@@itscooks1195 I've seen performances where it wasn't an issue though. It could have just been the night. Musicians have bad days also. I imagine this song is second nature to him by now. I can't imagine how many times he's sung it.
This song to me is, for some reason, like no other. I wouldn’t call it my favorite song but it is the only song I could listen to every day. Every time it comes on, I have to turn it up and sing to it.
This song was my childhood, listening to this reminds me of riding through the W.V. Mountains with my family. Song I’ll never skip. So grateful to see him live at APPSTATE.
You are right. I play guitar. I play FAR more complicated tunes. Diminished chords, IV, VI, II progressions across multiple scales and modes. This one sounds basically the best...and it's 4 simple chords in one key. Sometimes simple is good.
i grew up in California. Didn't know a thing about this song. Then I went to college at the University of North Carolina and every frat party I wasn't cool enough to get into would blare this song as I walked by on Friday or during the last week of classes. Didn't think about it. Then I went to a party at a bar with my friends and they all loved this song. I asked this cute girl to dance to it and I finally got it. Nothing ever happened with the girl. But the song stuck with me. Just around this time, Darius's version came out and I played it on repeat. Now, anytime I am at any thing in the Carolinas, block parties, weddings, karaoke, I see folks gather in a circle and sing this song. And it brings me back to my college days, dancing with that girl, watching games with my friends. It's in my bloodstream now. It's part of my musical DNA. God bless Arthurt Big Boy Crudup, Bob Dylan, Old Crow Medicine Show and Darius Rucker.
I was always opposed to country music as a whole but Mister Darius really turned me on to it. His voice is just beautiful, like a gift from God himself and it makes me feel so good after a long ass day at work.
I actually went to this concert with my pops, we always used to listen to Wagon Wheel on the way home from scouting camp outs. Mom always got confused when we’d say to put on the “coming home song”. But it’s one of my favorite memories of him
I used to and still listen to this song when I drive out from Ohio to Pennsylvania to see my girlfriend. Don’t know why it always stuck as the song I played every time I went out there but it’s stuck ever since. I love Darius, and I love this song. Lots of memories associated with it. It’s found its place in my heart for sure.
Darius is finally found his voice its COUNTRY! Ad Hootie and the Blowfish it was great but Coyntry is where he should be. I love his country voice! He is great!
Love, Love Darius's story. Have always loved this song. Our ancestors came to N. Carolina from over the Pond. It always makes me smile too coz reminds me of my son & our great friendship. Thanks, Darius!
I make sure I play this song whenever I’m driving through Tennessee esp Johnson city, what a good life to be a truck driver you get to see all these places these country music stars sing and cherish
I remember being like 8 years old and waking up in my Uncles bed next to my little cousin real early in the morning. My uncle was getting ready in the bathroom, and my little cousin and I just laid there in the early morning listening to this song over the radio. Time sure does fly. May Jah continue to guide, keep, and bless us all and may we bless Jah 🙏🏼🕉
i first heard this song some years ago when I was working in a factory. They pump music into the factory to help you work and amiss the grinding of the machinery I heard it and it jump out of the noise and landed right in my heart. It's been one of my favorite life songs ever since and I listen for it on our local Country station. Folks used to laugh at me because I'm old lady, Black and like Country music. I just say, "You haven't heard "Wagon Wheel".
The story! My son is now 23. He remembered the CDs driving north to his Dad's. We have a place in our hearts for this man. It's a Billy Joel. If you can understand...

I remember seeing Darius with Hootie and the blowfish live in my hometown of Columbia SC. They would play almost every week at the same local bar. He was good then, but definitely in his element now! Really enjoying this.
I saw Darius sing Wagon Wheel in concert here in VA/DC area. Our neighbor has a bluegrass band, and put this on a CD about 2 years before Darius sang it. They sounded awesome. Then I got to relive that elation when Darius sang it also. ❤ sounds great!
Many years ago, when he was with Hootie and the Blowfish, we would go see him and the band before they were big. I'll never forget when we left Charleston, SC and we went to see them for the last time. They gave us a casette of what was to be their first released album of Cracked Rear View.
Hello Susan how're you doing, Your comment caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you. Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you!❤️
I was in a depressive funk up here in the PNW. Rain, Snow, Rain. So I started watching some 90s artists on CMTs Campfire sessions. Love Darius Rucker. Did he do any campfire sessions? slowly coming out of this funk. A little sunshine in Sandy, Oregon helped too.
@dariusrucker1925 I enjoyed Hootie & The Blowfish in the 90s. But I ain't gonna lie to ya, I enjoy soooooooo many artists. I've never been a groupie, and I've only been to one concert in my entire 56 years. Randy Travis.

His voice is 100 proof bourbon... Rough and smooth at the same time. So so good
101 proof. Yesssss
Only 100 Proof? It’s not been in the aging process yet then😂
His talent is mind blowing! Definitely deserves his huge success!
I mean he was already a made man before he even changed to R&B and then country.
Ive never seen this imitate setting video. Daruis Ruckers voice really soothes the soul n makes u want to put song in ur heart n sing....
What a voice! Darius rocks us all, like a wagon wheel....
The man sounds as good live as he does on an album. Different breath control, but the voice. Absolutely sounds just as smooth and rich.
I just commented exactly on the same thing to my son, who is a musician too; but tries too much😂
Juuuup. The breath control is what I noticed too. At the end it became difficult. But damn. Its really good
He sounds better imo!
Darius is beautiful inside and out, audible SOUL being generously shared. WONDERFUL!!!

Darius does this song much justice, his voice smooth as silk, just love this song...

A beat. A melody. And lyrics that make sense. THIS is music. No further discussion required.
Well, it's 50% written by Bob Dylan, and he's written plenty of excellent songs that don't make sense :D - but I'm happy he wrote one for you too! ;-)
