Sad though I am for her loss, I am getting fed up of hearing about it. Millions of ordinary mortals go through the same and don’t earn hundreds of thousands to afford all she got. She’s going the way of Gloria Hunniford.

I was an unpaid carer to our family friend and unknown to myself, he had made a Will in 2012 and left me some money as he had no family and his will said any money left after debt paid. was to be left to myself and family. The son appeared after 20 odd year and was given more than half the money when his name was not mentioned on the will. Poor George was a good loyal friend who had knowbody but myself and family to care for him and we never new his son. Scottish law says he should have got 30% so dont understand why the lawyer then changed his mind and says he's got legal rights to more than half the money. I wonder if anyone understands the rights in Scottish law and upaid carers ,when a will was not followed accurately.
The Citizens Advice Bureau is excellent for giving advice and helping people complete the forms. My mum used the CAB when she was caring for my Gran.
Takes a month to het an appointment - then they want to know every facet of your personal details/history before they’ll even talk to you!!! Total waste of time.
Kate is one of the few that got paid for not looking after him.😊
There is NOTHING new here, carers cannot do everything even if we try. We loose friends, family, social connections. CARERs Uk are doing a good job of campaigning and being heard.
What is often NOT mentioned is that carers can be alienated and poorly treated by the care system .
The care assessment can take weeks and months to get.
And takes a couple of hours s…it doesn’t cover anything much.
Also you only need to have about 20 k savings then you have to not only fund everything which is okay…but you also have to try and find the staff to do the help and they are not enough paid carers either.
Carers paid or not MUST be valued more. Being a tv presenter is no more important than being a carer. We need to get a more even playing field.
