Dave is always a great teacher, but this was possibly his most confident and concise! I love this game and this play-through was a total delight to watch!
We LOVE this game... travel size, we take it on trips, quick fun game. We still have to refer to the cheat sheet to remind us what the boats, fish and sharks do.
SS&P is one of the best small deck games out there but it really shines at 2 players. 4 is still fun but too chaotic. At 2 it's a real knife fight in a phone booth.
At around 17:20 didn't Lincoln discard the Shark he picked up in a previous turn. If so that's wrong you can only discard one of the two you have just drawn. Unless he drew the shark and meant its the same as one he drew earlier so he didn't want two.😊
This is a very aggressive game, although you wouldn't know it at first glance and I really wanted to see how the gang would play it. Way too cool for how I feel when I play :)))
This Video was so much fun to watch, it made me order the game immediately. I love watching you play. What happened to the 2 Player Game Video with Nikki and Lincoln? Greetings from Germany.
Octopuses. I know, don’t hate me. But, I recall this came up in another game review video years and years ago! Not sure why it stuck with me. Love the videos, I’ll be quiet now.
Guys, I'm super confused in ss&p about scoring the colours/mermaids. 1. I thought mermaids were always a point in themselves 2. When I have a mermaid I essentially score my highest colour twice? Like first as my regular points from the cards (mer. Aid bonus) and then again the general colour bonus? 3. Just to reassure, the colour points are not counted yet when it's about scoring last chance, right? Thanks for a great video 👌
The rules aren't really clear. Mermaids always score as a color bonus (run) and they can never duplicate colors. They are white, so they could be part of a run, but that is more rare. You only score a color bonus when the rules say so. STOP: everyone score your cards, no color bonus LAST CHANCE + WIN: You score your cards + color bonus / opponents score color bonus LAST CHANCE + LOSE: You only score your color bonus / opponents score cards
I think we used Scorekeeper XL but you should check out Rusty's version of it here: www.dxsol3.com/skm/ . It is a redo of sorts of Scorekeeper with lots of quality of life improvements since the app stopped development years ago. Thanks for the note and for watching. -Lincoln
Crazy to have two games end with the mermaids! Guess part of it came from your reluctance to use the sharks. They are there to balance strats like those. The last game, for example, Mike had a pair of shark and swimmer and didn't use them. If he had, and happened to have used them on Dave, he likely would have taken one of the 3 mermaids and kept the game going.
I never played it with scoring duos in your hand that you didn't lay down to the table to play. i don't see that rule anywhere in the book are you sure this is correct? Also I don't see where it says you cant steal from another players hand with a shark and swimmer once they've played their last chance.
Is Lincoln using an app for scoring? I checked, and I couldn't find an official Sea Salt & Paper app for scoring. I'd love to start using the same app that Lincoln's using.
@JonHook I am using the Scorekeeper XL app here. It hasn't been updated in years. You can check out Rusty's free web version update of the app here: Scorekeeper Mega: www.dxsol3.com/skm/ It does not use the sounds like the original app. -Lincoln
Love your vids! 1 small thing: I feel like the camera on Nikki and Dave is usually aimed a bit too much to the right. Maybe line up the right edge with the edge of Nikki's chair.
It happens. This was not the first game we shot and there was a teacher change so the seats moved. We really try to keep everything framed well but we do it from our seats so it's more of a challenge. Thanks for the note and for watching! -Lincoln
We feel the mermaid is still unclear. Three black cards score three for the color bonus. If the mermaid is worth three, as that is the greatest color is the score six? Three for the three black and a three point mermaid card?
My guess is: it’s like if you have 2 mermaid cards in your hand. It’s the next highest count color is how many points you get for the one mermaid card you played after winning last chance
It was hard to tell if you guys were doing this, when you pick up 2 cards YOU MUST DISCARD 1 OF THE ONES YOU JUST PICKED UP, NOT ANY OTHER ONE FROM YOUR HAND 😊

I can't believe the mermaid thing, Nicky had such a head start. And now I've come back after watching the rest of it, and WOW, just, WOW.
Love this game. Learned this week at my sister's place. She has the expansion. Must have!
@17:38 Lincoln's eye roll informs the viewer that he's not happy with Mike's decision 😂😂
Priceless
He loves playing games.

We take this game into every restaurant / bar and play all the time as a family.
You explain perfectly! Thank you!

Me and my seven year old loves this game, I think the expansion card pack adds to the fun too, the lobster card is OP
Yeah ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you 🥰 🇺🇸🇩🇪
Dave mentions how he hasn't gotten any mermaids all game than gets four. No more long sleeves at the table lol!
This is a very aggressive game, although you wouldn't know it at first glance and I really wanted to see how the gang would play it.
Way too cool for how I feel when I play :)))
I have played this over 50 times and only seen what occurred in this game once!
3 times now!
😄
For people who are colorblind like me , this game is one that has small symbols to identify color so no need to fear. You will enjoy this game.
Can’t believe I’ve been dismissing this game, it looks really fun
I've played this SO many times and yet I never got 4 mermaids. This is nuts!
Right?
First time I played it: 4 mermaids xD
This is a great game. My copy didn't come with the duo card guides though 😢
This Video was so much fun to watch, it made me order the game immediately. I love watching you play.

❤❤❤
Do you still get your played duo points if someone wins a last call?
I've never seen someone so disappointed in winning in my life ... lolol
It was a really interesting discussion.
what's the card dispenser they are using in the video?

Andrew, the scoring thing is under the big heading CARD DETAILS (after the END OF GAME heading). And the stealing thing is covered under LAST CHANCE.
Sharks ARE fish, Dave. Lol
Cool game. I play this solo only.

Boardgamestats also has scoring cards for many games, including this one.

Linc, why are you upset until 23m? :D Was that hand a foot? :D
Most likely! Thanks for the note and for watching. -Lincoln
17:26 Lincoln discards the shark he took earlier, that's not allowed ;) and Nikki didn't play her fishes thats weird too.
I wish them all the financial success, but i hope the next sponsors arent honey and engine oil or that deck is really going to get hard to handle
Octopuses Dave, not octopi. Good teach though

Yes, we were, but I'll make sure people do that!
I'm probably in the minority here - and I do love you guys! - but I'm not sure this game lends itself well to a playthrough. Not much going on.
