- This is the first QuakeLive Duel Tournament held by id Software at QuakeCon 2008. The players that reached the Grand-Finals are: Alexey "Cypher" Yanushevsky (BLR) and John "ZeRo4" Hill (USA).
This video is featuring multi-pov switching so that you can see how the frags where made. It also features English commentary by Rod “Slasher” Breslau and others that I don't know.
If you wish to see the version without English commentary go here:

Or if you wish to see it in 60 fps go here:

The maps that where played are:
1st Map is Almost Lost or qztourney6
2nd Map is Vertical Vengeance or qztourney4
the demos where downloaded from here:

Quake legend passing the torch to a future quake legend
This is quality content. Thank you!
I can play as well as either of these guys. If you don't count aim, moves, or strategy.
Brilliant work by both. Kudos.
we need more maps to quake champions... this brings back the memorys
Awesome to look back on this match. Now Zero4 is part of the Quake Champions team(esports director?), and cypher is a veteran.
Thanks for the upload!
9:10 -- everybody loves it when the shaft comes out.
The beggining of the legend
NICE QUOLITY! amazin
Damn i miss those maps from back in the days
wow, it is 60fps actually, thanks =)
Кефир красавчик!
lul. Cypher knows how to hugged girls unlike ZeRo4 and Griffin D
"Zero4's shaft is infinitly superior to Cypher's"
HAHAHAH yeah right xD
This was pretty early in Cypher's career...
@@mosley3485 Still Cyphers aim was just as good as Zero4's here
Miguel Pereira Which they weren’t expecting... As soon as Cypher started clapping cheeks they acknowledged that his hitscan was on point
@@mosley3485 Fair enough
@@mosley3485 I mean I don't blame them for not knowing Cypher's abilities as much as Zero4's
Смешные призовые конечно)
That last map was intense!
so who win zero4 on t4?
1. czm
2. socrates?
3. fazz
4. cypher
5. mb rapha?
I'm assuming this map didn't establish as a duel map because it's too easy to dominate with weapons? E.g. the rail and lg seem very hard to get.
T7 is quite choke-y. I mean there are only two links to the areas. However they are far apart. I always thought it played well as a 1v1 map, but it works amazing in 2v2 mode.
No it isnt that popular because defensive rats suffer there, and there are a lot of such players.
Never know that zero4 was still active in 2008, I thought he retired way earlier.
Can anyone tell me, when was his last win? And when he decided to leave? After that match I guess?
The last time I remember him playing was at Quakecon 2014 in the CTF event. He played for a team called "2014", the matches are available here on RUclips.
nice try to comeback on t4 by zero4
timelimit 15 was giving many opportunities
Yep, totally agreed.
Missing that old days.
Follow the guy who last fragged, FFS!
GG
Pitty John didn't make it to come back on pt4. I like Z4 for being humble.
Master and servant, dum dum dum taraa :)
The amazing game between 2 legends an old and a new one. All things aside. The girls were at least not being awkward on stage when posing and hugging so many cringe times in past and in the future lol.
Rapha 4th, hehe.
hate commentary
Hate changing view :/
Lol, the “Quake girl” shtick is so cringe.
People still play Almost Lost on QL, but mainly for clan arena games. I wish people still dueled on maps like almost lost and trinity
This was like a turning point, Zero4 was on decline (reflexes, amount of spare time to train) while Cypher was learning from best and growing.
Cypher was as precise as Zero4, but more versatile in weapons and maps.
As @Nik Rebec mentioned in previous comment ... legend passing torch to future legend.
