You dont have to remove the cush drives completely unless you are replacing them. just use a socket underneath them and hammer the sprocket off the carrier. Thats how the service manual says to do it.

You should remove the pinch bolts from the adjuster , push a chisel into the gap , spread it open and spray the hell out of it with WD40 !! work the adjuster back and forth till it moves easily!!! Now when you need to adjust the chain you stand a chance!!! 😀😀😀😀🏍🏍🏍🍺🍺🍺
Just tried changing my chain and sprockets all went well until from the front sprocket the chain catches the inside of the frame 🤷🏻 tried everything no luck
...its quite amazing how little wear there appears to be on the old rear sprocket - kind of a testament to the quality of metallurgy Ducati has here - the front has what I'd rate as normal looking wear, curious what chain you went with if not factory? Thanks for sharing!
What did you say the star nut size on the rear sprocket was? The audio skips right when you're saying it. Sounded like "T60" but that doesn't look right when I look it up.
If you are doing a how to video, or an explanation video WHY would you edit the footage and overlay the music louder than your voice? Jus my comment for future videos, haven't seen any other of yours.
thx, however in that video, the bike didnt have a single sided swingarm and thus no rod to rest and block the chain on, so how is it done on a multi is still a mystery to me :)
Hey, did you best I've come up with thus far is longest spacer on sprocket to outside for best chain and sprocket alignment. I haven't ridden it yet because the front spocket just feels like its going on opposite from what it should be......wondering how this worked out for you? Thanks Rick
There are at least two steps not needed in this procedure. No need to remowe the wheel, no need to loosen the rear sprocket bolts. Quite more easy if you know what to do before doing it.
Hi Vento, I agree, I referenced that at 2:01 that you don't need to take the wheel off. The reason I took everything off (as I mentioned in the video) was to give everything a good clean and inspect the other parts.
Thanks for the Video..my recommendation is lose the music next time..you don't have a loud voice and I had to go back 2-3 times on some things to be able to figure out what you were saying.
Hey cool video. How often do you change (or is usual to change) the chain and the sprockets. I know that it depends of the drivers but what is the average??
Jhon Bastidas Hi John, it really does depend on riding style and quality of sprocket. On this video I replaced the chain and sprocket at 17k miles which was well overdue I should have changed it probably 2k miles earlier. It also worth noting that if you don't regularly maintain your chain the sprockets etc will deteriorate faster. I've recently changed the chain an sprockets again at 25k because the sprockets I bought were cheap. I'm filming today fitting a chain oiler to my new set which should hopefully see this set last longer! But in answer to your question I would be happy with 12k from a chain and sprocket. In my F800 GS I've done 145k miles and regularly changed at 12k miles.
Ok thank you. Even the builder's manual says to disassemble the wheel, but I did not understand the reason, disassemble the wheel to replace only the sprocket, can only be done if you have a central stand that Ducati Diavel does not have.
Thanks for the feedback :-) I've got another video coming out for fitting a chain oilier. Need to change the chain and sprockets again! This bike eats them!
Vagner Riquetti ---> I had a shaft drive motorcycle years ago... and the chain driven Multistrada now. Even though a chain requires periodic maintenance/adjustment, I much prefer a chain drive. Shaft drives are clunky... there is no 'give' as you have with a chain.
Ed, you did a very good video. It was very informative, logically and adequately demonstrated. Thanks and keep up the good work

Just to be clear the sprocket is not fully attached to the carrier. Everything is held in place by the axle nut. Is that correct?
What song is this? very good taste . Thanx
Nice job....👏👏👏👏
Thanks 😊

Great song.

Great video dude and the music was solid!
Thank you :)
Nice video!! Do you know a good site to find the torque settings for reassembly?
Ducati uk forum has links to the manual with torque settings
Good video but misses how to break the chain, and inspecting and greasing the front sprocket as per service manual
Cheers buddy, good video. Thanks for this.
No Problem, glad you enjoyed. I'm working on the bike all the time, let me know if you need a video on anything else.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve got quite an annoying voice that was my attempt at masking it, I really should of done subtitles!
I think the music is great.
you have link for the front sprocket please? :) thx
btw, nice clear vid!

Hi when changing front sprocket is the flat side facing towards you or the bike ?
Cheers

Could you share where you got your rear sprocket? I'm having a hard time finding one that's not an aftermarket race part. I just want OEM

Are this sprockets fors ESJOT any good?

thanks a lot man.
Hi, why do you disassemble the wheel to replace the rear sprocket?
Only because I wanted to get behind the frame to clean it and it made adjusting the chain a little easier.
Ok thank you. Even the builder's manual says to disassemble the wheel, but I did not understand the reason, disassemble the wheel to replace only the sprocket, can only be done if you have a central stand that Ducati Diavel does not have.
Yeah, you don't really need to remove the wheel if you don't want to.
Need some torque values please.
Excellent video gives good insight in to doing the maintenance of the Multi, just hated the music that accompanied the demo 👍
Thanks for the feedback :-) I've got another video coming out for fitting a chain oilier. Need to change the chain and sprockets again! This bike eats them!
What size nut is that on the front sprocket please?
+oofafoo hi sorry for the late response, I'm not sure but I think it was 17mm. I've got to change them again soon so I'll let you know!
Thanks very much
oofafoo 32mm for front sprocket nut
good job
thanks for sharing
It would be so much easier if Ducati Multistrada came with drive shaft like the others 1200cc adventure bikes
Ducati Dude and no ability to change the gearing !!! 😎😎😎😎🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
Nice Video, well done! It would be a lot more helpful if you got rid of the music so that we could understand you!
How about cleaning the whole lot properly?
A very good point, I gave it a thorough clean when I hit 30,000 miles last week.
Las tuercas se desapretándolo por arte de magia ????????
Sorry but I am OCD big time when comes to cleaning
Why do you UK guys always whisper in videos?
Good video except for the dreadful music.
thnx for sharing, but he what an ugly rear sprocket you got
Ha! It's what's on the inside that counts.
Why this stupid musik?
This was my first tutorial video, it's clear I've no idea what i'm doing.
That's 1 crusty fucking bike..
Agreed, that’s what happens when you ride it 1000 miles a week.
Please no shitty "music"?
Damn !! Give me a break from the shitty rap background noise !!!😎😎😎😎😄😄😄😄😄🍺🍺🍺🍺
Spare us the ANTIFA music when making a video.
*googling ANTIFA meaning....
Militant left wing goons supported by the likes of George Soreass.. The BLM crowd etc.
ha ha! Ok someone might be reading a little too much into my music choice...lol but feel free to suggest music you like.
Perhaps none at all is the best choice.
