Yeah, could add some darker grey plates, and use slightly shorted plates around the middle, then put some plates behind with those clear/coloured 2x2 pieces for docking bays
The custom model next to the old death star 2 is probably a pretty accurate size difference since the death star 2 was considerably bigger than the first death star
I would add some dark gray for the equator. Also love how much smaller your Death Star looks in relation to the Death Star II lego put out back in the day. It's supposed to be bigger and I think this represents the size difference well.
The Death Star globe could definetly be upgraded by adding differently shaded grey tiles throughout the surface, it could help make it look more accurate and give more diversity around the texturing as well as even be able to include the trench in the quarter. Also I like how your rendition is smaller than the Death Star II set from 2005 as the two sets' sizes are comparable to the Death Stars' sizes in the movie canon. Overall awesome build!
You could use gears or balljoints in the stand to make it spin slower and add more tention, as well as installing a mechanism to spin it using a handle or something...
Looks cool! I would find some dark grey tiled pieces to try to get a nice griebling effect along with black stand and mini star destroyer connected with a clear piece like DS2 set
Scattering some light/dark bluish grey 1x1/1x2/2x2 tiles, ingots and grill pieces around the Death Star might make it look more detailed. And maybe also add a circle of 2 studs wide black tiles at the middle. Hard tell if it'll actually look good since a lot of ideas I had looks good in my mind but doesn't work in reality...
This is great, but you forgot one of the most iconic details! There’s no trench on the equator! I feel like that last detail will really make this moc that much better
1. I love it! I wondered when someone would try it. As for the stand, I was thinking of just replacing the brown elements with black. 2. I think you just convinced me to go crack the seals and build my Death Star II UCS set.
The wheels are counterweights for the difference in the plates on the pacific and opposite sides. Remove the wheels and I think it will be better balanced.
with the amount of space inside the death star, you could probably make an interior if you are into that stuff. I know that if i got my hands on this set, i would
6:20 Fun fact, the center laser doesnt come directly from the dish, but from the many lasers that come out on the sides of the dish, which I understand is hard to recreate with LEGOs
Do you reckon the middle equator plates could be replaced with two tiles towards the outer ends to create the trench? Like instead of a 6*6 plate, use two 2*6 plates towards the sides and leave some space in the middle. Or stick the two plates on a black base, if that doesn't make them stand out too much.
Actually the size between the original Death Star and the custom is accurate! As the Death Star 2 is the size of Pluto while the first Death Star is the size of the moon!
back in 2009, i had been begging my parents for MONTHS for the Lego Death Star set (with all the mini figs) and for my 9th bday, my dad surprised me after opening all my gifts, and i literally jumped out of my seat and started screaming "ITS THE LEGO DEATH STAR". I then worked on it for 4 days straight during my winter break as my bday is the day after Christmas. Never forgot all the things my dad did to surprise me. Miss you old man!
i see other people saying stuff about exterior detailing, and i agree I also think you should add little micro ships/star destroyers (whatever is to scale) to the outside, attach them with like transparent pieces like the official death star build you showed at the end
Yo mandr I really want to make this but it's hard to keep track with all the pieces and build techniques you used. Is it possible to make a parts list or a digital instruction for purchase somewhere so I and others can properly build this?
congrats you have now made Death Star 1 and 2 accurately in both design and size (obviously not in minifigure scale size, but it’s accurate to how big they are compared to eachother)
If I might make a suggestion, maybe look at the Essential Guide series for the DS1 and add some vent plating for detail, as well as to blend the Superlaser a tad better. Don't get me wrong, it looks amazing and I'd even add that the startling size difference might work in your favor since the actual DS2 is canonically nearly double that of the DS2, but the plain sphere feels bare where the actual station has varying plate sizes and almost corn rows in some areas.
You could make an equatorial trench if you put dark gray 1x6 flat pieces around the exact middle. To make it the exact middle, you could use the light gray 2x1 flat pieces with a single stud in the middle.
If you beefed up the base of a helmet series set and slid the bottom rod of the Death Star into the base, you could have a nice minimalistic stand that would be a fine addition to your collection.
If you put the laser cannon thingy opposite where the tyres are mounted inside, it should balance better. You may have to remove one or more tyres for optimal balance.
Would be cool if LEGO made a similar build for the many different planets in the star wars universe. And on the Alderaan, if you push the pin on top, it explodes
Yeah you need to completely redesign the stand. Also the sphere is too bland, maybe some tiles could add definition and features. Also the second death star of star killer base might be a better build than this one? I wonder if you can double the size? Great video, really enjoyed it!
Seeing the lego community get sponsors for some reason makes me really happy for some reason. Feels like the community is being more accepted as a genuine hobby or passion.
I think it would be awesome if it could be modified to be a smaller scale 2005 Death Star II. If some of the panels were removed and a smaller version of the exposed destroyed/under construction sections were inserted into the glob death star, and if an equator trench was added it would be a must buy set!
Mand it actually makes sense your death star is smaller since the second death star was bigger that death star 1 and you could make two stands and name each one and your two death stars are about the same size as they are in universe compared to each other
@@itzBrickKnight I didn’t originally say anything about how good/bad it looks. I just said that I wondered how it would look. But it’s literally in the thumbnail dude, so even if I did say that, it wouldn’t matter
It's actually quite fitting that it's smaller than the 2005 one, as the 2005 one was the Death Star 2 and your custom one is closer to the death star 1, witch was significantly smaller than the second one.
I think that you should replace the middle 6x6 plates with two 2x6 plates and use 2 2x6 plates with slide to create the trench, because it looks kind of strange without it
It looks decent and a good project for someone to try out. You could put a counterbalance inside with some bricks to balance it out so it wouldn't spin accidentally.
The idea is good, but really, I would have worked a little more on two points : the integration of the laser, in order to make it fit inside rather than pop out outside, and the center line... BTW, wouldn't it be possible to take the regular earth globe and add another layer of grey piece on around 2 bricks height, in order to even get the unfinished part of it? ( Just an idea... )
So cool. Imagine adding some small white/blue looking LED's to put around to act as the hangars and windows! See if you can also added some clear rods and put some micro build fighters battling it out above :p
Thanks again to Stock X for making this video possible! What should I do as my next alternate build for LEGO Star Wars?
You should make the Darth Maul Death Star from Empire Strikes Out
Bro is Mr. Sponsor now😭
Hang it from the ceiling if you take fishing string they can hand from up over you shelf dude and that would look cool
Hang it from the ceiling it would look cool give me a shout out dude !! Fishing string over the shelf ! Perfect
some old lego star wars
Looks cool- it would benefit from some exterior detailing such as the equator trench
I agree but with the scale he's working with It wouldn't look right
Yes! Would love to see a continued build with a stand in space theme maybe even connecting a tie and xwing along the trench
I was thinking the same thing
@@chasekerr9027 mabye just like flat plates that can for grooves and things

That's what I was thinking too
Same tho
I was going to say that too
Isn't the Death Star II like twice as big as the first?
With a black stand, a stormtrooper and a quote tile of "Thats no moon" it could fit very well with the diorama sets
Or as a midi-scale set. They were actually not bad; I love my midi Star Destroyer
Honestly it looks a little weird without the equatorial trench.
Ah, but you see that's when the black sharpie marker comes in ; )
But you wouldn’t… I mean that’s illegal isn’t it??😰😰

What is LEGO doing not hiring Ryan? This Death Star is something I’d totally buy.
What does that build say about Ryans quality?
They hate Ryan

Make starkiller base since it’s a big planet with a laser in the middle

hey Ryan since you did built the death star model i can see one thing missing was the trench in the set so i noticed
What a great idea! Love the results!!!!
You should’ve built the laser opposite the wheels inside the sphere. They’re in there to be a counterweight.
put lego pieces on the interior to add weight at a specific part as a counter balance, to prevent it from rotating when posistioned
amazing! i think this is your best video yet! you did a great job with the turbolaser by the way awessome build, i would kill to own that in my room
Near perfect size for the DS-1 To DS-2, In Canon the 2nd Death Star was much larger than the first.

This is the first thing I thought about when I saw the globe
Absolutely awesome. Nice work.

Now I actually want a Globe set just to make this. it Looks really cool, and I bet with more greebling and added detail it would look even better. :D

Technically the size compared to the 2005 Death Star 2 is accurate the second Death Star was Much bigger the the first.
Now do the reverse. Turn the 2005 Death Star into the Sun to go with your globe.
Wow it’s amazing how on earth are you so talented. Great job keep it up

I’m happy you did this. I had the same idea but out of laziness I waited till someone else did it. Thank you lol.
1:18 you should make it using loads of lego moters and make it massive
I knew someone would make it happen, pretty cool tbh
Dr. Evil would be proud. Taking the world and adding a giant "laser".
Yooo.. Ryan I gotta say - it’s pretty dope u got stock x as a sponsor!!! Glad to see u keep going up man!
The Death Star could benefit from a scale accurate Star Destroyers on the side and probably pop with panel line details on the surface
The Globe version of the Death Star is like the Death Star 1 compared to the 2005 set!
Great job man keep up the good work! 👍
