I was the only one I knew that had Rainbow Islands on NES growing up, found it at a garage sale for 2 dollars as a little kid, glad to see it finally get the love it deserves.
Wizards & Warriors soundtrack is forever stuck in my memory. I was probably in middle school or early high school and a friend had rented it, so we spent a Saturday taking turns playing it until we got all the way through, I believe. All the jumping in the game led to a kind of "in the zone" feeling when we got good at it. He was a fantasy nut so I remember we did the same on another weekend with Gauntlet. Good times!
David Wise who of course went on to do Donkey Kong Country music etc is a total genius... I have had honour to meet him as well at a retro event and the man is a real gent as well, such a nice guy.
Super contra was the ultimate bargaining chip when borrowing games to friends. That 1 Cartridge pretty much was worth an entire to collection. Lol. That's how much in demand it was when I was a kid. And I remember only 1 kid had it in my hood.
I love your videos because you add a lot of personal details: "I used to play this with my cousin"... " My Dad bought me this game" and so on. Really makes a big positive difference, and makes your videos even more enjoyable. Glad I found your channel.
The only games you listed that I wasn't familiar with as a kid was New Zealand Story, Rainbow Islands, Moon Crystal, and Mappy Land. I love the game as well but the box art for Wizards & Warriors is among my favorites of all time with the multi-color sky in the background. Little Nemo, Kid Niki, and Mickey Mousecapade are extremely nostalgic for me and I rarely see them get mentioned so nice choices.
Great Video Enjoyed every minute... That story bout the player 2 controller was funny. And also the chord missing from the nes lol. had me rolling man. great selection of games btw
Vs Super Mario Bros is a fun variant of the NES release, and definitely harder including some tough jumps in the last couple of worlds. Basically SMB but with the difficulty cranked up for the arcade.
One great game I never hear anyone mention is PIN*BOT. Growing up my older sister had her own NES and like 4 games (Mario 3, Dr.Mario, MarioKart and Pin*bot. Pin*bot was my first pinball game I ever played and I got hooked on it. The mixture of robots, boss battles and the music really stuck with me. I picked it up years later for myself on the cheap!
I remember those early gaming memories, for me that was the PS2 era and kingdom hearts, I just couldn't get enough of it and would play way late in the night and wake up early just to play it!
Always enjoy your videos, Reggie! Bionic Commando is one of my favorites. Played it with a friend in college and had to pause it at the last battle to go to a class. When we returned to complete it, my friend's roommate "accidentally" beat the game, so my friend and I stayed up that night and beat it. Fun times.
Catchin up on some Radical Reggie🤘, love ur flashback stories my friend. We had very similar childhoods. My game room would give you chills🤣 Thanks for all the great content!
Moon Crystal has some silky smooth sprite animation. Oh, what makes VS Super Mario Bros. different is that they moved some of the power-ups around and took away most (if not all) 1UPs. Also, it removes many of the repeat stages replacing them with their harder variants from later in the game (i.e., Worlds 2-2 and 7-2), and then it filled in the gaps with stages from The Lost Levels.
Highly recommend getting Rescue: The Embassy Mission, Maniac Mansion, Megaman 2 and Shadow of the Ninja or Blue Shadow as it's called over here in Europe. Loved those games as a kid and they still hold up today. Think you have the best NES game in Double Dragon II. NES version is by far the best version! Love that game! Great video
Great video! But no Castlevania? The three NES games definitely should have had at least an honorable mention. As well as River City Ransom! But hey, it's your list and there is no way to make an NES video that would satisfy everyone lol.
It's a incredible collection of NES games! Unfortunately I have never played NES so I don't collect games for it! I have started with PS One console and I can proudly say that after many decades it's almost complete!
Yep, Rainbow Islands was one of my favourite games on the Amiga. Incredible depth, just like Bubble Bobble. The Dracula boss of world 3 used to give me a hard time as a kid. I've still never gotten around to completing it fully with all gems.
I’m sure you’re aware but Freedom Planet 2 has been released. YOU are the one that opened my eyes to the first one. Don’t let the fact that it’s only on Steam until next summer keep you from playing it.
Kirby's Adventure is my favourite NES game. I love Kirby, and this game was damn good. I think it was one of the last games on the NES so it looked amazing, and i recently played it on my original NES. Great game!!
great list, kiwi craze it one i played so long ago, i forgot the name and couldnt figure it out for the longest time. need to pick it up again sometime.
great video as always... growing up in England NES was not very popular, with home computing ruling here... so for me it was Spectrum and then in 1990 I moved to the Amiga. But in recent years I have been going on a voyage of discovery on the NES and my word I adore many of the games... Wizard and Warriors looks ace... I was a huge fan on the Stamper brothers on the Spectrum on Ultimate Play the game before they disappeared (from my persprctive)... I now know it was because they moved to the NES as Rare. Have you ever played Rare Replay? As it includes some of their Spectrum games on there, interested to hear your thoughts. For me the Amiga port of Rainbow Islands and Rodland was the best...oh also Pang... I would love if you got an Amiga mini or can help with setting up emulation to try some of the Amiga games as keen to hear your thoughts on some. Rainbow Island ocean box art was the best... I was lucky enough to meet the artist Bob Wakelin (sadly he now has passed away) and lucky enough to have signed poster of a few games including Rainbow Island (sadly in storage waiting for the day I can have a game room). This weekend I am going to a retro event and also going to Blackpool Arcade club... I am so excited... As Dan Malone (pixel artist of Speedall 2, Chaos Engine, Cadaver) will be there... Also John Romero, although met him before and got everything signed. Looking forward most to playing the arcades, with bubble bobble and Rainbow Islands I always making a bee line for. Anyway love your vids as always and your deep knowledge and insights.
Alien Syndrome got remade on the Sega Ages Vol collection on PS2. It was actually one of the best on the Ages back then. They didn't do a very good job on some of the games like Outrun etc. The remake wasn't good it took away from the original style. Golden Axe wasn't good either the same thing. Some games don't need a remake! Check out Alien Syndrome on the PS2 if you haven't. Great remake!
I feel you on the small collection, I think at the moment my genesis collection is only about a dozen games? some great NES picks here though. might have to track down that VS. SMB repro, I know it's got differences compared to the original... I think it's kinda somewhere between SMB1 and lost levels?
Kid Niki Radical Ninja, Chrono Cross Radical dreamers and Radikal bikers. You should try to get a collection of all games with the word radical in it because you are Radical Reggie.
NO NINJA GAIDEN!!! dude!!! Hahahah my favorites games: ninja gaiden I, II and III double dragon 2 and 3 super mario 3 The games were so damn expensive !
Getting a NES was rough let alone getting the games for it, we had to beg for it an in the end my mom ended up getting rid of it an all my precious games with it.. Sad I know T--T
I know that you don't care much about the N64 but do you at least have one? I think if you gave it a chance there's quite a few that you would probably like.
@@The_RadicalOne Pretty smart. But what about your favorite games that you don't don't own. What are they? For me its Final Fantasy 1, Megaman 1,2,4 and TMNT 2.
Although I own a nes and a reasonable collection of games and a nes mini I am ashamed to admit that I have only played nes games on those cheap nes knock off systems.
o no.... a youtuber showed something that isn't mario zelda or metroid?!?!?!?!?! nah i'm with ya reggie. 32yrs old, never owned a NES to this day and dont care for it. and i also agree Contra Super C, is better than the original.
The early gaming days are the best memories. Another Great Vid Dude 🤘
I was the only one I knew that had Rainbow Islands on NES growing up, found it at a garage sale for 2 dollars as a little kid, glad to see it finally get the love it deserves.

That Wizards and Warriors music made me want to play the game. There’s nothing like a classic 8bit soundtrack to stir the soul!
I love your videos because you add a lot of personal details: "I used to play this with my cousin"... " My Dad bought me this game" and so on. Really makes a big positive difference, and makes your videos even more enjoyable. Glad I found your channel.
Little Nemo Dream Master is a MASTERPIECE. Shocked Low G Man didn't make the list.
“We’ll call in Low G man!”
My favorite NES game by far

I never got my NES until 93' but I remember having Mario/Duck Hunt, RC ProAm, Street Fighter 2010 WWF Wrestlemania and my personal favorite Astyanax!
the w&w theme, just that rush of midi. hoooo that's a throwback.
Its funny to hear you talk about your dad knowing whats up lol
Please explain for the rest of us? 🙏🏼

Great video Reggie, loved hearing your stories as a kid with the NES
Vs Super Mario Bros is a fun variant of the NES release, and definitely harder including some tough jumps in the last couple of worlds. Basically SMB but with the difficulty cranked up for the arcade.

NewZealand Story and Rainbow Islands were my first games on the Amiga. Still love them and play them today
Great video! I love the NES! I use everdrives for my other systems, but the NES is the only console I collect games for.
Hey RR! My first video game systems were the Atari 2600 and NES. Such fond memories. Still a gamer today!
I did the same thing with a towel to block lights under the door. Good times 😄😄😄
I remember those early gaming memories, for me that was the PS2 era and kingdom hearts, I just couldn't get enough of it and would play way late in the night and wake up early just to play it!

Man I really like Reggie, just a cool dude who loves video games 😺
I had forgotten my memories of the towel under the door crack. Thank you!

Wizards and Warriors is a gem, Moon Crystal was so solid and just straight quality.

Moon Crystal is a great game. It can be played on the GBA with the 150 in 1 NES games cart. My favorites were always Super Mario Bros 3 and Whomp Em
What noise does the nintendo police make..?

Totally agree with Wizards and Warriors (intro). Top 3 NES game for me.
It makes my day to see a Rad Reggie video
You and the happy console gamer be having those tracks 🎶

Great gameplay captures!
Ranzou Yagyu is one of the most badass ninjas in video games!!! DD3 is a great nes game!!! He’s the only reason to play it!!!!
Kirby's Adventure is my favourite NES game. I love Kirby, and this game was damn good. I think it was one of the last games on the NES so it looked amazing, and i recently played it on my original NES. Great game!!

After all of these years, I am still stuck on Glass Joe in Punch Out. I better get Nintendo Power. Great video Reggie, thanks for sharing.
My first 3 games for the system back then was super Mario Bros 3 , the Simpson space mutants and TMNT from ultra games.

What's up my dude, your style is a lot like mine on games. Contra was so bad ass on the NES it was never better.

Bonk’s adventure is good
Playstation 1 was my favorite system. The arcade ports were often better than the arcades.
That intro was hard af
bringing back the OG memories :)
Ok, now I want see a review of Hot Head Joe. Never heard of that one!
rod land was a killer game on the amiga too
Bionic Commando and Super C don't get enough love.
I didn't have a TV in my room so I usually woke up 3/4am to 2/3hours 🤣 in the living room
*To play NES...
No Megaman ? Jk lol 😂 Great collection man 👍
Where you get those hard plastic cases for the game boxes ?
Kid Niki Radical Ninja, Chrono Cross Radical dreamers and Radikal bikers. You should try to get a collection of all games with the word radical in it because you are Radical Reggie.
You have a very unusual list.
Of course 😊
Got a game at Circuit city and some batteries at Radioshack lol
Idk why but for some reason I thought Dream Master was Page Master
it's "Guy-Den" (ninja Guy-Den)
I don’t care.
@@The_RadicalOne Cool. Keep pronouncing incorrectly then LOL clown
Moon Crystal looks great
It is. Just don’t get flustered on the 3rd level.
Is that all original nes cardboard? Nice collection my friend
No, sir are from the minibox company.
NO NINJA GAIDEN!!! dude!!! Hahahah
my favorites games:
ninja gaiden I, II and III
double dragon 2 and 3
super mario 3
The games were so damn expensive !
how did Mappy Land get past Nintendo of America with all those crosses? Or was it a Japanese release?
Getting a NES was rough let alone getting the games for it, we had to beg for it
an in the end my mom ended up getting rid of it an all my precious games with it..
Sad I know T--T
No intro!? 😢
GOD BLess YOU brother
Kid Niki!!
NES' Double Dragon 3 is a game for real men 💪🏻.
I know that you don't care much about the N64 but do you at least have one? I think if you gave it a chance there's quite a few that you would probably like.
I did. I’ve sold it 3 times.
How do you like the first Mappy?
I love it.
Funny story. How old were you when you put the towel to hide the light under the door? What are your favorite games that you don't own?
Like 7 or 8
@@The_RadicalOne Pretty smart. But what about your favorite games that you don't don't own. What are they? For me its Final Fantasy 1, Megaman 1,2,4 and TMNT 2.

Initially Nintendo was great but many arcade ports were changed because the hardware was too weak.
Nah dawg bubble bobble is way better than rainbow islands
Ok
