He's owned the car since 1963! It's the real deal not a fibreglass replica! Great to see it still is going great!
Nothing says more about the history of Northern Ohio drag racing than the legendary Godzilla. I'm glad the NHRA recognized Nick and Joanne for this.
What a piece of history. Looks like an early Funny Car....
I remember Godzilla vs Sheldon Gecker's King Kong bracket racing.
Awesome family.
GODZILLA! So, glad we did this one.
He is so awsome, l love my mr.Godzilla.
Thanks for doing it!!!
Wow, I remember this car always wondered what happened to it.
That was great ! I always wondered about that car , and now I know. So many great cars in Ohio. Many thanks
Loved this car in the mid 70s at quaker city dragstrip! Pulled the wheels in every gear!!!
That is my grandfather, love you grandpa I love watching you race car go down the track during the summer time. I remember last year when we were at dragway 42 for the Halloween event and I was so excited because you kept winning but then your gas cap fell off and did not make it to the pits in time but I still had a great time love you grandpa.
Saw it at dragway 42 in the early 73 . That thing would dance all over the place in the top end .
What a class act couple! They are still excited after all these years.
Very cool, really enjoyed! 👍👍
Thats my moms old 68 4 door. Happy to see it. The Iarussi family are amazing. Proud to call them friends..
I can't believe this car is still around
I’m not gonna lie… At first when I saw this car years ago, I thought he altered the wheel base to have the chassis set up like the Vega’s and Monza’s short wheel base using the old style Chris Alston Chassis…👍🏾
This car is so cool! Piece of history!
I seen him run at Martin dragway !!! Thank You for sharing this story.
Still has A Straight Front Axle
Great video. Very cool to see they still have the car.
I saw the Godzilla car many years ago at one of the early Gasser meets at Thompson Dragstrip. I was talking to Nick and found out it was "The Poor Boys Match Racer" I saw at Thompson as a kid in the early sixties. I had pictures of it from then but they have been lost since then. Was great to see this video about an iconic Ohio car! Brings back good memories.
yah remember from when i was a kid then racing myself , last time i saw it ran was during the on-slot of electronics it was dial 11.99 running 130 mph ? . on anther note i see he still has what we nick named the klingon warship with delay boxes and two steps and so forth 😁
awesome!
Back when Super Gas was interesting. Godzilla and King Kong!
I wonder what the wheelbase is?
96 inches!
Dragway 42..✌🏼
2 cars on one trailer without much room to spare. The '55 and Joanne's Vega.......Godzilla, King Kong.......Famous guys in S/G at the beginning. Before timed throttle stops......They left the line hard with the wheels up.....Very cool video of a legend in S/G.....a Great interview Joe
A lot of old gear heads with gasoline in our veins love and eat this stuff up! I’m one! Thanks for sharing all!
Oh my God NHRA Can’t even afford a decent camera using a damn cell phone
I remember this car in B/A, back in the early 70's. Cool piece of history. Probably the only altered wheelbase 55 ever.
My favorite episode by far, I loved this car and Sheldon Gecker’s King Kong. Husband and wife team rocks. Thank you so much for doing this particular episode. Ohio to the front D3 baby!
Fun seeing them in supergas
GEEZ.
Did a 10 year old do the body work?
Many years of wear and tear on the car.
Wow, maybe Nick was busy making it fast and safe, along with a busy race schedule maybe just saying. 🙄 I think it looks great for a faithful warior over the years. I have been a major fan of Nick and Joanne since l saw them at my home track NRP (formally known as Norwalk Dragway) in the late 60s.
@@EdHindel Back when it ran E/G, my E/G '57 Ford would've blown it's doors off easily.
Is it pretty?😄
@@EdHindel Mine or theirs? Other than the paint, mine's all original steel with ZERO plastic body filler.
Bad paint JOB
It's old ...and paint never won a race .
