I'll never forget when I saw these guys live about 12 years ago. The singer shouted at the audience in his metal voice "do you folks like... Disco?" And they launched into this song, crowd went absolutely hog wild. One of the best gigs I've ever been to.

I was in a pit for this song in Seattle at Studio 7 in roughly 2011. This song was the closer.
The mosh pit had Jig dancing, Break Dancing, and a straight up Vikings in furs dancing like John Travolta in Saturday night Fever.
It was by far the best pit I have ever been and ever will be in.
Nothing more metal than a Viking wearing red and black face-paint playing the violin and singing about Rasputin.

Suomi=Finland. Suomalainen = Finnish or Finns. Suomenkieli= Finnish(languange). Suomi can also mean Finnish language. But you cant say "Do you speak Suomi"(Puhutko suomi) no one would understand you.. "Puhutko suomea" then it would make sence. It's realy hard to explain. Finnish is not even close to English grammar or most of languages. There is no similarities. Of course estonian which is almost identical just one extra letter in the alphabet.
I was listening to the original and thinking it would make for a GREAT metal cover - searched for it and found this and it was EXACTLY what I imagined it would sound like.

The original is nice and good. However this version takes the cake for me because: 1 I am a Folk Metal fan, and a Metal fan.
2 This version is more powerful and has more feeling
3 Its more catchy
4 It hypes up the energy and makes you headbang.
Unfortunately, the meter is all messed up. Maybe it's just the guy in the hat putting no emotion into his lines. This could be great, but he ruined it for me.

I saw these guys perform this live in 2009 supporting dragonforce. They're stage shows are insane! By far one of the best shows I've ever witnessed first hand! Shame draginforce were disappointing though

This is great...I grew up with my Mom having the Boney M gold collection record...loved this song...and the entire record tbh...wish more metal bands would cover their songs
As one can only judge taste by their tastes, I can safely and consciously say that I think this cover is far better than the original, simply because I like metal, and dislike disco. Turisas did a great job on this one and it made them huge. Good for them. Can't wait to see them on the 24th of Februari!

I think the reason why all our opinions vary is whatever song we heard first, we will associate it with.
I heard the Turisas version first so it will forever stick in my mind that the quick tempo and metal music would suit this guy who lived a pretty full life. But I'm sure if I saw it first from the perspective of Bonnie M that, and my view of Rasputin the person himself, would seem a far away fairytale. I think its really cool these two peoples opinions will vary and respect both.
Wow they became pretty big huh? I saw them when they were touring with Sonata Arctica back in 2008 I guess. My friend and I arrived a bit late because we could not find the way to the place, so it had already started. This song was played and what a great way to open it. Awesome.
