So what I did it is I modded the case by cutting out airflow vents in the side panel and mounting the card, fans facing up to the side panel. I Cut out a hole for the io and bolted on some L brackets to which I then bolted on some plexi glass so it acted as a back plate. I then found some random hook looking things in a hardware store and bolted them to the plexi so the weight was supported by the hooks and also by the little lip of the cards Io shield that I simply bolted to yet another L bracket. Hmm... Sounds like it worked out well for you. Maybe in my next build, if I have a similar problem, I can try that. It probably would have been easier for me considering I could easily 3d print a couple of mounting brackets. Well, my method works well so long as it's a cheap card I don't really care about, but your method would work a lot better if I needed to keep the card in tact. Thanks!
People seem to be concerned about the wellbeing of that graphics card, so let me put a few things out there before you report me for GPU abuse: Yes, it would have been better if I used a PCI-e extender cable and mounted the card elsewhere. This would have actually been easier, as I own a 3D printer and could easily have made effective mounting brackets. However, that didn't cross my mind at the time. No, the graphics card is in no danger of overheating and thermal throttling. In my overnight test, when the CPU and GPU were fully stressed and under the limitations of their power budget, no thermal throttling occurred. Yes, this CPU is less powerful than most laptops nowadays, but if it adequately plays games, then it fulfills its purpose. Remember, it was *$15*. No, I couldn't have used a more modern small form factor card, because cards that are newer than this tend to require a UEFI BIOS, which this 2009 motherboard didn't support. See the video for a few more details on that. No, I didn't completely ruin that graphics card. It was worth about $60 at the time, and by the time this computer will be replaced, it'll barely be worth shipping. If it works, then it works. No, the bottom PCI-e slot wouldn't work. It wasn't wired as an x16 slot, only x4. I tried it just to see if it would work, but the computer wouldn't boot in that configuration.
I highly doubt that this computer will ever see any upgrades. The system is so old that spending any more money on it would be a bit of a waste of money, IMO.
I sold my ps4 for a dell optiplex 790, it had a core i5 2400 and 4gbs of ram for 69.99. I bought a hard drive and 4 more gbs of ram for around $40, and bought a gt 1030 for $66. Works amazingly
I built a very similar pc.. with a optiplex 980 i5-750 2.67ghz, 16gb ram.. for $150 on craigslist... I threw a gtx 1060 6gb OC mini in there and it was a beast... Cpu was def bottle necking the gpu a bit but I still could play battlegrounds at 60fps at 1080p... Very cheap way to way outperform a console...

No Name yeah lol so many unwanted workstation pc lying aroynd nowadays 😂 ive paid ~usd110 for a x5675 and a matx x58 board, although its not free but its still way cheaper than new stuff, and the board is new. and i can learn pc build with it
No Name I spend most of my computer time searching for parts or pc. I am in eu,almost nobody had good computers back in the days. So the only good pc you can find are new. And even the rare computers you can find will be overpriced.
I recently bought a hp elite desk sff with an i5 4570, 8gb ram, still waiting for it to arrive, for my niece who's getting more and more in to pc gaming these days. It Only cost me £120 with shipping. I quite like those hp elite and dell optiplex sff business machines . I use a couple of them for my own business, and they work quite well. They're cheap and reliable, and easy to find used since most are bought on service deals, and are pretty much just discarded afterwards. The psu's can handle way more than you would think considering they're only 240 watt, but are also very efficient, and well made. Currently she has another HP elite, with a core 2 quad. and a 1050ti which is massively held back by the cpu. Considering the whole system has cost about £260 with the video card, and will happily run just about anything, and run it well. it's definitely the best bang for your buck for a budget gaming system. Obviously with a 240 watt psu and a small form factor your going to have limitations. But with graphics cards these days drawing less power, and becoming more powerful all the time these types of systems are becoming more viable for cheap gaming systems, or just general home use.

Holy shit bro! So I currently own a Salvaged Dell Business Pc Very similar to yours (2010-2011). Specs are: Intel i7 2600(non K) 16GB G.Skill 12800 DDR3 120GB Crucial m500 (Salvaged from a broken laptop) 500GB Seagate 7200RPM (Salvaged from old school PC) Nvidia Geforce GTX 660Ti 2GB ( Given to me in a broken computer from a family member) 600 Watt EVGA Bronze Power Supply ( Bought open box from Newegg) I Can game at 1080p 120hz on my Hitachi 32 TV at between 60-150FPS..... Of course depending on the game. But IN MY OPINION my PC can still keep up now a days without a hitch. I play GTA V at 1080p high everything average FPS is 65-75. I can play Minecraft with about 500 mods and realistic texture pack with shaders enabled and still game smoothly over 110 average FPS. My PC has never given me an issue and has never failed to install or play a game. It is more or less stock barebones. The only extra parts I have added have all been used and are nothing special ( I had to replace the fan on the graphic card. looks pretty shitty. )With this being said my PC has never thermal throttled on me and can still pass all benchmarks with "factory" tests. I figured I would share my experience with you. Great video man. Have a great day! :)
I got ahold of an Optiplex 3010 a couple of years ago, around the time this vid came out, for $60. It had an i3 3220, 2x4gb ddr3, a 320gb hdd, and Win 7 Pro. I found an i7 3770 on amazon for $13 somehow, and bought a 750 ti for it, and later on a 1050. Ran great for over a year before I ran into mobo problems and by then lacked money to buy a new one :(
From 2:07 onwards, I'd like to ask about installing a new hard drive to a PC, namely, an HDD. Is it really as simple as physically hooking up the cables in the right places, turning on the system and having your windows 10, or whatever software you want to use, disc at the ready? I'm asking because I have a pretty decent PC that unfortunately doesn't have a functional HDD anymore, so I'm looking to buy one online of the same kind, but I've no idea how to install windows on it.
The windows 10 installation media (USB or CD/DVD) will automatically detect the new drive as a place to install so long as it is connected and also enabled in the BIOS. But yeah, it pretty much is that easy.
Did same about a year ago. Got a old HP with a i7 3770 with 16gb ddr and 25gb ssd with a 1tb hdd put into old case with good 550w psu added a 750ti spent $250! Runs great no complaints, never have felt a lack of anything, internet or gaming. U can make a good older gen work real well. For that price I cant get anything better!
to the people that doubt his second hand finds complaining you can't reproduce, sure, mabe not 100%, but that's just how second hand market works, it's more a general idea, not an exact part list. for example I built a system for a friend last month with low budget: i5-3470 / 8GB / 500GB HDD + Win7 for $60 (Lenovo SFF prebuild, Craigslist) 750ti for $56 (Ebay) 240GB Centon SSD 45$ (Craigslist) used case+CorsairCX500 combo $30 (Craigslist) 24-to-14pin adaptor $3 (Ebay) total $194 Now, the prebuild was a nice find, but the guy had dozens coming back from business leases, yes they're worth more but there are way more on the market than people want, so naturally low prices. Also, it took 2 weeks to get all parts, patience pays off.
Ikr, all these videos with the 'ultra budget PC' turn around with a 'got dis i7-6999k with gtx super titan from a lady getin reveng on her cheatin husbond'
I got an i5-4590 (tower) 8 gig DDR3 for $149 delivered and an i5-4590 (SFF) 12 gig DDR3 for $119 delivered from ebay during the last month and will be upgrading both. The SFF will be dedicated to my entertainment center as my DVR, music center, and blu-ray with a 4tb hd, and the tower will be for gaming and other stuff when they are finished.
I just got our old family desktop running, (hp pavilion from 2012) upgraded the hdd to ssd and got a i7 3770, it had 8gb ddr3 ram already. This is my first 'fast' computer for a around $100 upgrade. It's so awesome it can still hold its own these days, keep up the videos man I love this stuff :)
easy you could get cheap case and fit everything normally not ruin the graphic cards and get cheap cooler and will add 10 bucks that doesnt affect that mutch
Tomce Buseski, well, I guess I could have done that, but that's if the motherboard is a standard size, and with these pre-built machines, that may not be the case. Nonetheless, everything works fine.
This is a BTX format pc. It was supposed to be a new better standard for cooling around 2005-2009 but never took off. That’s why the motherboard is mounted on the left side of the case and the GPUs fan shroud faces upward
My current computer comes from like 2009. I Have 14 gb ram, a 750 gb wd black, a 1tb wd black, a core i7 870, and all of this ties in nicely with a duel slot, dual fan EVGA Geforce gtx 1060 6gb. I love this computer so much. That and, I dont look at any of the system requirements any more. This thing handles most games on ultra with like 60 fps at least, unless it's a demanding title.
I just got this build for 120 dollars I5 3550 8gb ram 500 gb storage Windows 10 pro I can't wait to stream some CS GO, fortnite, maybe even overwatch. I am finally a part of the PC Master race! 😁
You should do a comparison video: Which is better, building the top-of-the-line gaming rig using the highest end parts that money can buy, hoping that it will last nearly 10 years, or building a mid-range gaming PC every 4 years or so. Which is the cheapest in the long run for keeping up?
In my country, people would sell their "falling apart" stuff for about 90% off the original price. they would lie about it being few months old. that's why I don't buy used things.
Bro these DELL optiplexes are the BEST bang for your buck PC out there. for 125 to 150$ you get yourself a complete build with i5 2400/3570, hdd, PSU, the works plus windows COA then you slap on a 1050 or a 1050ti...BOOM killer setup!
Interesting video, especially at showing how capable the 1st gen core processors still are (saw another video on RUclips showing how even the 1st gen i3 can still cope with modern gaming). Out of interest, if you had replaced that weird CPU cooler with something else, would that have helped with getting the graphics card to fit?
NEVER buy a used or refurbished hard drive if you plan on storing non-reproducible data on it. I have had too many problems with used drives, and they're so finicky that problems are very common if they aren't really treated properly. The $20 you'd save by buying used isn't worth the possible headache of trying to recover data. You'll forget about that extra $20 in a month, but you never forget the pain of data recovery.
I got an i5-4590 (tower) 8 gig DDR3 for $149 delivered and an i5-4590 (SFF) 12 gig DDR3 for $119 delivered from ebay during the last month and will be upgrading both.
Hey LazerLord10, awesome video!! loved it,...went through it after I had actually built a very similar thing with an OPTIPLEX 9010, guess what, ran through the same incompatibility with the cheap GTX980 I got from a guy,....and instead of giving it a hell of modding and all,....i prefered to mess with the cheap, valueless case instead of messing up the card,...any thoughts???
Just picked up an msi codex off a guy on craigslist for 800$. 7700k, gtx 1070, 32 GB ddr4 RAM, 480 GB BPX NVMe. Gave me his monitor too. He was a generous man.
I did the same for my Steam Box in my living room (bought an ex-office Dell XPS machine that was used for CAD/engineering). I just bought an extra wireless USB adapter and two bluetooth dongles (for wireless game controllers). I added extra RAM and a GTX1050Ti to it.
4:24 It looks like your GPU power usage is all over the map. I'm seeing as low as 40% and as high as 125%. It looks like your GPU is throttling, as is normal when running FurMark. I would recommend moving to an overnight loop of 3DMark TimeSpy or something similar.
I can barely see the number in that clip you pointed out, but during one of the times I was filming, I had a CPU burner running, and it was stressing the CPU too much for furmark to push 40fps and utilize the whole card. I got process priority sorted out in task manager in order to properly test out the card, and the utilization and power usage were at a reasonably stable 100%. From the GPU-Z monitor, it tells me what's limiting performance, and it was only power limits. I never witnessed a thermal limit, and that would only happen over 85C. In my overnight test, I never saw temps above 76C.
I have a dell optiplex 980 that I got from a university. It came with windows 10 pro. The pc was $125. I have 12 GB of ram in it, I put a 600 watt EVGA power supply in it, and I also put an Nvidia gtx 1060 3gb graphics card in it.
I have this very same OptiPlex 980 which I am using to watch this video. The only upgrades I have ever done was USB 3.0 card, SSD and Win 7 to 10. 16 GB when I bought it in 2010.
mine will be used for plex ubuntu & the storage will be maxed out, I paid 30 + shipping with warranty as an I5 I will be getting x3 in the end for the network for storage
i got the cpu i need only to change the gc and upgrade the memory but you forget to mention that cpu has no video inside always is going to need an aditional gc and upgrade the bios for better performance
I like the idea of 3yr old lease return machines, under $100 shipped, ebay, as spare and as NAS. Most branded machines out there still using ATX or ITX (easy upgrades).
I find working computers similar to this in the recycling center dumpster all the time. Found a fx6840-03e with an I7 680, Dell i3847 with I5 4440, various graphics cards GTS 450 and HD5770 and countless 500 to 2Tb hard drives just in the last two weeks. People throw out computers like this because they think they are broken when in reality they need cleaned and reformatted. If you are short on cash and want a free computer, this is where to go.
If you have a local university or hospital surplus, it makes building stuff like this really easy. Luckily I have one close but something like this would have costed 50 dollars. Still really good value.
My friends Boss was unloading some computers and she thought of me and i managed to score 7 of these for $0 been slowly getting them up and running currently on one right now.
Here is my setup: ▶️Dell Optiplex 990 case w/ 265w PSU ▶️I7-2600 vPro @ 3.4 GHz ▶️12GB DDR3-1333 RAM ▶️ASUS GTX 750 2GB GPU (low profile) ▶️2 x 250GB SATA 7200 HDD My question for you is, will my 265w power supply (don't know it's rating) be able to support everything without outputting too much wattage and frying itself and anything else inside?
It does fit, but that slot is only wired as a 4x connection, and not 16x. While the graphics card _should_ work with that amount of bandwidth, windows wouldn't boot properly when I had the card in that slot.
I do own an OptiPlex 980, too. And on an older gpu, the x16 slot wired for x4 can and will handle an r7 260x just fine. But I did have an i3 550 in it. Did well enough for my year of use. But I also paid 80 bucks for it, too.
we also found this main issue with an hp 6200 tower, because the pcie slot is in such an odd place its hard to get decent vid cards to fit, overall i think the dell 790 is one of the best for modding because it has a lot of room for card ( not length though ) and takes generic power supplies no prob, you are stuck with oem fans though
The i7-870 is still a good processor to have today. You can see benchmarks of it and it keeps up with modern games provided you have a decent GPU too. I'm using my trusty i5-760 OC'ed at 3.8Ghz till today without running into any problems at all and i play not so intensive games, but GTAV, Fortnite, Skyforge, LoL, CSGO, all run very fine on medium-high settings with an average of 60-100fps.
My Dell 790 (16gb, i7-2700) budget build with a 1080 I had laying around knows no bounds. Considering the 1080 as $0, It cost $190, including 16gb of matching ram and scrapping the 2x4gb dimms that came in it. Considering that I had an MSI Aero 1080 and had to mod it's cooling system, it came in around $250. Anybody trying to get into pc gaming needs to know what an old library/school computer can do. There is literally no better way to get into it. Throw a $35 chinese 750ti in it, set a couple things on low, and you're set on most modern titles. I had a 1050ti in it before I tossed in the modded 1080, and it killed R6S on high.
I have an Optiplex 3020 as secondary PC. I7-4790, 500 GB Hybrid, 8 GB RAM, Stock PSU/MOBO. Just bought a 750ti and it was good to go ! Overall, less than 300€ to run Farcry 4 at 60 fps.
Points to anyone who knows the case form factor...it's BTX, an evolutionary dead end first pushed because Intel's CPU's starting with the Prescott Pentium 4 were too dang hot. And it is why you can't get a gaming card in, and have to open the case from the wrong side.
When a 190 pc from 2009 is faster then your 1k laptop from 2016...

I tried it just to see if it would work, but the computer wouldn't boot in that configuration.
when you upgrade the GPU you can use the extender =)
I highly doubt that this computer will ever see any upgrades. The system is so old that spending any more money on it would be a bit of a waste of money, IMO.
LazerLord10 i wish you still played minecraft :(
Pedro Chehoud He just has told to us, once again, that's the only one which isn't requiring an UEFI I'n order to be recognized by the mobo. D
LazerLord10 Is it really safe? I mean is there no one at risk on your assembly? Please help me, because I just learned to assemble a computer
Where do you find these school auctions!?! I need answers.
joe nodden I think he went to one of those college surplus stores
Not a school but I got 3 of these from Shopgoodwill.com for about $40 each, but that was about 3 years ago.
Throw an i7 870 in there and it'll fix that bottleneck. They're about $65 on eBay.
PimptatoPCs or Xeon X5670
got my current pc for ~$90. Its cause it wasnt in use anymore where my mom works
its has
intel i7-2600 @3.4Ghz
6 gb ddr3 ram
1 TB crucial memory
500W power supply
AMD radeon hd 6750 (1gb vram)
ik the graphics card is pretty shite (and sorta the ram), but im content with the system overall. You give me inspiration to look for a cheap graphics card that'll run games more smoothly.
omfg it's a school PC
Justin Law I wish I can rob them but I can't. Rip me
plz don't Rob them we still use them ....
Justin Law I know I'm just joking
k. I know it's just sad we haven't gotten new PC's ever since 2009
Justin Law it's still good
It's just probably slow because all the dust and slow hard drive or you actually do have crappy PC's
I love restoration vids like this
Started from nothing built to something
The thing is that you got lucky,if I try to do the same, the start pc would cost me 100.
My system altogether cost me around £850.
£130 for ASUS P6T Deluxe (X58) motherboard with it i7 920 - Sold the cpu for £30 and got an x5650 for the same price
£30 for 2x8gb sticks of corsair vengeance LPX 1600mhz
£100 for Corsair H110 (£80 + £20 for aftermarket fans because the stock ones are horribly loud)
£60 for Fractal design mini C (windowed version) case
£40 Corsair CX600 PSU new
£350 Inno3d X2 GTX 1080 (Got a fucking amazing deal here)
£140 Crucial MX300 525gb ssd (£125 for the ssd, £15 for a pcie to sata 3 6gbps adapter beings motherboard only had sata 2)
£0 1tb hdd i got from a friend for free
Got fucking amazing deals here, plays any games maxed out 80+fps @ 1440P.
CPU is overclocked to 4.8ghz stable and the gpu runs at about 2050mhz (however fans can get a bit loud but im about to buy a kraken G10 + corsair h55 to cool that thing nicely).
I'd say this system is a price/performance king :)
No Name yeah lol so many unwanted workstation pc lying aroynd nowadays 😂
ive paid ~usd110 for a x5675 and a matx x58 board, although its not free but its still way cheaper than new stuff, and the board is new. and i can learn pc build with it
No Name I spend most of my computer time searching for parts or pc.
I am in eu,almost nobody had good computers back in the days.
So the only good pc you can find are new.
And even the rare computers you can find will be overpriced.
i got a PC with an i5-2500k, asus p8z68 Mainboard, 8gb RAM, 650watt psu, and a gtx750ti for 150€
@@imnota same here, even optiplexs are overpriced, on ebay..
But with graphics cards these days drawing less power, and becoming more powerful all the time these types of systems are becoming more viable for cheap gaming systems, or just general home use.
i traded my xbox one 1tb and two controller, no games for an pc with
560ti 1gb
i7 2600k
60gb ssd
1tb hdd
wifi card
msi h67ma-e45
8gb corsair vengeance cl9 ram
700w ocz psu
i also got a good deal on an used r9 270x 2gb for 40$
Thats a good deal i think, because used xbox one goes for 200$ in sweden :)
Wow, that is a really good deal!
Jonathan Lundqvist I hate Swedish
Jonathan Lundqvist wanna change your pc for Xbox One 500GB with 1 controller, GTA 5, Watch Dogs, Rocket League, Life Is Strange, Gears Of War 4, Halo 5 with Ted 2 Movie?
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Jonathan Lundqvist I sold my Xbone for 100 nice sell dude :)
very nice ! I have same setup for ~400€
but I bought additional 8gb ram (16 in total)
ssd
beefy cpu cooler, clocked it to 4,5ghz
gtx 970 asus strix oc (hell of a deal 150€)
and I'm good to go, for games, programming and so on it works briliant !
and so far so good, no issues whatsoever
i have like 7 of similar systems that I upgraded ranging from an Optiplex 745 to a 7010. its a good hobby to pickup if you're into getting good PC's at a budget
I made a $200 pc.
1060 3gb
8gb ddrR
b350m pro-vd plus
550w semi modular
1tb hdd
120gb ssd
q300l
Everything was used
Noice but y only 8gb ram this build was 10 bucks cheaper and had 16gb ddrR beat that now build a pc with 16gb ddrR now.
man those i5 and i7's even the i3's used in offices where very basic programs were runned is totally overpower. even the 1st gen i3 today can used for older games
Ruined 70$ card becouse of 5$ case.
+Nikola Karovic what you gonna do about it
Marco Mark Productions nothing just leaving coment for other people to remind them about that cyka byat imbecile action on card haha (people dont do that at home !)
Nikola Karovic from what I know those pc can't be easily transplanted into normal case
Buy a NVIDIA Zotac GEFORCE GTX 1050 TI 4GB Mini ZT-P10510A-10L !!!
The card is still fully functional, he just hacked up a $20 cooler
I like how you go out of your way to explain details about power draw. Would love to see more content like this!
Yeah, for some reason everyone I mentioned this build to immediately thought that the pre-installed power supply would be completely inadequate, but I sure did prove them wrong!
The desktop I have at home is from 2000 and has an Intel Celeron with one thread clocked at a whapping 1.8 gigahertz.
I'm sorry for your loss. :(
Mrs Unknown I'd take it off your hands I like older hardware
If I were you... I’d kill my self right now.😆
i had a cat pissing on my audio amp once...
Every time the thing heated up,i remembered my long gone kittykat...
such a "memory"on youre amp will last a very long time.
Kittycat,i miss you,but i dont miss youre"playing around" 1 love sweety!
Holy shit bro! So I currently own a Salvaged Dell Business Pc Very similar to yours (2010-2011). Specs are:
Intel i7 2600(non K)
16GB G.Skill 12800 DDR3
120GB Crucial m500 (Salvaged from a broken laptop)
500GB Seagate 7200RPM (Salvaged from old school PC)
Nvidia Geforce GTX 660Ti 2GB ( Given to me in a broken computer from a family member)
600 Watt EVGA Bronze Power Supply ( Bought open box from Newegg)
I Can game at 1080p 120hz on my Hitachi 32 TV at between 60-150FPS.....
P.S.- A Geforce 660TI is almost exactly the same as a 750. The more you know.....
Cool! The better CPU is probably helping you out there, but other than that, they are pretty similar systems.
I think the ram on that system has a higher clock speed.
addictiveconduct about how much does your pc cost?? I would like to build cheap gaming pc
I play dota 2/cs-go/gta v/
addictiveconduct We need your videos
I got ahold of an Optiplex 3010 a couple of years ago, around the time this vid came out, for $60.
It had an i3 3220, 2x4gb ddr3, a 320gb hdd, and Win 7 Pro.
I found an i7 3770 on amazon for $13 somehow, and bought a 750 ti for it, and later on a 1050.
Ran great for over a year before I ran into mobo problems and by then lacked money to buy a new one :(
If you kept it, look on ebay for a twin (or newer) to put your mods in!
Can it run doom 2016? Every pc i used in my life doesn't meet the minimum specs!! I need a low cost pc that can run that game!
Yea it runs doom extremely well with a better graphic card. I used the gtx 970 and it works at 1080p
you should unplug both optical drives so its less of a strain on the PSU
in east europe this is 400$ or more
In South Europe the same. Spain sucks
But yeah, it pretty much is that easy.
i got a pc for 10 bucks at a thrift store wit ha 1tb hdd a i7 2600 8gb of ram xD
Dude, nice! Better CPU that mine.
WTF!!?? Damn u lucky
That must be one of those good ol' Dell Optiplexes.
no you didnt
I scan the shelves every once in a while for this exact reason
Did same about a year ago. Got a old HP with a i7 3770 with 16gb ddr and 25gb ssd with a 1tb hdd put into old case with good 550w psu added a 750ti spent $250! Runs great no complaints, never have felt a lack of anything, internet or gaming. U can make a good older gen work real well. For that price I cant get anything better!
How Many fps in minecraft?
Enough
LazerLord10 lol ok
LazerLord10 what's the ip of the server where you did the skyblock
No ip, it was local.
NoFakeSurMc like 10 fps cuz its poop
to the people that doubt his second hand finds complaining you can't reproduce,
sure, mabe not 100%, but that's just how second hand market works, it's more a general idea, not an exact part list.
for example I built a system for a friend last month with low budget:
i5-3470 / 8GB / 500GB HDD + Win7 for $60 (Lenovo SFF prebuild, Craigslist)
750ti for $56 (Ebay)
240GB Centon SSD 45$ (Craigslist)
used case+CorsairCX500 combo $30 (Craigslist)
24-to-14pin adaptor $3 (Ebay)
total $194
Now, the prebuild was a nice find, but the guy had dozens coming back from business leases, yes they're worth more but there are way more on the market than people want, so naturally low prices.
Also, it took 2 weeks to get all parts, patience pays off.
Ok now find me about 25,000 of these for 15$, or this video is irrelevant to everybody who watches it...
Ikr, all these videos with the 'ultra budget PC' turn around with a 'got dis i7-6999k with gtx super titan from a lady getin reveng on her cheatin husbond'
But hes just showing a sick pc he got for $190. Hes not trying to get people to build one of these.
It's not hard to find pcs like this though at federal surplus sales or at universities
I always see these PCs at goodwill
Personally I was able to get a pretty decent rig for about $105. I was able to get an i5-4590, RX 460 and 4GB DDR3 RAM
Creepernick02 how much did you pay the for rx460?
It's so awesome it can still hold its own these days, keep up the videos man I love this stuff :)
what is your graphic card and how much capacity does have your psu?
gtx 750 for 60$
lol
in my habitat gtx 750 still cost up to 120$
Would it work for SFF (Small form factor)
easy you could get cheap case and fit everything normally not ruin the graphic cards and get cheap cooler and will add 10 bucks that doesnt affect that mutch
Tomce Buseski, well, I guess I could have done that, but that's if the motherboard is a standard size, and with these pre-built machines, that may not be the case. Nonetheless, everything works fine.
LazerLord10 is the motherboard in this computer the right size to be able to do that?
C0sMic Podzie yes
This is a BTX format pc. It was supposed to be a new better standard for cooling around 2005-2009 but never took off. That’s why the motherboard is mounted on the left side of the case and the GPUs fan shroud faces upward
how did you download windows 10 on that? I have the same program and dont know how to get rid of it. Thx
I looked it up, downloaded it, burned it to a DVD and then booted?
This is why I love dell computers/laptops because they are good and last a longtime especially the dell latitude series
Just get a Dell optiplex for $20 and then put a $180 graphics card and you got a gaming pc
Where can you find a optiplex for 20 bucks??
BoardZzy fr all the decent ones cost 100+
@@seniorpepe9386 True dat!
One major drawback: since the MB is OEM - no overclocking options.
If there was a possibility to overclock the RAM, everything would be a lot faster
I once saw a pentium 4 machine on the side of the road. They never removed the hard drives.
Great video! It's amazing the kind of PC you can get for the money.
But will it run minesweeper?
Yes
Adam S. ruined joke
no it will be super lag 0.00000001 fps
you ruined it
lol
4:22 The thing on the bottom screen is a hairy ring. Not the eye of Sauron.
BOI THIS STUFF WORKS BETTER THAN MY DAMN MAIN PC AND LAPTOP WTF?!?!?!
great vid, a little bit of complicated build for most users, but great price point and good starting point for people looking for cheap builds.
lol I got a intel i7 920, 16gb ddr3, hd 6850, 1tb hdd, windows 10 pro and a 500watt power supply for 30$
doubtful...
Zipping Basher sure you did 😉
Got it off craigslist
ok
Possible if it's an optiplex
My current computer comes from like 2009. I Have 14 gb ram, a 750 gb wd black, a 1tb wd black, a core i7 870, and all of this ties in nicely with a duel slot, dual fan EVGA Geforce gtx 1060 6gb. I love this computer so much. That and, I dont look at any of the system requirements any more. This thing handles most games on ultra with like 60 fps at least, unless it's a demanding title.
I just got this build for 120 dollars
I5 3550
8gb ram
500 gb storage
Windows 10 pro
I can't wait to stream some CS GO, fortnite, maybe even overwatch. I am finally a part of the PC Master race! 😁
ChAoz_49 I just got a GT 730 I streamed for a while at 720p 30fps with fortnite I haven't tested CS GO yet
Lol u wanna stream with gt 730 and and 3th gen i5 lolol.
KyloRenYT "3th"
Cris r/Iamverysmart
Cris i wasnt makimg fun of you
What are the flashing numbers at the top of the case?
$15??? That's a sick price point man. Lucky
You should do a comparison video:
Which is better, building the top-of-the-line gaming rig using the highest end parts that money can buy, hoping that it will last nearly 10 years,
or building a mid-range gaming PC every 4 years or so.
Which is the cheapest in the long run for keeping up?
In my country, people would sell their "falling apart" stuff for about 90% off the original price. they would lie about it being few months old. that's why I don't buy used things.
Bro these DELL optiplexes are the BEST bang for your buck PC out there. for 125 to 150$ you get yourself a complete build with i5 2400/3570, hdd, PSU, the works plus windows COA then you slap on a 1050 or a 1050ti...BOOM killer setup!
why did you not go with msi gtx 750 ti low profile 2gb ddr5
Because I couldn't find one on ebay.
I've seen dozens of ISIS execution videos but watching a graphics card being tortured like this is too much for me
poor 750ti
Thank you for producing a very comprehensible and comprehensive video, congratulations on achieving real power in your budget build.
you could of gotten a cheaper HDD from eBay used
NEVER buy a used or refurbished hard drive if you plan on storing non-reproducible data on it. I have had too many problems with used drives, and they're so finicky that problems are very common if they aren't really treated properly. The $20 you'd save by buying used isn't worth the possible headache of trying to recover data.
You'll forget about that extra $20 in a month, but you never forget the pain of data recovery.
Nah I did it. But mine was refurbished, with 0 zero hours. So I mean try to find one of those on ebay is what I'm saying.
I bought a refurb and it was dead on arrival.
That stinks. IDK there's just crazy deals on eBay so that what I'd recommend.
That's insane how you got this PC with an i7 in it tho
Its hard to find these deals, the average price for an old Dell with i5 or i7 on ebay is $ 70 to 100. Still better than buying new parts.
I got an i5-4590 (tower) 8 gig DDR3 for $149 delivered and an i5-4590 (SFF) 12 gig DDR3 for $119 delivered from ebay during the last month and will be upgrading both.
I'd rather just buy a 200 dollar pc
Jeremy X gamer then it will still not be more powerful
I smelll chrome OS
and get something like an atom or a celeron? no thanks.
atomic the irony at your currency ha, £100-200 in uk can get you quad gaming systems with decent graphic cards, it varies on generations of hardware
TheSilentGameTestR can u link some examples ?
Hey LazerLord10, awesome video!! loved it,...went through it after I had actually built a very similar thing with an OPTIPLEX 9010, guess what, ran through the same incompatibility with the cheap GTX980 I got from a guy,....and instead of giving it a hell of modding and all,....i prefered to mess with the cheap, valueless case instead of messing up the card,...any thoughts???
need more of this type of mods u make...
I added extra RAM and a GTX1050Ti to it.
pc part picker link maybe? or a link to something like this?
4:24
It looks like your GPU power usage is all over the map.
In my overnight test, I never saw temps above 76C.
i like how you were cleaning it in the leaf pile very smart :)
The only upgrades I have ever done was USB 3.0 card, SSD and Win 7 to 10. 16 GB when I bought it in 2010.
well, the shop friend, how do i find one?
mine will be used for plex ubuntu & the storage will be maxed out, I paid 30 + shipping with warranty as an I5 I will be getting x3 in the end for the network for storage
i got the cpu i need only to change the gc and upgrade the memory but you forget to mention that cpu has no video inside always is going to need an aditional gc and upgrade the bios for better performance
I bought a Optiplex 3020 with a 4130, I put a 1050 ti in it and put 8gb of ram, then a 450w psu and a i7 4770.
I like the idea of 3yr old lease return machines, under $100 shipped, ebay, as spare and as NAS. Most branded machines out there still using ATX or ITX (easy upgrades).
Why dont you just use the 2nd pcie slot? You could mount the cooler back
I find working computers similar to this in the recycling center dumpster all the time.
Here is my setup:
▶️Dell Optiplex 990 case w/ 265w PSU
▶️I7-2600 vPro @ 3.4 GHz
▶️12GB DDR3-1333 RAM
▶️ASUS GTX 750 2GB GPU (low profile)
▶️2 x 250GB SATA 7200 HDD
My question for you is, will my 265w power supply (don't know it's rating) be able to support everything without outputting too much wattage and frying itself and anything else inside?
Also an inspiron 660s is a good cheap one, you can put a gt 1030 low profile in it.
Great video but couldn't help but feel sorry for the card lol. I'm building a couple budget builds soon too!
wasnt there another PCI-E slot at the bottom of the mb, surely you wouldnt have had to modify the graphics card if you used that one
It does fit, but that slot is only wired as a 4x connection, and not 16x. While the graphics card _should_ work with that amount of bandwidth, windows wouldn't boot properly when I had the card in that slot.
I did found a Dell Studio XPS 7100 for 150USD and it plays all the games I play at med to high at 1080p so it can be done
can't you upgrade the Heat Sink for this System? So you don't have to cut anything?
What did you end up doing with this build? Would you sell it? My University doesn't have a surplus store.
Hence why all of the comments saying "Just get a new case, bro" make me mildly infuriated.
@@LazerLord10 Well, just get a new case, bro
