    What about failing step 1 at the first attempt closes almost all doors for residency programs?

    thank you so much for this great video. I'm interested in research and I've done some research but each is about a different subject. I would like to know since I've not decided what speciality I want to choose, yet, should I keep my work by doing research in any subject that interests me or should I concentrate on one field like ophthalmology or oncology.

    2 two isn't a myth , actually programs prefer even a green card holder more than an IMG because sponsoring the visa will coast more 😁

    • @MalkeAsaad
      @MalkeAsaad  Год назад +6

      Sponsoring visa through ECFMG does not cost the hospital or the program anything

    How to gain a clinical experience?
    Is it okay to start after attempting and passing step 1 exam? I have done a pre cinical clerkship which comes before graduation the period of which is 1 year.

    Hi Malke, thank you so much for your content, I have a question
    When you say the programs can have a cutoff of 250, me with the step2 score of 249 😢 get really nervous! Does this mean that I will be dumped out of the interview for those programs???

    • @MalkeAsaad
      @MalkeAsaad  Год назад +1

      Each program has a different cutoff and some don't even have them. But if a program has a cutoff of 250, an applicant with 249 won't be among the applicants they see unless they have certain type of connection to the program

    So basically,
    As an IMG with just good score in step 2 and want to apply for IM I have no chance to match😁

  • @amnaehsan2642
    @amnaehsan2642 Год назад +1

    The fact you showed 250 to be the standard score is enough to depress people about their score including me. I would like to enjoy the facilities provided on the match guy website but at this point where a person is arranging money for clinical experience and else makes it difficult to have extra money invest in it. Is their another way to address our issues? and also I have got a B1/B2 visa and I cannot apply for paid positions so how can I expose myself to research? Is "research volunteer" a valid term to use? Thank you

    Please tell about the age and year of graduation?? Does it change everything?? ☹️

    • @MalkeAsaad
      @MalkeAsaad  Год назад

      Age by itself does not affect things much unless you were not doing much during gap years. Exception if someone is very old (over 50-55). But each program has their own selection criteria
