- In today’s episode of Retro Smash TV I go game hunting at one of Essex’s Largest Car Boot Sales, looking for rare Xbox 360 games and Playstation hidden gems!
What I find is stalls are now selling games for the price CEX sell them! What do you think about this?
Today was tough but I managed to find some Playstation 2 games, an Xbox 360 game that always trades in well!
How much will I make in CEX vouchers keep your eyes open for part 2 which will drop in the week!

Me and you are the same. I still have that mentality. Maybe it’s me. I just find it baffling that people who obviously do game fairs try and sell at car boot sales it’s always fodder and marketing right up. Makes no sense to me and there stalls are always full of games. Wonder why 🤔
I used to sell some games on my car boot. £1 each. Some good titles as well, but at the time i took stuff to get rid and make some space, I didnt bring it to take it home again, it was to clear out some room. If i didnt sell it i'd drop them off at the charity shop. Alot of these people are setting up like a market stall rather than a car boot, Baffles me. Thanks for the video!

But I’ve been doing this long enough now I know which stalls to go to and ones to avoid so it’s all good. It’s not my loss.
that is ridiculous bro wth, CEX prices at a car boot sale, them people selling them have gone mad! like you said THEY AINT CEX! they don't have warranty or returns or any of that, what total trash sellers. Nobody will buy from them and they will eventually learn their lesson as they should!
Some charity shops do that too, they are definitely not gonna sell much at the car boot sales, they get more money that way due to Ebay tax and postage fees.

Depends what’s being sold. If I took my pokemon and Zelda collection I reckon it would all sell at cex prices, some stuff is harder to find so when you do see it you have to pay
@Ryan-ow5qb absolutely mate. Spot on!! If it’s a rarer item and it’s in decent to very good condition crack on I say… however a lot of the games you see at the car boot sales are dealers who are just trying to sell the fodder. I always stay clear or any stall that has 100s of games and they have prices on. I know I’m not the right customer and that’s fine with me. This video is 100% not a knock on anyone trying to make money. I’m all for it. With my videos I record the moment the actions taken place so my emotions are always high. It’s what I pride myself on being real. No made up BS and often my opinions do change but I can only be me and it’s why I love my channel albeit small.

When I did my most recent rummage in my local charity shops, each shop had multiple copies of Wii Fit for £1 each, I guess those sellers didn't get any interest at the prices they wanted. Good to see that you did find a few reasonably priced items.
Wii fit are only useful to swap cases out in my opinion. What’s funny is I have 2 Wii for boards a black and a white one and neither have ever been used.

I ve only ever been to 1 Carboot and it was a waste of time I ve had far more luck online ,but just remember to ask yourself concerning the consoles , if they worked chances are that they would have taken it to cex as they still pay good money for them, keep going your luck will change, all the best.
Yeah I’m a chancer thoigh. lol. If it’s too good to be true it probably isn’t and I will fall for it. But I’ve learnt my lesson now.
I still stand by my local car boots it’s just getting harder to come out with the I made £1000 at the car boot these other RUclipsrs post out!
You stll managed to do ok there mate, Hope CEX took your Black Ops II. I actually just picked that up at lunch time there in a charity shop in a 3 £1 deal. Also got UFC Undisputed 3 and NHL 2K10 (All Xbox 360)
I only needed the NHL game so the others will be going to CEX for £12 credit.
Yeah done well in the end! Black ops2 always a good one to pickup. No idea why they still take this at such a high price. The shelves are full of them.

I would not be happy if some random stranger comes around and fiddles with my sales stuff in such manner. You would get told off.
I’m really polite and have awesome banter with people so it’s never a problem. I always tell people what I’m up to. People think it’s cool. But I can see how it could be taken the same way. Not sure if you notice but I always put things back where I found them. Thanks for the watching.
Problem is everyone can just look up prices of anything these days. Mad they think it's okay to be charging second hand retail prices at a boot fair though 😂
People tend to go to boot sales for a bargain but it’s getting a bit silly now. All knock off clothes at JD prices, people just chucking crap out a van and making a price up. Listen I’m all for making money. But know your audience

Cex charge eBay money lol, but when I sell my left over games, I normally do it a few quid under cex and usually I sell well lol
That’s the best way I think little bit under if you can get the cash amount for the voucher price your winning, it’s just harder to sell games that CEX sell under £20 and that’s where a lot of the resellers fall down

I agree on both sides, these people are selling at a price which maybe CEX prices but the warranty will not cover scratches and come on most people are looking to buy cheap to sell on otherwise why not buy all games from CEX?
I like to do both. Add to my collection and flip on. If I’m being totally honest I’d probably do the same but some games just ain’t worth it. A lot of the games that are harder to find / rarer more expensive you don’t see at the car boot. It’s the usual stuff the halos the cod’s etc. well that’s what I’ve found. I think my video is more of a discussion starter and from my perspective. I’m not expecting to find £10 trade ins at every stall for £1. If I did I’d be laughing but I’d also find it boring. Going to car boot sales recently is like playing on legendary mode!

@@retrosmashtv I agree i sometimes have done car boots to clear some dead stock and totally agree I put a box with 3 for a £1 or something and the more sort after stuff on a table but agree and no CEX prices and above on games that are available easily no, great video and will check the other now.

They do mate. But people aren’t quoting music magpie when selling cd’s or quoting we buy and car when selling their motors. They think buyers are stupid but we ain’t. We know more than them 😂

Car boots are such a mixed bag. Been a bit dejected at the last couple and then stumbled on things quite late in the day at great prices. Got myself a Dreamcast game, 2 GameCube games and 3 PS1 games for £7 today.
Totally agree about Cex prices at a car boot - the warranty and returns policy is massive. Spoke to a reseller at a car boot on Saturday who was open about knowing Cex prices and charging above, and was giving it large about how you wouldn't be able to get it from Cex at that price cos they all change 3 times a day. He tried to charge me £12 for a game Cex has at £4.
So it’s not just me. I love just rewatched this back and it’s evident I was eeked by it. But yeah I can’t stand it.

To me the best compromise is to sell games that are higher than how much cex would give u for cash or voucher but still cheaper than if u buy directly from them. This way you wont be bamboozeled by people looking to try to get them low as possible but at the same time satisfy people who are legit collectors as they still got a good deal than they would of bought from the shop.
However majority of people these days charge the same if not way above market price of their worth not only in carboots/flea markets but in charity shops as well. i have been to said shops that charge for games even more than cex and you ask like why?
It’s all part and parcel of the collecting scene. Happens in all types of collecting. We are lucky as game collectors we have CEX but toy collectors don’t have that. They just have eBay really but I’ve watched many a toy hunt at the trade shows who have said the prices were too high. It’s supply and demand. I’m a collector and I’m in no rush. The journey I’m on is a slow burner but I’ve accomplished so much. Glad I made this video because lots of really good points made in the comment as well as yours above.

@@retrosmashtv Yeah, you really dont find much good deals in both anymore but on occasion you do find something worth while. After 6 months i finally found a major good deal at one charity shop with quite a a haul.
A ps2 slim that works with 2 controllers and plugs for only 30 euros. A Selection of ps2 games at 5 euro each that are quite expensive like:
-Virtua Cop Elite Edition,
-Gunbird Special Edition,
-Pes 2011,
-Here comes the pain,
-WWE Smack vs Raw 2011
and The biggest surprise a copy of Fallout Brotherhood of Steel ps2(this one im really shocked i found it after the show aired) IT really shot up in value.
Im keeping em but it feels so satisfying to find great bargains.
I got a copy of fatal Inertia about 6 months ago on 360 from a charity shop for £2, I checked CEX before buying, they had it for sale for £8 so I bought and thought throw it in the collection being quite an obscure game. About a month ago I checked CEX on the same game after listening to a collector on RUclips regarding the xbox store closing and 360 game prices on the rise, the price on CEX was £10, I was looking again this weekend and they have it listed for £38 and out of stock. There are other CEX games that are not in line with true value ebay prices but seem to be selling out quite fast. The 360 game 'Wet' is about to do the same, so get a copy if you can soon, again sold out on CEX, only £8 but very expensive on ebay.
Wet has gone mental crazy on the price. Is this due to the store closing?
what is up in certain videos where there’s like green and purple lines around different parts of the screen or on your face at the start of the video? Plus I have noticed when you shout “ LET’S GO ! “ the screen then fills up with those colours again, what’s that supposed to represent? Feels like those times in a video game where the character is drunk or taken some drugs or something 😂
It’s an effect mate. The channel is called retro smash tv. So I used the retro tv part and have a static tv into, once that fades I then use a glitch effect over true talking. It’s intentional
When I shout let’s go - again that’s another affect to emphasise the let’s go part!

It’s a madness and I bet it was so badly scratched you couldn’t play it. Same round my way usually. Sometimes you get lucky but most of the time you don’t. Us RUclipsrs have glorified it so as much as I’m moaning I’m also part of the problem

I bet this was right up the top where they were selling out of a van. They had loads but asking silly money so obviously I wasn’t the right customer for them. But that is a sick find!

@@blms1305 thanks man, not sure if you know but this whole channel is recorded, and edited using my old iPhone 11. I think the newer devices have slightly different settings so when it sounds ok to me. It’s not for others. I can only apologise for the experience but this is the type of feedback I appreciate so I don’t keep making the same mistakes. It’s very trial and error. I wished I had the fancy software and hardware others have but I’m just doing this off an old iPhone 11. Sorry man hope it don’t put you off my little channel

Have you not thought about installing evilnat Cfw on your PS3 with a broken disk drive?
To be honest I’ve no idea what that is. Would that turn it into an emulator? I don’t have the facilities to do that. My work laptop is proetected like fort nox
You do most of the soft mod on the PS3 it's self it took me an hour or something like that it will allow you to play games from a usb\hdd there are a few downloads you need though

Chris if the Xenia game is copy its the best copied game I seen
It’s just the Xenia logo looks a bit blurred to me. But it’s on a black disc so looks legit. I’m just not so sure

Recorded, edited via an old iPhone 11. It’s now on its last legs so when it sounds ok after I’ve edited it seems it actually not. The mics actually broken on my phone now and it’s gonna cost a small fortune to upgrade all my hardware so decisions may need to be made on the future of the channel. I can’t keep putting shit out.
