Oakland Raider Quarterback , Derek Carr, shares his story of redemption and how he and his wife Increased their faith in Christ, relying on Him to get them through contending with a life-threatening illness to their newborn child, Dallas.
On his realization that he'd strayed:
"God put His foot down on my throat and said, 'I've got special plans for you and you're screwing it up'"
On how his faith got he and wife through the multiple surgeries:
"Before he went into surgery they wheeled him out, we all grabbed hands and I prayed over him. I prayed for his strength and I praised God that we had even one day to spend with him."
"If you only knew, I would go into the bathroom and cry my eyes out. You can be a real Christian, but, be dying inside, you know, because we're human"
"That's how I know He's (God) with me, because I have a peace and a joy. I can't describe it, but, I have it and I know it's real."

I'm not a religious but I 100 percent respect Derek carr and the person he is today. I'm a huge raiders fan and love the leader we have for our team. A truly fantastic man.

I was so happy to see we drafted DEREK CARR and even happier he is RAIDER NATION'S QB! i have so much respect for him on the field and even more off the field! I'm old enough to be his father and yet i find myself looking up to this man!!! great video and great story told by him and his wife!

I've been a Raiders DIE HARD FAN since the 60's. I remember living in Oakland, rooting for Daryl LaMonica and meeting him and Eugene Upshaw, Jim Otto, George Blanda. Jerry DePoyster and others at a father/son dinner at my school.
I've been through thick and thin with these guys and as any TRUE Raider fan knows... The Autumn Wind swirls in your soul forever... It's like the Hotel California...

When I gave my life to Christ in 2011, I gave up on all my sports teams. I was an idolater when it came to sports being from L.A. Raiders, Dodgers, Lakers, Trojans, you name it. I gave up all my jerseys, memorabilia, etc. I gave up so much stuff I didn't realize how much stuff I had. But when I saw this, and the Raiders drafted him, I got back on the wagon simply to root for this young man. I don't care if the Raiders go 0 - 16. I simply want to see God glorified in this man's life. When Derek is signed by another team someday in Free Agency, or he chooses to retire, that's when I will forever leave the Raiders cheering section. I will always root for Derek. Even if he became a Bronco. God bless him and his beautiful family.
