@@JoeHopkinsmusic I was expecting some junk but this thing is light plays great think I'm gonna put these regular grover tuners on it I have though , it holds tune just don't like the gear ratio, the pickups are killer with my distortion
I've ordered an IYV from Vietnam and was amazed it only took 5 days to arrive. I have heard if you buy a bolt on neck IYV guitar you can get a discount on shipping if you request them shipping it with the neck detached and paced in the same box.
I got some stuff trom GFS and was very happy with all of it. I got a 53 tele neck pickup and two 57 Texas Specials. I dont know if they sound authentic, because how many if us have those pups, but i can say that they sound incredible. That project, which turned out fantastic and is very unique, ended up being one of my best sounding guitars. It also has their pots and one of their brass replacement trem blocks. All of it was better than i expected it would be.
Great video! I'm a big IYV fanboy, as they're some of the best bang-for-your-buck guitars you can buy. Another thing worth noting about IYV is that if you contact them through ebay or email, you can get them to do some customizations for you. They'll make it with a custom finish, your choice of wood, as well as many other things too, I'm sure. You just gotta ask! The old IRK-300 (which is no longer listed by them) looked way better (and more Rick-ish) than the IRK-400, so I custom ordered a black IRK-300 with locking tuners, a bigsby-style tailpiece, and a maple fretboard. I think they might have charged me $35 extra for all those changes. Definitely worth looking into!
I’m a fan of Rondo. I have an Ursa 2 6-string bass that I’ve had for about ten years. It had some bad fret sprout, and I had to stick a couple powerful magnets to the bottom of both pickups to increase their output. I also put on better string trees. But the wood is great, the bridge is excellent, the tuners don’t suck, and it sets u really nice. Heavy as hell. I also have a Firefly DC Junior I picked up from a local shop. The previous owner had already upgraded the tuners and bridge/tailpiece, and probably some other stuff. It’s really a great guitar as I bought it. I also just got a Squier with amazing fret work from a pawn shop. Never underestimate Squier.
On one of these vendors I got a great instrument and the very next order 1 month later, the same instrument in a different color was horrible and unfixable and unreturnable... be careful with internet guitar purchases.
Stay away from the Glary. I've sent back a Bass with a twisted neck and crooked headstock. They replacement they sent me was even worse. I just want my money back.
@@JoeHopkinsmusic Not that big a deal. I wasn't expecting perfection for $100. I was planning to cut the thing up anyway. The downside is that I intended to reuse the neck. I got a Harley Benton for $10 more and I'll just use that one instead. I would like to get a refund from Glary and I'm still within the 30 days of the original purchase. We'll see how that goes.
Another great budget guitar video from Joe. Don't let his hippy-ish demeanor fool you, this was a very comprehensive review of some of the budget guitar companies out there today. I suppose someday I will actually purchase a budget LP style guitar. In the meantime I enjoy researching all that is out there. And there is a ton of stuff out there. So much so one finds oneself spending more time watching demo videos, checking prices and selection and so on INSTEAD OF PLAYING THE GUITARS I ALREADY HAVE. Of the 16 brands I am keeping tabs on Joe touched on almost all of them. More importantly he reviewed the various websites, online stores, etc. that carry these. Missing from my list were Lyxpro, Latitude, Grote, Mitchell, ESP, Eart and Zenison. I am still a new sub to this channel so these brands may have already been reviewed. I did not check yet.
With the IYV guitars you can ask them to ship with the neck detached and that saves about half in shipping. I asked and it worked.. That's how I got one of my guitars. Just message the seller. The guitar comes in a square box which makes the shipping less expensive. Of course it has to be a bolt on neck.
Harley Benton is good, so is Xaviere. Firefly makes them too. I have a Grote hollow body that I like. Not everybody makes that style of guitar so choices can be a little limited. I hope you find what you’re looking for and keep Rockin 🤘
@@JoeHopkinsmusic thx for your reply, but, you did not answer my question.... I know of those brands. The thing is, I want to CUSTOM order an ES-335 style guitar, where I chose colour, inlays, logo, type of quilt top etc. Have you got any recommendation for this???
@@msgn8i11s2 IYV let’s you custom order I believe. You have to get in touch with the company. Google them and see if you can find their corporate contact info. 😎
I just got a iyv ies-300 recently brand new in box for 75 bucks and it is a killer guitar just as good as all my Dean guitars
IYV is some good stuff 😎

I have 5 Fireflys. what type of problems did you have?
Mostly the customer service sucks. When the guitar is good your fine but if you have a problem they’re rather unhelpful 🎸

dont know if your having a problem with your mic or your eating spaghetti whilst recording ?
Your hoarse voice kinda makes you sound like Saul Goodman.
Cool, Better Call Joe 😎
