      Why bother even talking about asbestos and the age of the ship? Lots of old ships and buildings full of asbestos are still in use. And it detracts from the part where they kidnap people and keep them as slaves.

    I sailed on this ship when I was a kid. She was called the M/S Boheme and sailed for Commodore Cruise Lines from Miami on 7 night cruises. The ship was quite small even then when compared to the Carnival and Norwegian cruise lines vessels. A few months ago I was going thru boxes of photos and found some photos from that cruise and a post card from the ship! I’ve been on many cruises in my lifetime, but what I do remember about this particular ship was that it was small, the pool was small and most of the venues were very small as well. Today it would be almost like an exclusive cruise because the ships today carry up to 5000 passengers while this ship carried about 500 or 600 passengers. Great video, enjoyed watching. .

    • @pickanotherid6646
      @pickanotherid6646 3 года назад +23

      'Boheme' is small because she was originally built as a car/passenger ferry for use on their new Bremerhaven (West Germany)-Harwich (United Kingdom) service, with provisions made for cruise service during the northern hemisphere winter season. The squared off stern for a loading door, and side by side funnels to create a vehicle deck, are tip offs to that original plan. When that plan was cancelled, and she was converted to a straight cruise ship, construction was too far along to rearrange things to a more conventional design. So the vechicle deck was parceled out into cabins instead.

    The 'Freewinds' is not, "Still actively sailing the Caribean.", as stated in the video. Aside from a short no passengers trip to a Caracao drydock at the end of October 2021, returning in November, 'Freewinds' has been tied to the dock in Aruba since March 2020. Partially due to COVID-19 lockdowns, but mainly for failure to implement SOLAS life saving equipment changes that went into effect 1 Jan 2020, causing the loss of her Passenger Ship Safety Certification until those changes are implemented and she's been resurveyed to be certified again.

She was an unknowing participant IMO. Eventually as Time passed by he told me he was in love with me and kept trying to see me. He was really nice and a good person but it was a little too creepy because he kept giving me books by the Hubbard dude. As soon as my sister found out she immediately freaked out and told me to stay away from him because she didn't want me being indoctrinated or brainwashed. The guy eventually lost his dad and it hit him really hard. He had plans to go to college but dropped all that and joined the sea org. He literally signed his life away to the cult and he wasn't even 21 years old. This is a true story. I've been trying to get into contact with him for almost 2 years now. I often times call the church in Florida and ask if I can speak to him but I don't get an answer. It's sad how he's so brainwashed into thinking that that's the only way to live life. He had such a bright future he was really smart good looking and athletic. Now he's part of the sea org like I said and basically lives like a slave from what I can tell. I hope that one day I can talk to him again and see if he's doing all right. It's not him who's the bad person, it's the people running the cult.

They have a fully manicured golf course but you'll never see anyone playing there. People go in, and never come out. There's been a few escapes and they send their goons out to get them back. Owned by an individual operating out of the British Virgin Islands and basically cannot be touched as there is no physical evidence that he owns the company. Two ships mysteriously sunk and disappeared with no valid explanation. There is much much more and should be outed for his treatment of crew and management.

    This is brilliant! Thanks for bringing this to light, I came across the sea org a while ago while searching for another ship. It’s absolutely deplorable what they and the rest of the church do & subject their members to. That being said, I personally don’t think the age of the ship nor the fact that it was originally designed as a ferry should be as big of a problem as you made it out to be. lots of ferries from that era were actually built to cruise ship spec, take the late “queen of the north”, an absolutely breathtaking piece of naval engineering that was purpose built as a cruise-ferry. Ships are reconfigured all the time as their duties and operators change. As for the age of the ship, I’ve been on plenty of ships her age with no problems, it’s really just down to maintenance. Any ship, young or old, with poor maintenance will be way more dangerous than one that’s properly taken care for. That’s my two cents. Love the video!!

    Thanks for sharing this story just when I thought I knew everything there was to know about cruise ships. I'm surprised the United States Coast Guard does not shut the ship down. I guess it doesn't visit the US Shores. Scientology should never be considered a religion it is a license to steal and brainwash and take advantage of all who join. I would be totally miserable on this ship even without the asbestos. It reminds me when people used to go to Orlando and be trapped in a room being practically forced to buy a Timeshare. But at least that only lasted so many hours. These people that you're talking about are literally trapped on a cruise ship it's not like they can open the door and run away. Hopefully the owners of this ship and the Scientology organization that runs it is sued for everything. I feel even worse for the people that have to scrap the ship when it goes to the scrapyard usually ships are scrapped in countries that don't have OSHA regulations. And I'm sure they're not going to tell them that the ship is loaded with asbestos which means the ship will claim even more lives even in it's end of time.

    My wife and I saw this ship in Aruba in October 2021 on our port day. In fact, our ship the Carnival Horizon docked behind it with our aft portion block it in. Our port side cabin overlooked the aft of the Freewinds since it was bow-in with starboard side against the pier. We both remarked at all the wood work on the aft area.

    I originally thought that this would be the story of the Stockholm now Astoria which was the ship which collided with the Andrea Doria and is still sailing today

    Asbestos is in a lot of older ships, without knowing how it's being used it might not be a major health risk to passengers and crew.
    That's the one allegation that needs more info, if could be that there was some asbestos insulation in an engine room which wouldn't be too dangerous if it's maintained correctly and in an undisturbed state.
    I'm a lot more interested in those other allegations, billion year contract sounds unenforceable in most Jurisdictions.

    It should be noted that when this ship was first ordered it had been intended that she would operate as a North Sea ferry, sailing on the Harwich to Hamburg service. However, part way through her construction her owners had a change of heart and her internal design and layout was changed and she was completed as a cruise ship. She has never operated and never had any car carrying facilities. She was a cruise ship from day one and through the 1970s and into the 1980s she was hugely successful.

    There is a lot said about asbestos in this video and it is true that asbestos is very dangerous, and should be removed from this ship, however it is only dangerous when damaged or cut, that is when the microscopic fibres that cause the health issues, can become airborne and be breathed in. If Asbestos is left alone, sealed and is not damaged in any way, its perfectly safe. This is not explained in the video.
