    All companies need to have a Factory Tuned option.
    I'm sure many people would love a procharger or turbocharger on their small cars.

    Honda should revamp their marketing team and strategy
    This should have sold this with different power trains.
    This should have been sold as the CRX (To link it to its original heritage)
    Have the Regular NA Engine = Si
    Have the top of the Line regular Engine = SiR (the Original top of the range Badge) and leave the kids with their Type R
    K engine (NA) special version with a 10,300 Red Line (Only avail on the CRX)
    Have the regular Hybrid version = HF (Hybrid Fuel Efficiency orientation)
    Have the Hybrid with Supercharge = HP (Hybrid Performance orientation)

      Mmh.. I guess the problem with that is obviously honda is in retirement mode right now... I mean look at their NSX! Its like they took the ENTIRE performance engineering team on all models and forced them to engineer every single part of the new NSX: every other car, they needed engineers so they hired 3 engineers and 2 anti-emissions charity managers...

    • @maybelive765
      @maybelive765 5 лет назад

      Also, the CRZ uses the honda fit engine, and so they should've called it the fit SI since thats basically what it is: a Honda Fit coupe. Next, the actual CRZ should've been STOCK with a very small supercharger for 160PS! And finally, the K20 engine version would be the Type R with 230-250hp depending on the revision year.

      If you did research they would have put a K series engine in this but do to regulations they changed it last minute

    I've got to give Honda credit for offering hybrids with manual transmissions. Too bad their marketing didn't mention it when they needed to.
    One of my biggest gripes about hybrids, especially the ones *claiming* to be sporty, is the automatic transmissions. If you can't make an engaging, involving car, you can't sell me a car. Cars cost thousands of dollars, and for me to spend all that money I have to *like* the car. An automatic is out of the question.
    When the CR-Z was advertised the first thing I noticed was the weird styling. Yes, weird. Not cool, not funky, just weird.
    The next thing I noticed was the power figure. 130hp was great for a little CRX weighing 1800 lbs...
    I don't remember them saying anything about a manual transmission.
    Now that I know about that, I wonder if Honda will offer a stick-and-clutch hybrid again. If they do, and if they don't suck at marketing this time, that car will actually be on my radar.

      You posted this comment 5 years ago. I priced a factory supercharger and a car today. 2011 base CR-Z in immaculate condition, with a stick, and 96,000 miles $7,500. Factory supercharger is $4,500. 12,500 for the car toady. That's a steal.

    All those who factor cash in are missing the point, take a niche car, add boutique performance parts, you get a beautiful and fun car that retains most of the fuel efficiency, a giant boot... Putting money to get something more exclusive and rare, that returns pleasure... This is the point. all the other people get a Megane, a Focus, a Civic, whatever. My 2011 cr-z with JRSC and Spoon brakes is great fun, what is missing from mine is the "factory" clean and tight, almost silent feel. A modified car will never reach a direct factory car in cost. If Honda makes a type S or R out of the CR-Z it will be less money just because you don't have parts to replace. This is still a unique car with no direct comparison or competition. And nothing replaces its sketch : the look of it : classy, sharp, low, compact, space shuttle feel .

    Honestly i just wish it could've met the usa standers for rear seats in the euro car it had rear seats. They should remodel it a bit and get rear seats in at least enough that kids could fit comfortbly and put the new L civic engine in it with a hybrid but for the most part i guess most ppl would just opt for the civic hybrid anyway. Great car but was flawed for many people the crz was really only good for high school kids or people who didn't have kids and didn't want more then one other person in the car with them or delivery drivers. Great car but needed a turbo from stock like the new 10th gen civics and just big enough to have "rear seat" i feel like the civic hatchback is really close to a crx other then the 4 doors. If you made it into a smaller 2 door and call it a crx and you could even turn it into a sporty crx hybrid. But then again most people don't want two doors anymore.

      +The Lavender Town Project
      crz owner here, and i find this comment very accurate.
      the problem is honda in US is trying to market this car as a sports car, which it is not. but you can rape a lot of 150-160hp diesel/gas cars if you know how to use it.
      4wd would bring the price very high but rwd would be fun. Still handling and dynamics of the car still exceptional. it is just you cant stop thinking what would happen if youd really get the real potential of the IMA engine inside. It is restrcited to protect the battery.
      and the price of it is ridicilously low on Turkish market, if anyone is interested go for it. you will always have a smiling face when driving it.

      There is an extra battery that assists the engine with certain things. for sure gives it more torque. The car isn't terribly fast by any means (unless you turbo charge it) but it sure picks up quick when needing to pass or take off. the battery also helps with gas efficiency. as of right now I am getting 39MPG average in my 2015 Manual 6 speed, and I always drive in Sport mode. That's pretty damn good.

    Add a lot of power, should probably get more stopping power... Even though, 0-60 in 10 seconds vs 0-60 in 3 seconds, still means stopping from 60-0... it doesn't make the car heavier, or change anything about the car other than the fact that it's faster. Stopping from 60, 80, or even 100MPH is still the same as if the car had 95HP...

      OK. I did research this, on RUclips. And, there are stock manufactured CR-Z models that are supercharged. I only wonder how it would affect fuel economy.

      197 hp is actually pretty good in a 2700 lb car. That's significantly better power-to-weight than a gt86 for example. Most modern cars that have over 200 hp weigh 3500 lb or more.

    You must be going to some horrible tuners then. Tuned cars aren't what they used to be. Most times it feels even better then factory. I imagine you can squeeze out more power out of that supercharger with a better tune.

    we say 35K+ for a new one forgetaboutit LOL I think the new civic for a lil more is a better value, but IMO still over priced. I don't care what car companies are asking for there cars that doesn't make it worth the cost. It's only worth what some1 is willing to pay end of story.

  • @MrGovenator1

    I believe there is a reason I have never seen one of these on the roads. It literally fits no market, unless you are filthy rich and have money laying around. So I guess it fits the 1% market, which 99,9% of them wont buy one of these, completely pointless for the price tag.

    • @dirty-moto
      @dirty-moto 9 лет назад

      MrGovenator1 I see CR-Zs often but I own one so I'm going to notice them more. Maybe they're also just a lot more common here in WA where people seem to love hybrids (and unfortunately, that means mainly the Prius). I think they're a nice car--very cheap ($20k base model) yet quite fuel efficient without having to sacrifice all the fun of driving. It is quite an in-between car. Usually those wanting fuel efficiency go all the way--they ditch the manual transmission for a more efficient CVT, and they also expect the practicality of backseats and maybe 4 doors. Those who want more of a thrilling driving experience get a car that's faster and more geared toward high performance and not high MPG.

    • @MrGovenator1
      @MrGovenator1 9 лет назад

      ***** I see the CR-Z quite often too, but its the Honda performance parts that make no sense. A CR-Z with all those performance parts cost significantly more than my WRX, so its totally pointless. Because every video I have seen with the CR-Z with the extra bits, they never really have any thing good to say about it. The parts just don't warrant the cost.

    As a former owner of a Honda CRZ is a terrible sports car he had 60/40 weight distribution. And it's so loud on the highway it's deafening.. I sold it and bought a Volt which was actually quicker, quieter and more efficient

    • @chrispantaleon8391
      @chrispantaleon8391 8 лет назад +1

      Loud?!?!? On Sport mode, it barely makes much noise, even less than a regular Civic. In ECON mode, it's barely there but definitely an exhaust note compared to a Prius. I won't call a CRZ loud by a long shot.

    Pick up a shitty one with a good interior and swap the motor, ditch the stupid hybrid crap, bolt ons, turbo or procharger (superchargers for an engine that's not at least a v6 is not worth the cash)

      +INUMIMI28 What's so great about the CRZ? A sport hybrid sounds awesome. but then they made a car that's class-average in fuel economy and at the bottom of the class in power. I like the styling myself, inside and out...... except for the fact that there's room in the back for seats and instead there's a stupid plastic storage bin. To top it off it's not even like it's really cheap.
      Also, can I ask where you're from? Really curious to hear about this nation that's so much better then the United States. If everyone has your demeanor it can't be a very nice place to live!

      INUMIMI28 Japan isn't the king of anything with cars anymore. They make generally slow and boring cars except for the NSX these days, and that's $100k+ so basically they have nothing exciting for the average buyer.
      If you think a 205HP car that "corners well" or a 190HP car that looks great makes it a great performance car, then you're mistaken. Are you Japanese? Maybe this is the thinking that's making Japanese cars the least fun to drive in the whole auto industry.

  • @samuelrs5138
    @samuelrs5138 9 лет назад

    Well, it's a baby NSX if the NSX got super drunk one night and fucked a 1960s Lada and this popped out 9 months later.
    OK, it's not that bad... but like EVERYTHING "sporty" that Honda makes these days it's 90% sporty-look, 10% sporty-performance, and at $35k it's 100% unreasonably priced. Want to make it a sporty looking hybrid? Great, then design it so it has better then class-average fuel economy. Want to make a sporty-performance hybrid? Great, drop the fuel economy pretense and make it better then the bottom of it's class. $20k isn't bad but for that price, drop the stupid plastic cubbys and add some damn back seats. Essentially; decide on one design philosophy and don't try to be the jack-of-all-trades (aka the Pontiac Aztec).
