Yes I was chewing gum. I suffer from anxiety attacks sometimes so chewing gum is one way I calm myself down. Anxiety can happen anywhere. Especially for those of us who suffer from anxiety attacks.
Hi. I am in PR and owns a 2005s since Oct 2019. It is black outside with caramel seats and panoramic roof. First thing done when bought it was to correct all they oil leaks. It was 88k Miles. That was done by a specialized Mechanic. Then I replace My self the sir conditioning fan resitor. Unfurnatelly the plug was burned out. Then during this two years I have replaced My self struts and shocks, struts mounts, break hoses, rear calipers, hood opening cables, horn, etc. Back to the shop and replace all three lines of power steeeing, and radiador mounts, and intake tube. But it has been a really fun car. Going to Mini activities around the island every two months. It is basically stock. Only has an Alta pulley and kn intake filter. Very fun to drive
Miniaic you drop great info. I told jarr not to look if you chewing gun mess with them. I also asked if she/he was old enough to drive. I enjoy all your videos. I'm saving up for my first Mini Copper. I've wanted one since I first watched the Italian job. My daughters are on their own now. I dig your saying: don't drive a boring car, drive a Mini. I prefer the original look of the Mini Copper. So the 05 and 2006 i really like. Plus i trust what the Miniaic says. He knows minis, besides, it's in his name. Which is a very cool name. Bcool brother Miniaic. Appreciate you.
As someone who bought an ‘04 JCW as a fun project without much research beforehand, buy the nicest one you can find! They will bleed you dry on all the items to replace if like me you buy one that has not been well taken care of. But, still fantastic little cars, and this was a good overview of the problems.
I've owned an R53 jcw in the same color. I still miss that car everyday after getting rid of it for a family luxary car. The enjoyment I got when driving that car is something I can't get at all driving the family car.
@@TheMINIac Already made a great deal with the wife. I'm currently driving the family car and she drives the second/smaller car. Getting her a family car will allow me to buy a Mini again 😉
Just to add I found this out with experience, you do not need to buy a aftermarket switch for auto up windows. I was able to code them on my 2003 cooper s using NCS Expert and NCS Dummy. Changed my life though it seems.
These are now going up in price here in Au also. A good one will set you back more than an R56S. Luckily many here optioned the JCW kit. I do still eye them off wondering if I should grab a good one.
Zac, you need to search for / see the SMART Concept #1 EV (from Mercedes) that has been shown at Munich MS. Countryman similarity or not? I'll watch this in full later, I promise.
Great video and a nice example of a future classic. I have these R98 wheels on my R56. Got them refurbished as the originals corode like hell as there's no sealant used to assemble them. My first BMW Mini was a R50. It was great to drive but the trim rattled and the suspension was too harsh. Our roads in the UK are shockingly bad. You can buy so many decent non-OEM parts in the UK so maintenance and refurbishment of early Minis is real cheap.
It’s a good modern classic. But I personally believe the Turbo 1.6 R56 Second Gen Mini Cooper S - 2007-2013 with the N18 engine is really the true Modern Classic.
@@TheMINIac the first gen was never available in India. Sad. Next time I travel I ll try and find one to rent and drive. Maybe when I come to America I ll look you up and you can fix it….
How can I tell if a jcw kit is genuine? I looked at one today and everything was the same except no serial number on the tuning kit. He does have a certificate because it was installed after he bought it. You think it's legit?
MINI did not produce the factory JCW in July 2005. This car has the dealer installed tuning kit. VIN check confirms that it did not leave the factory with the JCW package (which would have added the JCW brakes too) It’s still a fantastic example of a well optioned R53 with the dealer installed JCW 210 tuning kit.
The 2006 I test drove was almost impossible to get into reverse.. I'm guessing it was something to do with the shift cables as I saw Eric The Car Guy replace his on the Mini he had and redid. BTW please spit out your gum before doing a video where you talk into the camera in the future.. I find it incredibly disgusting to see someone's gum when they are talking.

The first generation is still the best to me. They just going bigger and bigger since then.
Great review, I just bought me a Mini R52 2005 convertible with 30,404 miles like new and I’m loving it
That’s awesome.
I sure like my 1st generation Mini R50 it is great fun to drive on curvy roads, Thanks for the video liked hearing the supercharger whine
Glad you enjoyed it.

....where can a find a wiring diagram for this same exact car??? Please...Thanks in advance..😎
👍
Question: can you put a JCW tuning kit on any model? I’m trying to do something with my R60
Love my R53 06 s, definitely wanna save for a low mile one to daily in the future

I enjoyed this video - thanks for making it. I have a 2006 R53 with some JCW bits - aero kit and 18" wheels. I am a big fan of the R53s.

I highly highly doubt the cars never been put into front end service mode. My 06 has the original bolts and it's been in fsw many many times.

@@TheMINIac - heavily biased I think!
you clearly have a r56 or have never drivin a r53
I’m assuming he probably has never driven a first GEN. I think the first gens are incredible just because of the noise the supercharger makes.
@@TheMINIac the first gen was never available in India. Sad. Next time I travel I ll try and find one to rent and drive. Maybe when I come to America I ll look you up and you can fix it….
Then that would explain it. 👍🏻
Love these type of videos by the way. I learn so much
I enjoy my Black 2005 Cooper S Jcw with Aero package👍🇬🇧 A Modern Classic.

Thanks for the quick response…. I’m on to you 05 Min
With an upgraded super charger and did the clutch and flywheel myself
Forgot to mention, those nuts holding on the front struts are not in safety when a strut brace is fitted so I would pay attention to that.
My 2006 S cab had the supercharger go out at 130,000. The JCW supercharger was cheaper. Yes please!
I have a 2002 mini Cooper s JCW!
And the ignition wire thing is not correct.

E questo chi è? La versione inglese del Greg?

2024 my mini is strong
It’s a baby bonnet

Maniac drops great info. Don't look at him if him chewing gun mess with you so much. Are you old enough to drive?
