With the release of the Platinum Expansion on November 15th, I thought I’d have a look at the new contract types added. What is required? How do you complete them? What pitfalls should we avoid? Selling the deadwood is barely worth the work loading and transporting the logs, you only get like 50 liters of wood per tree.
Totally not worth it
Do you get more if you chip them? Haven't tried this yet🤔
@@gtrulez Haven't tried, but I doubt it since the ammount of chips is based on how much wood you have.

I was getting full volume for deadwood logs on my livestream yesterday - putting them into the wood turning shop and into a mod sawmill (Farm Sawmill by The Lort)
With the transport contracts, my guess the damaging trees means not to cut them up in smaller pieces. Never managed to damage any trees in FS even with my brute force loading lol

Deadwoods don't make enough money or raw material for production chains. Not worth your loading and transporting time :/
I wish giants and other games would stop locking stuff behind map walls, because that is like new game play but only that map, it be something cool to do to pass the non harvestable time on other maps that have logging areas if you have plantium expansion pack or if you bought the game with platium expansion either way the other maps loose out on that gameplay.
@MrSealyP - Paul, when doing deadwood contracts, do not sell the logs - you get around 1% (ONE percent) of the price you'd get for livewood logs. Instead, put the deadwood logs into your production buildings and you'll get 100% of the volume of wood in the production's store. Also do not woodchip deadwood - you only get 10% of the price.
I really hope you do a full "New Mods" review for the new equipment in the expansion. You always find the interesting parts of new mods that cause me to try them out when normally I would just pass them by. You need to try the Pfanzelt PM Trac III with the Pfanzelt trailer that has adjustable length, it is a perfect pair.
Why everyone have allready done it... all his reviews and guides are now totaly worthless becuse they are so laye

I never noticed the red circles on the map, I was running around the whole 'farmlands' like a mad man.
Nov. 15, 2022 It's so good to see you having such a good time on Silver Run. 😀 You sound like a kid at Christmas!! I'm sure you've found out by now, since you're doing Deadwood contracts, that if you do decide to sell the Deadwood trees you've cut down, you only get about $2 a tree, if you're lucky. You would think that since Giants gives the option to sell them, that they would have been a little more generous with the amount you get. I am enjoying your Silver Run videos very much. Wow, I haven't had a deadwood contract yet, but that amount of money wouldn't even cover the fuel I've used. LOL.
Maybe someone could do a mod increasing pay for deadwood. When you supply deadwood to production they're treated as mostly air as well.
@@Ivellios23 don't mind the price of them, but it would be nice if they were useful for production at least! Even if it was only for wood chips
I thought it was a bug when after spending 30 minutes loading a truck full of deadwood I got like 20 bucks when I tried to sell them. But it makes sense, right? I just think they shouldn't advertise this mechanic as much as they do, implying they are minimally worth it. Those contracts are worth if you do them quickly, without trying to sell the trees.
@@mocodalavanderia3507 i mean, sure its probably not worth selling as logs, since its deadwood, but should yield a decent amount of woodchips, or like, could be made into good firewood or something. It being worthless doesnt feel right
Finally so good to see proper Volvo loaders in the game as a person that operates a log loader and grab unloading and loading trucks everyday this map is going to be so relaxing and yes that l200h with the hilift grab is huge in real life keep up the good work Mr selap
Mild correction: There are occasionally deadwoods OUTSIDE the red circle that are marked. There will be no ! marked trees close to the circle that _should not_ be cut, so you just toss a little salt over your shoulder and chop away if they're just outside the red circle. No need to trim, segment or remove them or even the stumps. If you have Lumberjack (has a new meters-left/meters-right measurement to the ends!) you can just Red Disk'o'Delete em on the deadwood missions.
Deadwood missions are SOO much easier if you buy the land, chop and sell all the trees then sell the land... XD
im thankful for you pointing out, which trees to cut. i typically watch a video on new dlc so i'll know the 411 on to sort it all out.
Maybe we can pick up the rocks with the forage pickup!? It allows straw as you know, and it can pickup rocks, give it a go.
4 per cable. For realism always point the hydraulic hammer point away from you. Those stone fragments hurt like hell; I don't know from experience, but my father does. Stone fragment went flying through the front window of the excavator he was using a jackhammer on, and it took him square in the forehead left a nasty cut and a bruise. A 8-hour day of breaking rocks with it shortened the hammer point by 6 inches. The one on your skid steer has tilt action on it.
Just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue as me. When doing the new type of contracts I don’t seem to be getting a location on the map. I’ve tried all of them and no icons or red circles appear? Any ideas? Thanks
Sorted it, if anyone else has this issue it’s enabling the contracts filter on the map view.

I'm not getting any circles
The mirrors in the dlc vehicles actually work, you can see the AI vehicles following you,
How does one manage to find them. I only had to remove or fall 6 tree's. And after taking a real life hour to do 5 spent another half hour looking for the sixth, and finally just gave up.
Contracts are kind of useless on this expansion. You make crazy money selling containers full of wood.
I'm on console and have to say you most definitely NEED that winch.
Being able to drag them out and put them in a straight line is so handy it's not even funny. Lol
I use the harvester to drag them out to where I'm loading up before I cut it up, it don't need to be straight if I'm using the auto load containers

What happens if you mulch the deadwood trees and sell the wood chips?
When woodchipped, you only get around 10% of the current price for livewood woodchips. (I showed that on my livestream yesterday)
I got £28 from 12 deadwood trees cut down in a contract. not worth collecting!
Don’t forget auto load trailers are only available if you buy the expansion
Haha, if you've spent a few days on a jackhammer you might not think the sound is so great. If you have a chisel point you can certainly drift along a cut while hammering.

Great video as always. I did some testing of my own to see what would happen if you took logs from a transport job to the old saw mill whilst you own it.... don't do it!! wasted 15 minutes of my life 🤣
Leaving deadwood trees standing is actually better for the ecosystem of the forest, as they encourage insects and other creepy crawlies which in turn encourage the animals that feed on them, like woodpeckers for example
Damage logs? Well you can cut them into smaller pieces with chainsaw, but that is the only way you can damage them, unless they have actually added a feature.
Dead trees arent worth selling or chipping... From what ive seen, Seqouias are also about half worthless.
On PS5. When I select any job, it does not appear on map. Anyone else?

It's really unfortunate that the Deadwood contracts are so tedious yet barely reward the player with any money from the contract and selling the trees.
deadwood contracts it's not worth the extra money taking the time to cut them up, delimb, stack, and sell them.
I had a contract for 12 trees only found 11 and the other one was not there. This happen to anyone else?
Found if you do area 28 … Yarder with tractor with wince if you look at tree says dead wood
How do get the red circle im on a deadwood contract and there isn't one to tell me where to go

That fine for the wrong tree is per tree, so you can end up in the red and getting nothing. The rock is like straw on the field, you need a mod to pick up contract items, I was surprised about the trees but deadwood isn't really worth enough to pick it up unless you are desperate. I found the lack of animal dealer strange as well since you need cloth to make sails for the boat yard, guess there is always cotton but sheep are cheaper to do. It's going to be a crazy week with American truck simulator releasing Texas the same day FS releases Platinum....lol. Loved your info share. Blessings.
You can still buy the sheep but you'll have to pay to get them delivered. No big deal really. I never actually went to the animal dealer anyways so it doesn't change anything for me. Lol
The deadwood trees are okay for dropping off at your smaller productions.
@@Adam-tp6ch Even for small productions your time is better spent cuting 1 proper tree and get 10 times the wood you'd get from the deadwood contract

No trailer as of yet but u can put near a container and they autoload
I’m still waiting on the PS5 version to be available in North America! What I did hear though is that the deadwood isn’t worth much money. I am curious if it has value in production chains though?

The really big trees I can’t seem to harvest with a machine? Also none of the winches attach to the wood🤷♂️ what am I doing wrong… just says object to heavy even though I keep cutting it down.. 1tonne and it still won’t do it
Gotta grab the winch cable first, if it says to heavy you don't have it in your hand, get close to the winch not click L3
Most tree harvesters can only handle a diameter of 60-80 cm, anything biger you need to do manually. There is one that can take all the way up to 120 cm, but it cost 750K, even that probably won't take the largest trees.
Nothing will cut the giant sicoya or red pine only a chainsaw.

If theres no animal dealer then how do you get the wool for the cat trees?
As he mentioned in the video you have to pay the delivery fee to get animals, you just can't go pick them up yourself.

I'm NOT getting these red circles in ANY of my contracts, that indicate the area where the wood is to be found -- As a result of that, I have to plow through the hole logging-area(25 i pretty big, too be randomly looking for dead trees!!) - I'm so frustrated about this error ...I did not even know about any 'red circle', until i saw it in one of your videos!!

The one big thing that has kept me away from logging in Farming Simulator through the years is delimbing a fallen tree. I guess I need to get used to it. Platinum Edition looks pretty interesting.
If that's what kept you from trying logging in this game, how in the world did you farm, I mean you have to unfold the equipment, put seeds in, drive in a straight line, lol, jk
If you have a tree harvester you never needed to do that yourself, unless you went for uncompatible tree (not straight), oaks are a pain lol.
But ofc all that is even easier now with platinum, we even got auto load containers for logs now if you want to skip the loading.
@@maritimelogger1296 😄 … I just never could get the chainsaw held right to remove the limbs without it taking forever.
That's why you use a processor, don't even need to buy a chainsaw now a days lol, I cut with a buncher, either wheeled or tracked, drag out the bunches with a skidder n process the logs (delimb an cut up) on the landing or road side, depending on where I'm logging,

Hi mr P I’m on ps4 and have just took on a deadwood contract but I haven’t got a zone area marker come up so I don’t know where I’m supposed to go 🙄
Yeah me too on my first contract. Havnt tried another one yet so not sure if its a one off.
Check and make sure your map filter for contracts is on for some reason they was off for me when I started the map turning them on had the zones appear.

@@stevestubberfield3528 go into the main map (the one that shows you all crop types, growth stages, soil composition, etc) in there, using the left analog stick, change to the hotspot filter and from there push down on the left analog stick until you get to the Contracts filter (it looks like a circle with a ! Inside it) and then press X/A on it if it's off. (The contract icon should be blue if it's on)

Not only are you waay late whit this guide and then when you actualy do it you dont even make a good one. You failed to test the deadwood prices. They are worthless to keep for seeling or anything. Dont make guides for things you dont know. Thats common sense.
Don't blame MrSealyP for his timing - GIANTS only early released the PC version to content creators, and MrSealyP is console-only.
