    If you're in a hospital and hooked to an IV, can you still be considered a "wireless" expert?

      lol funny enough I’ve worked on a lot of wireless (from a data transfer POV) infusion pumps and patient monitors

    I don't think this is a body worn device if its shape is basically a cube (the 76mm read distance suggests that). It might be something you hold in your hand, probably a gadget for party games.

    • @RemotePlayPodcast
      @RemotePlayPodcast  6 дней назад +3

      Yeah, I've been thinking about this a lot. The distance from the radio to the edge of the device is kind of a lot right? 76mm is pretty big. I need to do some mock ups of what this would look like. I'll have time tomorrow at some point. Good line of thinking! I would be so surprised to see some cube you just hold and walk around with or shake or something, but that would also be so on brand for Nintendo lol --Mark

    This sounds like a clip on that will likely be affixed to the back collar of shirt. Two uses straight off, immersive surround sound at home or on the go. And glasses free 3d at home or on the go. Nintendo has prior patents for a collar surround sound device. The puck looks like a sleeker design. The wearable device doing the tracking rather than the system sounds similar in premise to a RUclipsr who put the Wii sensor bar on a headset in order to create true 3d effect. Could the other unknown testing have a audio component to it?

  • @mrkrmyers
    @mrkrmyers 6 дней назад +1

    Most gyroscope games are missing forwards and backwards depth tracking. We have just bought a lot of LABO VR sets and something jarring is that moving your hand is ALMOST perfect but one thing is missing - movement on the z axis. This tech would fulfill this.

    This is a bit of a wild-card idea inspired by their previous discussions on ‘quality of life’ applications: what about something that tracks sleep? If it somehow connected to the mattress or the bedcovers?

    So you and I can agree that this device is nintendo using radar or or maybe sonar for motion controls. I did not anticipate that they have you where on the body. I thought it would be sitting next to your switch and it would bounce wireless waves around your bedroom and off the player to map the the players out silhouette. Kinda like the microsoft kinect tracking the entire body but using radio waves instead a ir dept camera. All in all good video.

  • @everygamersdream72
    @everygamersdream72 5 дней назад

    Could it have been tested near the body just for safetys sake? Doesnt mean its on the body perhaps. Just seems like a 2" x 2 " x 2" cube would be hard to wear.

    A player tracker like this could work in conjunction with Labo VR glasses to stop players from walking into walls and objects.

      Oh, thats kind of interesting. I guess I never even thought about yet another thing attaching to this. I don't think this will be with the joycon necessarily since its going to be close to the body, but you have opened a new line of thinking for me! Thanks! --Mark

    I think that puck device will be used to refine the position detection of the new type of Joy Con. The current Joy Con relies solely on in-built gyros and need constant recalibrating during gameplay. This new device mirrors the sensor bar of the old Wii that always accurately tracks the WiiMote in real-time.

    • @RemotePlayPodcast
      @RemotePlayPodcast  6 дней назад +5

      Yeah, I like the idea of this working in conjunction with the new joycon, the switch 2, and maybe even another accessory to give ultra accurate tracking and interaction. It's totally up Nintendo's alley to do something that gets players moving or more involved. -- Mark

      this reminds me a bit of the wii motionplus (another cube-shaped peripheral!) and would also support the notion that switch 1 controllers could be compatible with the new hardware even with potential improvements to motion tracking

    I don't think it's worn, because page 12 of test report 15375714H-C-R1 has it connected to an external debug board via USB. That leads me to believe this is very simple internally and depends on an external device to function.

    • @RemotePlayPodcast
      @RemotePlayPodcast  7 дней назад +4

      Hey! So don’t be mislead by that. That’s required to test the device, and any device really that goes through certifications testing. The EUT (equipment under test) is not just turned on like a normal use case. You are required to put it into “test mode” which is available through the wireless radio firmware. This is done through the debug boards or a laptop (depending on the device). Then in that mode you transmit it at various power levels and frequencies to verify that the equipment is faulty, out of scope, or dangerous to humans or radar/aircraft/etc. So this is totally normal, don’t be mislead by the debug board. - Mark

      @@RemotePlayPodcast Why not use the onboard microprocessor for that if it has one?

    • @RemotePlayPodcast
      @RemotePlayPodcast  6 дней назад +2

      Great question. It really just depends on how they have the device set up and if it’s complete from an engineering standpoint. It’s possible the MPU was ready to drive the Wi-Fi chip but not the 24GHz transceiver or vice versa. I’m going to read over the docs again to see if I can infer anything! -Mark
