When you guard jokic, you dont just guard him, you also gotta have players on the other 4 teammates on the court. Guarding jokic isnt just 1v1 its 5v5 or he makes you pay.

I love how Jokic was generally happy. Usually, his smiles are out of sarcasm 😂 but playing against Wemby brougnt out something more. Being in the West, its going to be alot of fun watching this. Coming from a Spurs fan, i do enjoy watching Jokic. Alot like Duncan, as Timmy himself said he watches Jokic when he plays and is his favorite player.
He lowkey had Joker shook. If nuggets would’ve lost it would’ve been so embarrassing and bad for jokers rep

The insane thing about this matchup is what Jokic's "solution" to Wemby's absolutely monstrous defensive ability was to just bury him in shots. He shot the ball almost TWICE as much as his average this season. For all Wemby's blocks, he only kept Jokic 1% below his season average FG% of 57%.
It almost worked though since the other Nuggets players except Gordon became ineffective. Jokic is deadlier if he get's everyone going so that's why he is not happy about this performance.
I do think Wemby deserves DPOY. His individual stats are amazing, he has highlight reel defensive plays, and he impacts his team's defense more than any player in the league.
People keep telling me the Spurs defense is bad, but it's excellent when he's on the floor.
gobert has literally ant solid to good defender, kat or reid who are big as fck, mcdaniels one of the best point of attack defender especially because of his length, wemby has not one solid defender

Well, Jokic is a multi-MVP (MVP3 incoming too) and the defending champ, he should be able to put 40 on anyone’s head. Wemby is still just a rookie learning the league. Right now, can’t compare the two because there’s a huge gap in experience and IQ currently. But Wemby as a rookie putting up an almost quadruple-double on the best player in the world is very impressive as well. Jokic is just Jokic, he’s gonna put 40 on anyone.

All Victor needs are competent teammates that actually pass him the ball when needed.
Rudy Gobert cannot do to Jokic what Wemby has.
Plus, the truth is, Gobert's perimeter defense is not that great. Wemby's defensive presence is felt everywhere.
Another amazing thing about Wemby's defense is that his presence in the paint alone is enough deterrent. How many time do we see guys straight up refuse to attempt a layup when Wemby is near the rim?

Wemby had a really bad shooting night but his passing 8 assists to 2 turnovers and defense 9 blocks 1 steal, countless shots deterred, passes deflected was phenomenal.
Victor came into the league super skinny. But now he looks like Kevin Durant in his OKC days already. He's filling up his frame, and he may still look slim, but that's just because of his length. The kid is gettings strong.

Spurs as a team on defense are 28th without Wemby. WITH Wemby they're FOURTH! There's no doubt that he's the MOST SIGNIFICANT defender this season and it's truly not even close. Timberwolves are 1st with Gobert and still 3rd WITHOUT him. It's a no-brainer. It's outdated, unintelligent people thinking otherwise.
