    Videos like these help the non techies understand why we do what we do and for that I am glad that they get made.
    I love all of Hak 5 tools or toys depending how you call them. You pay for what you get and they never have failed me yet.
    Great work Darren and the rest of the team/developers at Hak 5

    I love it when a red aggressor team shows us how we messed up. My response is 'Thank you! and can you help us to fix this?'.

    Most of the time its harder to be the good guy than the bad guy in terms of hacking. Because you dont want to damage a network or launch something nefarious even IF your tools wind up in a user's hands.
    Showing companies and even users the vulnerabilities in their networks and their platforms make the world a safer place from the bad guys. And one of the old mantras still applies, sometimes to defeat the bad guys you have to think like a bad guy.
    Think of white hat as the security guy your company's IT department uses, or the security department of the service that you use. You dont dislike those guys. Those guys are the good guys keeping you safe from the bad guys right? But I will guarantee you that those good guys need to think like the bad guys from time to time in order to keep you safe. And some of the tools you use as a good guy, yes they could be used by bad guys. There is no "good guys tool" out there. The tool is merely the method of delivery. What is ON the tool makes it good guy or bad guy. And customization makes it more useful to good guys because they can emulate the bad guys far more easily than waiting for the development of a tool that can do what the bad guys do, but only work in a good way.
    For the most part, its "train for the worst, prepare for the worst, and hope for the best" in the world of security. Because there WILL be someone smarter than you better than you coming down the pipe. And he might not be on the "good guys" side.

      The old mantra 'An ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure.' also applies. Security of something that retains its value when you make a copy. You will never get back. It's like herpes once it's out in the wild you will never get rid of it.

    +Hak5 maybe you want to make a Video, wich showes you pentesting a company?

    • @themaconeau
      @themaconeau 6 лет назад

      They may not be able to. Publicly showing processes, layouts, methodologies, etc would put said company at risk and that's just for starters.
      Even if you edit all those out, it may still reveal intel for bad guys unknowingly.
      While I agree it may be cool and awesome, sadly, it may not be practical.
