Just ordered and received a Max 360c...couldn’t get it to connect to WiFi 2.4 while in phone app, tried several different WiFi 2.4 routers between friends, mobile hotspot, etc...Called Escort Live customer service for help which was useless as I got the feeling I was bothering her, terrible customer service! After all that I decided to return the Max 360c and order the R3 today. Can’t wait to try it and wish I would have done better research! I believe I corrected my mistake by ordering the R3. Lesson learned. Do your homework and support a company that cares about their customers and products. My opinion.
Right after this video I bought my R1...obviously the best 300 I ever spent...this is a true story..a month ago I put my max on the front windshield..I bought it 10 years ago at 550 bucks ..to much..I always keep my first r4 on the rear windshield whether I got my r4 or my r8 or my redline 360c on the front windshield..I'm approaching a SWAT special tactics building in Winston-Salem..there's always chargers challengers parked in the lot on weekdays..I picked up a weak signal on the max and in less than a second I picked up the same signal on my r4 on the rear windshield..understand that...at 550 bucks my r4 is exactly the same sensitively pointing away from rhe signal as the max is facing it..thats incredible ..my first r4 cost 450 and the 😊second was 350...
Incredible. I was about to pull the trigger on a 360. Glad I didn't. This will be great for long open stretches of highway, at night, when I'm blazing down I-25 at 100+!
i don't know was ready to throw my 360 away because of so many false alerts sometimes it learns some times not not sold on the performance or price, sold on arrows for sure they are accurate updated and it got better, but for the price.... all over again i would go with the r3 jus saying
The M7? I doubt it, though. 6dB is pretty freaking huge to make up, plus more effective filtering without the marketing slogans. They are just getting it done.
That's a bit harsh, the product isn't even into a full production mode and only a handful of units are floating around the enthusiast community. I am going to doing some serious testing in the real-world this weekend with a unit they just sent me for review. Let's see how it does, shall we? :)
it's hard to believe that for 600 dollars you get a detector that has less sensitivity than the old redline..not equal to the r3 but less than the redline.....I'm messing something
Randy, at this point, I am not going to render an opinion yet. I'll put some serious miles on this puppy this weekend and do direct-real-time comparisons between my Redline, STiR, and compare to an R3 when the opportunity present itself. Let's hope that it's not what the "mob" says it is. :)
Sadly, I have been an Escort fan for so many years (I still am), but the constant increase in prices for comparable range has been less than desirable. The OLED screens used by Escort now are impossible to see in daylight and especially with sunglasses on. I use my Redline and X50 whenever I know its going to be a nice day. Uniden has stepped in to offer something comparable for less cost which is exactly what the market needs to bring prices down to a more reasonable level. Same range and adding a GPS does not merit a $600 price tag.
Distance matters! When there are only 3 other cars on the highway late at night, and you are 2+ miles behind when the car in front gets hit. The Escort just got U Busted. Or the cop is savvy and patient, only checking a vehicle every 3-5 minutes. So you travel at least three miles between the hits...sure hope your detector alerts from that far away.
Jo N thank God they did. Im actually getting my R1 in a couple of days... The tones are the worst of any detector ever.and the only thing worst than that is the guys making videos don't change them.they claim they like the original tone..... They must have bad ears or tone deaf(brain damage) or just too much dam weed
Curt Park I have a Redline and a max and I got my R1 last week .it is worth 300 bucks.it's not a huge amount more sensitive than my redline but it is more.
On 2 road trips though Texas and New Mexico my Redline Ex was giving me 2 to 3mile detection. I though they were false but HWP every time!! It did go crazy when a Mazda was around a few times...
why not use both one for range and the other for direction arrows. I find no discernable interference using both at the same time. I have them stacked on the windshield, one near rear view mirror and the other below it about 4 inches. Works well together.
Should have ran both side to side to see the distance from when it first went off or can you tell us how much further uniden was then the escort. Another thing ramp up is pretty bad i think , meter seems to low when approaching the p.o , valentine has amazing ramp up and silent to K band when turned off. But in the end if the uniden goes down in price by a bill or so ill buy one just for the distance and use the v1 for arrows
As someone who does not do high end speeding, I don't want a radar detector to go of so early that I have to drive 3 miles before the radar gets me. With the 1.6 miles notice ahead, I can slow down quickly and not have to hear the chirping for 2 extra minutes of R3. And no I don't own a 360.
good to see you still online! i'm creating a collection which hopefully will have some encounters that you'd be looking for: ruclips.net/p/PLxCvxw5IGj7HCLjaM55YB_XoWa21Vz_V3
Almost purchased a much pricier Escort when I came across the Uniden R3. I dismissed it as another low end radar detector...until I read the reviews. Saved myself $250 and ordered the R3 over the Passport Max.
Good question. There are so many versions of the firmware with varying pulse rates, I can't say definitively that they consistently do. I know they are exploring that more guns, but they at least detect some of them, I just don't know how many variations.
thank you for the reply.... are the speed trap guns usually constantly on? or the detection happens when officer Friendly presses the speed gun trigger?
it depends upon the officer and technology. many drive with their units in C/O mode (continuous transmission). others uses I/O or instant-on using only brief transmissions. laser, by its very nature is instant-on only.
If you’re hit with laser, a radar detector isn’t gonna help you. Laser tells the officer your speed immediately so a radar detector will just basically tell you that you’re f’ed. You want a laser jammer in that case.
Ok ---long range is awesome! But - if you cannot react within 1.6 miles, you're either DUI, driving faster than most road cars, or just don't care. There is more than straight line detection --- as the Redline models have shown ... just sayin'
That is not necessarily true as you may have to see a cop using Instant On way ahead of you and then he turns it off. The ability to see a cop way in advance is knowledge any driver can use to be on guard as you may come around a bend and get hit without expecting it. There are real advantages to having incredibly long range alerts whether or not they are immediately apparent
Yes, agreed when confronted with C/O radar. The real value to having such sensitivity is when you encounter instant-on radar that is not always transmitting. In the increased range with a more sensitive radar detector, you have that more many chances to be forewarned, especially when traffic is light.
I agree with you, i have my 360 Max set to Ka only and it gives me plenty of notice, as a matter a fact it only goes off when there is a cop, in Orlando, FL police, troopers, sheriffs only use Ka so X and K band are useless, haven't used them in years and never had a issue. I just know when my 360 goes off there is a cop ahead and 1.5-2 miles heads up is more than enough for me. I may get the R3 just to play around with it but i don't want something alerting me to things 3-4 miles away, that would get seriously annoying if its detecting things so far away especially in city driving but ill play with it and see.
I’m on my amazon order deciding which one to go for Uniden R3/ max 360. I love Uniden range but wish it has direction alert :( So I’m going to go with the cute birdy sound.
1 mile is more than enough time and distance to lower speed and react correctly. I see the 3 miles warning as a issue, most people, like me would probably think its a false alarm
Jorge Lopez you clearly either don't understand or don't have to live with instant-on radar. The cops here frequently use that mode and the only way you'll get a warning they're around is when they hit a vehicle ahead of you. That may be several kms away. It's not me that needs a miracle of comprehension...
You are only looking at glass half full. He was approaching straight on, on Flat terrain. extra sensitivity comes in handy if the cop is going the opposite direction that extra time come real fast, or if the cop is running instant on, or around a corner.
