“The ingredients were faulty, the taste was ok” is exactly why I can’t go out to eat anymore. I always think to myself, “ I can make this better and spend 1/3 of the money” 🤪
just made pickles for the first time and im hooked, did it on my channel, because I am so excited about it. did lemons preserved.bbq auce coming I am doing hummus as soon as I make the tahini first.sorry its so cool to make your own. you are 100 % right, I cook well so well that I dont like much rest food unless im paying a fortune and I cant afford that! make your own and enjoy! just found sarah shes great!
Oh my gosh so true! After spending whack of money eating out somewhere I feel like it’s just not as satisfying as making it and eating it at home. The costs are even higher here to eat out and just the cost of food in general so finding ways to use things we can grow and learning the skills to make them is just valuable in itself, too if off with tasting better and it’s a win win win 🏆
Girl you need a spatula! You’ll love how much more product you’ll get out of your blenders and bowls and you won’t be washing product down the sink, it’s my number one kitchen tool
I started making a lot of stuff at home not even because of the ingredients in store bought stuff, it was more from me not being able to find stuff I truly liked the flavor of. So I started making my own sauces, dressings, pickles, etc. I haven’t gotten into bread yet but I do make my own pie crusts and pizza doughs but I’m determined to tackle bread in 2024
The easiest way to achieve this is with dutch oven no knead bread. It's literally impossible to mess up, super quick & simple to make, and you can add different ingredients to change up the flavor. Such a game-changer 🙌🏼
May I suggest a new spreadable? Once you mention tzatziki… you must try skordalia… it is a potato purée with lots of fresh garlic, lemon olive oil salt and peper. It is like humus but with potatoes… Greek recipe.. spread it on sourdough bread. One of the most delicious recipes that does not gain popularity… and I don’t know why. We usually eat it with fish or beat roots.
I have never heard of this but now I must try it! My husband doesn’t like hummus (but I love it) so I want to find a dip we will both enjoy. Thank you!
Oooo great recommendation! It's always a learning curve, what's worth it in either quality or expense to make vs. buy -someone who made tofu from scratch one time
I am so inspired! I live in Japan and Valentines day is a big thing here and the common here is girls give presents(chocolates and sweets) to boys and since I’m married, I just thought it would be cute to give homemade cookies to my husband; as so I did! I was so happy last night because he enjoyed my homemade cookies! he devoured it and even told me it was the best cookie he had ever tasted, way better than any cafe/shops or grocery bought cookies. I was flattered! And because of this, I want to make more for him lol not just cookies but other baked goods too!
I would love a meal planning video again. Tell us how you choose what you are going to make, specific things you might make in winter only. How you simplify cooking with your busy life of homeschooling and homemaking and your job
Hi, I’m a 21-year-old girl Commuting to college but I still live with family. I have been absolutely obsessed with baking bread! It is so much fun to need though. I’m obsessed with the texture, and it is so rewarding!
I would love to see videos related to things you wish you knew when you began your journey of being a “homemaking mama”. Your ride or die supplies in your entire home. Things you have learned yourself that maybe nobody directly taught you but it’s information that you can teach us. - a new wife! ❤
Would love to see an updated video on things you don't use for newborns, babies, children etc that are typically seen as things we "need" to have or are just the normal to have but as a minimalist you are able to do without or simplify :)
I started pickleing red onions because I like having a little for salads and sandwiches but it went bad fresh before I used it all most of the time. It's super easy to pickle things and it tastes so good!
A good tip that I have is to use numerous smaller jars that you seal with boiling water. In this way you have access only to the food that you consume right away. ❤❤❤
Love your new channel but please don't delete your old one! I still use & enjoy some of your old playlists, your sunshine energy & great ideas always bring me back up.
Lmnt seems like a contradiction to both minimalism and wholesome foods which you seem to be promoting and the reason I clicked. The small amount of electrolytes in that product are better obtained from whole foods along with the companion nutrients that nature intended. You also might want to investigate what “natural flavors” as an ingredient really means. I did really enjoy your beautiful breads and ferments.
I do pretty much all these at home too! Another one that is a lot simpler than people think is to make soups, stews, and broth at home. I use my beloved instant pot, but it's certainly doable on the stove too!
I am a bit confused because, you just talked about natural flavors which i agree aout it with you, yet you're promoting electrolytes with natural flavor?
I love this! My new goal this year is to make more things from home than I buy from the store. Please write a lifestyle/cooking/home decor book! I just loveee your videos/pictures and you would make the cutest coffee table/inspirational book! 😍
I’d love to do this but I feel like we would waste SO much food! We only have 1 kid, so for the 3 of us we would never get through the sauces and the dips and and dressings unless I made tiny amounts of them which isn’t very convenient. So not sure how to work around that
I just found your channel today & subscribed. I'm really interested in learning how to do some of the things that you mentioned & am also curious about how you do all of that without having to buy tons of gadgets. I started making fruit butters, canning tomatoes, apple sauce, stews... this year. I made a list of the items I would need to be able to preserve food when they are on sale / in season & purchased the equipment in the order it went on sale. I used to get so frustrated when I found recipes I wanted to try & was always short 1 or 2 items, so I started dehydrating common ingredients. One thing I would suggest to you would be to try growing your own tomatoes if possible. The difference in flavor is night & day. As Jessica Sowards of Roots & Refuge Farm says, " Store bought tomatoes taste like disappointment". Tomatoes are one of the easiest, most prolific things you can grow. I had so many this year I ran out of freezer space (didn't have the canners yet) & was giving them away to friends & neighbors. I would love to find community to preserve with for both social reasons & to learn from each other. Looking forward to finding healthier ways of eating & living more minimally. I just saw that you're Canadian as well! I'm in Windsor Ontario.
Yes, yes, yes! Love it! I made your homemade pizza sauce from another meal video & it was amazing! I would love to know the measurements to your homemade tomato sauce 😁
The LMNT's are a total game changer! I bring them with me and give them out to everyone. I had no idea I was so low on everything. My mind is so much more efficient now!
Pro home cooks does a lot of fermenting and the brother of the guy who runs the channel just wrote a book about fermentation. It is in my amazon cart so i cant say for sure that the recipes are fabulous but ive watched that channel for years and they havent steered me wrong with advice or learning opportunities and confidence in the kitchen so im sure it is great. But it is a resource from guys who are passionate about home cooking and fermenting.
I love this video Sarah! 💖 So relaxing and informative. The LORD used you to introduce me to the principles of minimalism back in September 2020 and it truly changed my life! I loved hearing how you apply those same principles in the kitchen. 💖 Thank you and God bless you and your family! Colossians 3:17 💖 P.S. Your hairstyle is ADORABLE! 🤩
We’re so into minimalism. I LOVE your approach to sourdough recipes. Anyone else I would watch, everything about the process seemed too complicated. You’re the first one that make it seem so easy and effortless and I’ve tried so many of your recipes and they’re so awesome!
These are my most favourite videos to watch ever ! All things homemaking and how I can better myself in my own home and family ! Would love to know a breakdown of how long each thing lasts in in the fridge before going bad that you mentioned here ❤️
As a Turk, living in Germany, I am shocked that it is still „special“ in the US, to make homemade bread, etc. Both in German and Turkish culture, it is normal to make things at home.
Hi Sarah, lovely video. Love your videos and concept of making condiments and some items at home. I have started to make some condiments at home and realized how few ingredients and effort it takes. I sure don’t want all this additives. I am planning to make bread now, Can you please tell me the brand of your bread maker. Is the interior also stainless steel or nonstick?
You don’t need to say “ I know what’s in it” multiple times. Repetition can be an effective tool to get your point across but excessive use makes it redundant and distracting.
I have one question, how much this stuff can be in the fridge? How you know the expiration date? Because I was think about to do it at home but I’m scared about the stuff go bad at my fridge because is just me and my husband and we don’t eat too much at home.
Specifically for the condiments, did you notice if you had to spend more $ up front to have all the necessary ingredients on hand? Just curious. Most of the ingredients used to make these things are stuff I don’t buy regularly or keep in our home so I’m curious if cost wise it balances out or is close to the same? I do love the idea of know every ingredient going into a product though 😊
Making your own bread tastes better than the storebought ones too! I have only been baking for a little over a year now and bake every week now. One day I'll master sourdough like you. Great job on saving money with your baking and cooking. :)
I'm so glad your back doing videos I hope you keep it simple and keep the pressure off yourself so you can continue to make videos without burning yourself out xx😊
I am grateful to you cause you were the first person to introduce natural birth in a it’s possible light and what homemaking can look like. Now all I really want to consume and emulate on the internet are similar accounts to you. So thank you!!
This year, I'm trying to make more food at home that I want from restaurants. Because when I get my order, the taste is not so wow like I expected it to be, something changed after cov*d .
Thank you. I wondered that, too. And, if they are washed and put back into the container, the labels should be removed before washing--bacteria and pesticides can hide under those labels--and inside the original container, too!
$2/loaf sounds a bit expensive. The flour is ~$0.20-0.50 for ~1lbs depending on the bulk at which it's bought, and the over electricity would be in the order of ~$0.10s.
Nowadays, it really feels like the more reliant we are on store-bought convenience foods, the more of our own agency we lose, and the more power we give to companies that are usually more concerned with their profit margins than our health or even tastes. We become helpless against all the dirty tricks that they use to increase their own profits, like shrink-flation (decreasing the amount of product, but keeping the price the same), and skimp-flation (changing their recipes so that they use more of the cheaper/lower quality ingredients and less of the more expensive/higher quality ingredients). And then we as consumers are left wondering why a product we used to like no longer lasts as long as it used to, or doesn't taste the same as we remember. We can't make everything ourselves. There are some things that are just too complicated, time consuming or costly to make at home. But there are lots of things that are simple, easy, cost less or just taste better when homemade. And we take some of our power back when we learn how to make them ourselves. My husband has been making our own bread for many years, and it tastes so much better than store-bought. I recently started making my own chickpea milk, because the store-bought stuff is so often sold out and is ridiculously expensive when it is in stock (about $6 CAD a litre). A 100g bag of dried chickpeas will cost me about the same, but I can make about 10 litres of chickpea milk from it. Correction: It's actually 10 litres of chickpea milk from 907g of dried chickpeas, at a cost of $3.49 CAD. So, even less expensive than I originally stated.
I make a sourdough boule weekly and have done a breakdown of costs. $0.56 for the flour, $0.02 for salt, not including costs for starter which is about $0.03. Total to make a loaf is $0.61 much less than a $6 at a store. I don't buy any breads including pita, tortillas etc. All of my condiments as well and quick pickles. This year I have gotten into fresh cheeses such as cottage, ricotta, yogurt. I just did my first Feta and am going to make mozzarella this week.
I loove making food from scratch. Part of it as what you mentioned the food you buy in thr supermarket they add a bunch of ingredients that you never heard of and they add bunch of unnecessary sugars and salt. So I rather make it by myself so at least I know what’s in it. Unfortunately, I live alone so for example mayo, I don’t make it as I can’t finish it all by myself in a short period of time.
I've literally never seen sucralose in pickles or hummus at the store. Is this a Canadian thing? I'm sincerely curious. Other less than ideal ingredients for sure (artificial colors, etc.) but never sucralose. So interesting.
Sarah! With you having slight hand pain and arthritis, and aching knees etc you should DEFINITELY check out if you may have a gluten allergy! You’re so good at making bread, do you think your intake has went up over the last few years?! I know some people can have debilitating arthritis and need walkers by the age of 70 because of an unknown gluten allergy! Look into it! I love your content so much and hope that could help! ❤
Hi Sara, thank you so much for this great video!🥰, I do have couple of Questions How did you store your Hummas and Pasta sauce bec these two spoils so fast!! and I wanna make them at home
The one good loaf I can buy is now$6.50. I just ordered Sunrise flour. I’m making my own bread. I buy organic flour. The bread dough is versatile and more nutritious than store bought. 😊
Thank you for sharing! It’s crazy how much society has taught us to go buy all ready made products. It’s actually pretty easy, healthier, cheaper, and kind of fun to do it yourself. I’ve slowly been making more things at home and my mind has been blown with what I can actually create myself!
Please please please can anyone help me with how making the bread smells good and to have color without it dry , i taught my self to make bread and have no guidance to ask , so please if anyone can give me advice for that , like all what i can smell is the yeast or no yumy bread smell
Is this bread al sourdough then or do you also make yeast breads? I still prefer yeast over sourdough and we don't have any intollerances or allergies in our family
I love your haircut so much that I have decided to do the same, copy your style! Please do a video telling us about your faith journey, your testimony, was your husband also Christian when you met? Your videos give me energy and inspiration, thank you and do them more often! Please do a tour of your whole house, I love seeing interiors!
“The ingredients were faulty, the taste was ok” is exactly why I can’t go out to eat anymore. I always think to myself, “ I can make this better and spend 1/3 of the money” 🤪

I got into making bread with the peasant bread recipe. I was so intimidated by making bread before but that recipe as a loaf is so easy!
Careful, it's addictive 😂
@@taleagrisetathis right here. It is so simple, and absolutely delicious.

Off to google that!
Oh my gosh that sounds delicious!!
Just got the book Bake the Bread Buy the Butter and it’s a great recipe guide on what’s worth making from scratch and what isn’t

I would be curious to know about shelf life for these types of items

Your sponsorships are just not really aligned in with the stuff you preach
LMNT is very chemical free
My homade bread gets hard and stale overnight... What am I doing wrong??
I put mine in a plastic bag and it lasts for days, better if it's sealable.
The LMNT's are a total game changer! I bring them with me and give them out to everyone. I had no idea I was so low on everything. My mind is so much more efficient now!

They do good work.
Started nicely and then you lost me when you added powder to the water you drink
Just saw your video!! Really glad you’re back on you tube!!

Ok Wow. First time here, and I'm only like a minute in, but I just gotta say it. You are _✨STUNNING!✨_ 😲 gonna watch the video now!
LMNT???? Oh my gosh I sell this! And I'm seeing more of my favorite influencers talking about it! So cool
I just bought a jar of pickled ginger & had to throw it out because it has a LEAD WARNING on it. One of the ingredients was LEAD!!!
We’re so into minimalism. I LOVE your approach to sourdough recipes. Anyone else I would watch, everything about the process seemed too complicated. You’re the first one that make it seem so easy and effortless and I’ve tried so many of your recipes and they’re so awesome!
Lisa from Farmhouse on Boone has a ton of great bread / sourdough recipes as well, very easy!
I make my own peanut butter. It’s literally just dry roasted peanuts, and friction. I run the peanuts through the vitamix until it gets creamy.
Hello from Texas..what a lovely channel. I'm so glad that this video popped up and now I'm a new subscriber. Thanks Sarah.
Hey girl! You once posted a chocolate cookie recipe using Garbanzo flour- any chance you can share it once again? Thank you ♥️
We make everything at home, we also buy food directly from the farm. Oh, and maple sugar is amazing for baking.
You don’t need to say “ I know what’s in it” multiple times. Repetition can be an effective tool to get your point across but excessive use makes it redundant and distracting.
Do you still keep your house pretty minimal. You're the first person I saw that own less, and I started my minimalist journey right afterwards.
I have one question, how much this stuff can be in the fridge? How you know the expiration date? Because I was think about to do it at home but I’m scared about the stuff go bad at my fridge because is just me and my husband and we don’t eat too much at home.
you had me until you put peanut butter into hummus - a jar of tahini will last you WEEKS in the fridge and will give you authentic hummus
Great job on saving money with your baking and cooking. :)
You have a beautiful home Sarah… would be awesome for you to grow a garden :)
Do you bake with Einkorn? I make Einkorn baked goods and Einkorn sourdough bread. Einkorn is very nutritious.
I LOVE LMNT!! So cool that you're working with them :)
Where do you get the lids that go over your jars?? They look like silicone?? Thanks ❤❤
Peanut butter in hummus?! Good for you but not authentic
I dont undestand where are your kids when you do all this stuff, iam a homemaker with three kids and i got caos 😂 amazing how much god bless you ❤
I'm so glad your back doing videos I hope you keep it simple and keep the pressure off yourself so you can continue to make videos without burning yourself out xx😊
i dont have a toaster....i toast in cast iron pan....try to avoid one-use items ....but...have small home lol
Bread is my favorite food! I had to stop eating all grains because of my health 😢 I do enjoy watching people make it through.
I would love so see more videos on sourdough starters and bread recipes 🙋♀️
Ooooh have you written a book about this? I rould definitely buy!!
Hello, can I ask where your apron is from? It’s adorable on you.
I am grateful to you cause you were the first person to introduce natural birth in a it’s possible light and what homemaking can look like. Now all I really want to consume and emulate on the internet are similar accounts to you. So thank you!!
Not a homemaker but I always enjoyed your channel.
Ahhh! I have been waiting for this kind of video! This is my New Years resolution! I have bread rising in the oven right now!
I have a bread machine. So much less effort, and we have fresh bread
This year, I'm trying to make more food at home that I want from restaurants. Because when I get my order, the taste is not so wow like I expected it to be, something changed after cov*d .
During the lockdowns it happened
Big reset happened during the tyranny
I noticed the stickers on your tomatoes. Do you not wash them before using?
Thank you. I wondered that, too. And, if they are washed and put back into the container, the labels should be removed before washing--bacteria and pesticides can hide under those labels--and inside the original container, too!
I have that same toaster. Minimalist or not, it belongs on the counter!
Please keep Palestine in your prayers 🤍
🇵🇸
Oh shoot! The bread segment reminded me I forgot to feed my starter today!
Yogurt. Greek yogurt. Easy and better tasting.
Wait, 100g bag of chickpeas is $6?? 🤯
Oops, my mistake. It's $3.49 for 907g 😅
I love your apron. What is the style called?
I’m new to your channel..I have learned that most things can be made at home from scratch including LMNT for Pennie’s ..just saying.
So sad frying sounds added to pronounced words. Nooo.
I would love to learn your ways! Lol. Please make a video on making condiments (or many videos).😊
This Is a new kind OF sad baige mayonaisse at home mom
lol this is me for probably 15 years now 😂
This video was so so so good!! Incredibly helpful and inspiring 🤩🙏 love your videos and your beautiful home and cooking inspiration!
I'm really happy for you that you are able to do all of that as homemaker thanks to being content creator. I wish more people had this opportunity

At first I thought Sarah had hired q editor because her voice was different but then I realized she was sick 😂

So true about the appliances! I always feel like every new recipie I need to get a new tool 😅I would love to but I don’t have the space or money
Thank you for sharing!
It’s crazy how much society has taught us to go buy all ready made products. It’s actually pretty easy, healthier, cheaper, and kind of fun to do it yourself. I’ve slowly been making more things at home and my mind has been blown with what I can actually create myself!
You are so enjoyable to watch. Have you considered doing a whole food cooking segments? Would LOVE!
When I bake bread I bake 3 and freeze 2 for later. Cuts down on electric use. Still tastes fresh.
With 5 kids I wonder how you organize and keep toys minimal! Would love a video talking about that :)
