White Star Line scrapped it because they probably could not afford to retrofit it. At that time they went bankrupt and merged with Cunard. The ship was getting outdated and immigrant rides had stopped, so it was decided to scrap it.

So what? why not just sell the ship as a museum :') and leave it there like the QM, who cares if it's sold to another company.
"The ship was getting outdated "
Or so they say... I personally don't belive in the "outdatet bull crap, I mean, the pyramids of Giza are outdated af, why don't they "scrap" them too huh?
Actually scrapping a ship like the Olympic so that people can have pieces of Olympic here and there is like "scrapping" the pyramids so that people could have a piece of the pyramid in their house...

I really hope that you can license out your final Titanic 3D model to museums and other educational institutions after the game is released. Too much effort has gone into it for it to be limited to the shelf life of a game.
I honestly doubt whether even the Chinese full size non-working replica of Titanic has gone to the same level of research that your team has, and that’s a multi-million dollar project. (In fact, I hope you are safeguarding your data well, the Chinese would probably love to hack into it and steal your research for themselves.)

This reminds of me how restorations/recreation process of historical artifacts and architecture works, or at least is supposed to work, in Korea (and I'm assuming many other countries). Korea, despite having over 3000 years of history, has very little records, artifacts, and buildings surviving anytime before the 1400s, mostly because of the numerous invasions and wars. As a result, few movies and TV dramas based on those ancient eras have an unfortunate tendency to make a lot of things up. But when it comes to serious recreations such as in virtual reality or actual restorations (though not always successful), historians would look to any scant clues found in artifacts, artworks, and surviving literature and records from the exact era. Even if there are not very many records, archeological evidence would either validate or provide additional information that wouldn't be in writing. Often, they would mention important details in passing or contain visual references that give an insight into life during that time. If that is not enough, then the historians would look to the corresponding architecture, art, and records from the neighboring countries from China and Japan especially because cultural movement often moved from China to Korea to Japan. Even if China and Japan have very differing architectures, looking into what they have can give us a clue of how the cultural exchange happened and allow us to extrapolate what our version may have looked like. While there is only so much this process can take us especially when we are talking about pre-1400s, this is perhaps the best way to hunt for any kernel of information and pass that onto the next generation. I do wish however that our restoration teams would be as exacting as you good folks in Titanic Honor and Glory are...

There are books out there, that are filled with details, but de facto useless, as they dont show the research, sources etc.
Others are well filled with footnotes, bibliography, references etc., and are absolutely awesome and super valuable research.
I'd hate so see the game come out as excellent rendition of titanic, yet 10, 15, 20 years from now, nobody could verify any research going into this, as there is no references, no sources given...maybe, after the game, turn this giant reasearch blob into a book, and publish?

Believe it or not, I was looking at the inventory and just happened to spot a box of coat hock with three prongs, which says to me that they are all alike and came from a public area. And what do you know you used coat hock with three prongs. .

they should make another video like the one where the reception room is buried, but with another room such as the reading and writing room or the first-class dining room.

I'm super excited for this! The Titanic has been one of my favorite subjects since I was young. Now I have a question, I know your making the entire ship. I've seen the boiler room in the demo, but I was wondering what about the rest of the engine? Will we see the entire thing? I am really interested in seeing the large room with the pistons. (I believe their pistons... could be wrong :P) One of my favorite shots in the 90's movie was seeing the pistons in action with all the crew running around to try and put the ship in reverse. I'm not asking for working pistons, but will that part of the engine be included?

When they expanded the restaurant they added the cafe. Olympic didn't originally have the large restaurant no the cafe.

Look at all these ships interior photos! Yup, everything was beautiful back then!
I got a question also, I think that I posted this question before, but I'm going to ask again. I was wondering about that central lighting fixture from Titanic's a la carte restaurant, illustrated in White Line Triple Screw Steamers booklet, was it installed in the central part of the restaurant or there was that beam passing through the center like presented in the demo?

Why were more pictures taken of Olympic than the arguably "better" and more hyped titanic? Just because she had a longer time afloat?

Will you be adding the second grand staircase to the game? It was completely destroyed when the ship broke up in the last moments of the sinking

  • @shaunbrown85

Surprises me that for people who have researched the ships of the day that you’re only just realising that titanic and Olympic weren’t EXACT carbon copies. There were slight differences but this could end up as big differences the foreign end of the trajectory.

I’m confused as to how Queen Mary would be useful as she was built in the ArtDeco style as opposed to the far beautiful interior designs that Olympic, Aquitania and other 1900 to late 1920s liners had at the time. ArtDeco was more simplistic composed to being ornately intricate like Titanic was.

For Queen Mary, we don't look at her interior decor/design so much but her individual fittings (light switches, structural elements, signage, methods, portholes, etc) which were still much like the Olympic Class.
