to research it." It doesn't feel the same when I watch my baseball game on Roots Sports.
It is a beautiful night here in Chicago! Hello and welcome to MLB on FOX for a great night of baseball between the St Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs! Hello i'm Joe Buck...
LET’S GOOOOO EVERYONE THEY FINALLY BROUGHT THIS BACK FOR THE 2020 SEASON...I guess it is possible after all for a good thing to come out of this shitshow for a year
Two times this theme hits extra hard:
1. Saturday mornings
2. World series
The 1st one hits harder with joe buck commentating west coast 1 pm Saturday games, and also by transitioning from an out of stadium capture like of the ocean before panning in the stadium for the beginning of a game like at padres, dodgers, giants stadium
3. American league has this for every odd year and the National league has this for every even year. Howhever tbs is the secondary one
@AngelAngel-iq4pq You're thinking of Thom Brennaman. Joe Buck did the east coast games.
The theme is back!! On Fox!! In 2020!!
?????
Finally! They should of never got rid of it. 😊
I think fox sports received a lot of complaints by email.
The only good thing in 2020
The only good thing about 2020
Who's here after they brought the song back?

Our Jets suck ass man. 0-16 🙃

HogartsTrain I don't mind, I love football. But baseball is still a big part of American culture.
They still use this theme; it's just a shorter version and it now samples some of the football stuff.
Ikr
+HogartsTrain awesome i love your name.
have a nice day.
After 13 years, the original MLB on Fox theme is back!
Old MLB on Fox
Old NBA on NBC
Those themes were the best
+Alex Patt I remember Roundball Rock for NBA on NBC...I miss that a lot!

What about the NHL ON FOX theme?
I heard NBA on NBC during a NCAA basketball on NBC about a month ago.
hashbrownfob yea fox college basketball uses it now
This still triggers the reaction in me "Wow, I can watch the Mariners lose on national TV instead of a local broadcast!"
As a fellow Mariners fan, hahahaha
Lmao
😅😅😅
I'm no fan of baseball. But damn, this theme is just EPIC. This theme alone could get me into the MLB.
YES. Exactly what you said.

4:40 is for lineups.
1:29 I remember them checking in ongoing Expos games at Olympic Stadium
I cannot believe they brought it back.
Perfect theme while they showed us the highlights at the end of the game

It's back baby!!! The REAL MLB theme!! Brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it again this year
Bring this back!!! The FIRST SONG was the classic For MLB!!!!Not the NFL song like WTF
never should of changed it smh
ARI I thought I was the only one that was pissed they changed it -_-
ARI I don't like the fact that they got rid of this song especially when it seemed fitting to MLB on Fox
Cinemania818 the nfl is a classic but keep it nfl...this theme here got me so pumped for mlb
I feel it in my heart! I wish I can flash back 15 years ago and hear this gem.
FOX Baseball Theme > FOX Football Theme
Yes, but Champions League theme > Any theme
Both written by the same guy, apparently. Scott Schreer.
Fox hockey theme > both of the baseball themes
What?
They brought it back
They brought it back for 2020!! FOX finally listened to us!!
Getting rid of this theme was the stupidest thing ever done in the history of television
they did the same thing with nascar they got rid of sideways by dierks Bentley and started using the nfl theme
I agree If it ain't broke don't break it!
We still have this on FSN in Southern Wisconsin.

It is used for everything: Baseball, Football, Boxing and NASCAR. It is now 24 years old. It, like the CBS ES Posthumous music, needs a refresh.
