The quilt race with Kim was fun. I went back and watched it all. A color that I find hard to incorporate is yellow. It is my favorite color, but I not sure I use it effectively in my quilting. Lots of fun videos. Congrats on 3000 subscribers!
@@TheGuyWhoSews about 20 years ago I got a request for a teal and orange baby quilt. That was not easy to even find those colors. But it did turn out beautiful
G'day Louise! Im hoping to get the monkey done this week. I had planned on doing it Sunday night but my trusty iron died so waiting on the new one to arrive.
I love your heart block!! You did a great job on it!! So fun to see you here each week! The color I have trouble with is yellow. I’m not a yellow girl but I AM getting better! Hope you and Amanda have a wonderful week and enjoy the holiday too!!
It was such a fun event. Im glad i was invited to participate and was happy to go first. I do ok with yellow but it definitely has to be the right shade for the project. I hope you have a great 4th July too :)
Howdy Sean, as always, I love your week in review videos. I am in love with that monkey. It is so cute! I love the colors in the PMQ you are working on too. As for a color I struggle with, that would be fall colors like browns, oranges, etc. I love bright vibrant colors, especially purples and teals. Designing quilts for people who want fall colors is the hardest for me. I love the patriotic colors and use them alot. My goals for this week is to write patterns and get some sewing done on quilts, dresses done and prizes gathered up to send to Donna for her Project Dress A Girl event. Happy Independence Day to you as well. I enjoyed your race with Kim @ Cotton Cuts. I voted for you of course :)
G'day Andrea! Im so glad you and so many others enjoy the week in review segments. Its one of my favourite parts of the podcast to put together each week. Im hoping to get the monkey finished this week. I do ok with fall colours but like you prefer the bright vibrant colours. It was fun being in the race with Kim. It was a fun idea and glad i could be part of it. Looking forward to seeing how the other contestants do.
Good morning Sean! I struggle using red. Even my Christmas quilts are not red. I use icy blue and silver or white. When my grandmother came over from the UK she had an icey blue Christmas quilt.
G'day Jackie. Theres been a few people that have said red. I love red but am very picky as to which shades of red i will use for a particular project. Probably more so than most colours.
G'day Grace! I think it would be hard to make an all blue quilt too. I have a couple of friends that love blue and would make all blue quilts all day every day if given a chance.
The Monkey block are fun! Love MPQ colorway..that will be fantastic. I have not met a color I've had trouble with. Maybe a odd peach color that just hasn't fit YET!
I struggle with purple. I think because it doesn’t suit me in clothes so I naturally avoid purple fabrics. I like orange especially with teals/blues/greens.
G'day Zaza! Sounds like me an red sometimes. I love red but i have to find the right shade in clothing. I like to say my favourite colour to quilt with is rainbow. The more colours the better.
G'day Barbara! There are a few of us that struggle with orange. I like to have some orange in most quilts but not sure i would do well making it a focal colour.
The monkey with wings could be a red bull commercial 😂 Tough colors to use? I don’t necessarily struggle with color but with the pattern. I struggle with batiks that have a vast array of color gradient. My least used color is orange, but that is probably because what I am making was not designed in orange. The racing heart block turned out great. My goal this week is to get all my blocks into a top. I have dove into the stash and am reconfiguring the scraps. I have already lost interest in this monumental task 😮
G'day Dawn! I laughed when i red your comment about the Monkey and Red Bull :) Batiks with a large colour gradient can be tricky. I had an orange batik that i considered for the heart block but it went to grey and didnt think id get it all to line up properly. I keep my solid scraps together by colour but the prints are all together in one container. I find its easier to go treasure diving for those rather then spend hours organizing them.
Hello Sean. Loved your heart block, and can’t wait to see the flying monkey done🐵 Gotta ask…..did you ever finish the garbage/construction truck quilt?
I find it difficult to use gray because of its undertones. Since gray can look yellow, brown, green, blue, or violet, I never seem to have the right one in my stash. Ordering online is a guessing game because the swatches shown on a computer screen never seem to match the fabric’s actual look, and fabric descriptions don’t tell you the undertone (usually).
G'day Carol. You are so right about the different types of grey. I am pretty lucky and have a fairly good selection of them so i can usually find something that works. I prefer to buy in person for the same reasons you mentioned. Novelty fabrics seem to be ok online but for blenders, grunge etc i prefer to buy in person so i know it matches.
Hi Sean, I noticed when you were sewing you had a head set on. Do you listen to music or books while you sew? I have to say I struggle with the color brown. Thank you for your great videos and I love your monkey!
Hi Dora Lee. I use my headset to listen to lives usually. Other than that I tend to sew in silence or whatever is on the living room TV which is nearby. I find brown is a great colour when trying to make a quilt for a male. So glad you are enjoying the videos. It's nice to hear that so many are enjoying them.
G'day Barb. We seem to be opposites with yellow as i prefer the brighter ones. depends on the project of course. For the heart quilt i am not sure how many blocks in total. Im guessing about 12? Maybe more depending on how many challengers Kim has on the channel.
G'day Jonna! Red can be tricky. It's my favourite colour but i dont wear a lot of it or make a lot of quilts using it as a prominent colour. For me it has to be the right shade of red for it to work. I prefer the ones that have either a pink or brown hue to them.

😄 yep oranges and yellows. But found a little pop of those help in some quilts.
I totally agree with you Polly. I love to include yellow and orange in all of my quilts but making one with them as a focus colour is the challenge :)
@@TheGuyWhoSews about 20 years ago I got a request for a teal and orange baby quilt. That was not easy to even find those colors. But it did turn out beautiful
I struggle with purple, probably because I use a lot of oranges
G'day Jen. I thought purple would be one of the easier colours but ive heard a few people say recently that its a colour they struggle to use.
CONGRATULATIONS ON 3k subscribers!!!!!!!!!!
Aww thanks Persida. Its exciting to see the channel continue to grow and see so many people enjoying it.
Hi Sean! Always nice to check in with you😊
Likewise Diane. Its always nice to hear from you as well. Hope you are doing well.
Great color choices for your block!
Thank you. I think it turned out rather nicely too. I did like Kim's choices as well.
I really like all colors, but I probably struggle most with pink. I hope Kim will take all the heart blocks everyone makes and make a charity quilt.
Gday Shelley. I believe the plan is to do a charity quilt with all the blocks that are sewn. I'll mail mine to them shortly.
Hi, Sean! Can't wait to see the monkey finished! Quilt racing is new to me. Peach is a shade of orange...
G'day Louise! Im hoping to get the monkey done this week. I had planned on doing it Sunday night but my trusty iron died so waiting on the new one to arrive.
G’day Sean! Orange as a solid can be hard, as a print with other colors in it is no problem. Go Team Sean!
G'day Annette! I think you might be onto something there as the majority of my orange fabrics are solids.
I love your heart block!! You did a great job on it!! So fun to see you here each week! The color I have trouble with is yellow. I’m not a yellow girl but I AM getting better! Hope you and Amanda have a wonderful week and enjoy the holiday too!!

Orange is also my hardest color!!
G'day Jeanne! Glad im not the only one.
I watched this! I would need extra time for the cutting. 😂
I thought I would have more time to cut and sew. I don't know how I got it done so quickly.
Good morning Sean! I struggle using red. Even my Christmas quilts are not red. I use icy blue and silver or white. When my grandmother came over from the UK she had an icey blue Christmas quilt.

I struggle with blue, if it hadn’t been a Blue Onion quilt kit I probably would never have made a blue quilt.
G'day Grace! I think it would be hard to make an all blue quilt too. I have a couple of friends that love blue and would make all blue quilts all day every day if given a chance.
❤❤
Gday Charlotte. Hope you are having a great week so far. Glad you enjoyed today's episode.
The Monkey block are fun! Love MPQ colorway..that will be fantastic.
I have not met a color I've had trouble with.
Maybe a odd peach color that just hasn't fit YET!
G'day Brenda. Im hoping to get the monkey done this week. I love this colourway too for the PMQ. Peach might trip me up if i had to use a lot of it.
My trouble colour is black lol have a great week Sean ❤🇨🇦
G'day Suzanne. I find black is a great background colour as it makes the other colours pop :)
Sometimes purple gives me trouble I do like it but there are so many shades of it.
Definitely. There are so many different shades of purple to choose from. I have a nice little collection of it as its my wife's favourite colour.
I struggle with anything dark!!!
I prefer bright colours but do enjoy using darker colours as background colours for the constrast.
It would have to be orange for me also. I never use orange unless necessary.
G'day Barbara! There are a few of us that struggle with orange. I like to have some orange in most quilts but not sure i would do well making it a focal colour.
GM Sean. Thanks for the updates. I love that monkey. So cute. Is it FPP? Keep the videos coming.
Gday Terie. So glad you are enjoying the podcast. The monkey is all traditionally pieced 😊
The monkey with wings could be a red bull commercial 😂 Tough colors to use? I don’t necessarily struggle with color but with the pattern. Hello Sean. Loved your heart block, and can’t wait to see the flying monkey done🐵 Gotta ask…..did you ever finish the garbage/construction truck quilt?
Hi Kathy. The rubbish truck, construction vehicle quilt hasnt been worked on in a while :( Im hoping to get back working on that again soon.
I find it difficult to use gray because of its undertones. Since gray can look yellow, brown, green, blue, or violet, I never seem to have the right one in my stash. I don’t care for yellow unless it’s very pale. How many blocks to go on that quilt?
G'day Barb. We seem to be opposites with yellow as i prefer the brighter ones. depends on the project of course. For the heart quilt i am not sure how many blocks in total. Im guessing about 12? Maybe more depending on how many challengers Kim has on the channel.
Hi
G'day and welcome! I hope you enjoyed the episode. How long have you been sewing and quilting? Working on anything fun?
Don’t use purple, do use orange. 🙂
I use purple a decent amount as it my wife's favourite colour. I like to use orange in a quilt but not as one of the main colours.
I struggle with red. I just don't like red anything.
