I have spent my 14 day vaccation in 2022 in Sardegna. Due to my breakup with my girlfriend, I was alone this time. That being said, it was more like a "camino" than a vaccation. I took the ferry and during my vaccation I've made 4000 km. I was staying in a small moutain town in the middle of Sardegna, called Pattada. Pattada is the home of some knife-making families (they introduced me to Fogarizzu Knives). Since I am fairly good in italian, I got to know a bunch of local people and we spent few evenings outside my hotel on the street just chilling and joking. The local bars, where I had my coffee felt like I was home. My focus were places that are not so attractive for the video blogs, but hidden from the average turist's eye. I was astonished and humbled by the size of Sardegna. Countless trees, stone, road curves, lonesome farming facilities. I feel at home when I am in Italy, I feel like in my home yard when I am in Sardegna.
Too bad most of the people see our land only for its pristine water and beaches, but it would take a year lived in all the corners of the island to understand the real lore of this land. Can't be described in words, not in pictures even though they can convey a little of the mistery of this paradise. None the less this video is top level and, as far as the beaches are concerned, it's really really well made. My invitation is for anybody who wants to understand the real Sardegna, come visit us every period of the year ( if possibile), climb the mountains, see the rivers, camp at night on a traditional fold and ask us about our ways, about ourselves, about how we came in contact with a moltitude of people and culture , at first we don't speak much but we talk for those who listen.

Of course, most of the people talk about our beaches, and I'm happy about it, but we also have Nuraghes, and the tradition of the Mammuthones and Issohadores (I swear to God if I wrote that wrong-)... About Mammuthones, because I don't really know much about Issohadores, so ashamed of myself, people masquerade themselves with a black "old man" mask, a long and kinda heavy and hot wool cape, with heavy bells all over it. It's something even little kids do, and it's heartwarming that the story of the island isn't gone and it still lives.
