Remembering R.D. Burman on his birth anniversary of June 27th, 1939. R.D. Burman in conversation with Shushma Datt. A 1972 interview from the BBC Archives.
First of all it is real verified interview and voice of Pancham Da, it was his initial days of his career progression, a well articulated interview, frank, candid and speaking from his bottom of his heart, later he went on to become a legend, after Shanker-Jaikishan & Madan Mohan, it was Pancham Da who made is mark in film music composition which he took that to next level, his music was distinct, sound management was excellent with beautiful orchestration and fine situational background music.. I think he was ahead of his times and delivered gems from time to time, he is being heard and enjoyed by masses and would remain relevant for the years to come, my floral tributes to our most accomplished music arranger, musician, composer & music director of the millennium. Love you Pancham Da❤
Must be radio interview. There were only a handful of TV channels back then. Certainly Pakistan and India had just one state channel and that too had only a few hour long transmission
This is not Pancham's voice , nor the style of speaking . He was not fluent in Hindi , which he told in an interview with Tabassum . That interview is available on You tube . Certainly, This is misleading
You are right, he was not such fluent & perfect in Hindi & also his voice is not matched, I am 64 years from Kolkata & familiar with his voice since his initial stage
This is young RD Burman's voice before he underwent tonsillectomy. After that his voice became very husky. Here also you can identify that he is not that much fluent in Hindi language. So, this interview is a genuine one and certainly not misleading.

I think from singing all those base songs in the 70s his voice got changed.
This is definitely not Panchamda’s original voice
Ok
So it is yours
It is - 1972 recording. His diction, language, etc is typically his own inimitable one
P A N C H A M D A
